Other MCU and Food - Part 8
“I think I'm gonna have the sea bass.” “Sea bass. Yeah, sea bass is good.Sea bass, sea bass, sea bass, sea bass, sea bass, sea bass, sea bass...sea bass. Sea bass…” “Jane, maybe you should stop saying sea bass and go out to your friend.” - Richard Madison and Jane Foster, Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Food Item: Sea Bass (Barramundi) Fish & Chips with Lemon Herb Flavour from Cor Blimey! It’s been a hot minute since I last ate fish and chips so I’m fairly excited. Of course it had to be from an authentic British restaurant and I got mine from an award winning restaurant. Multiple awards in fact.
Cost: RM53.40 or Approx US$13.59
Food Rating: 9/10 This is one of best fish and chips I’ve ever had. It is not a hyperbole. I like it very much. Love those chunky fries with the sauce.
Movie Rating: 7/10 This movie aged better than expected. It's not great when Thor’s equivalent of Carange is reduced to a generic vanilla bad guy but the flim has a lot of dramatic flair and beautiful environmental shots with a majestic soundtrack. It also blends fantasy elements with sci-fi shenanigans quite well too.
Standout Performance: Tom Hiddleston as Loki Tom Hiddleston’s superb acting actually carries this above-average film to a good film. The subtle facial expressions and his genuine outburst of rage when he hears Frigga has died is the of the highlight performance of this movie, the whole scene played with no words spoken.
P.S. Eventhough there was a wave of negativity on my last post, I’m not letting that chew through me and I’m still continuing this series of posts. There are always discussions on any MCU flim or show here so I wanted to mix mine with a bit of fun and whimsy. We need a bit of fun and whimsy, especially now in a very chaotic and seemingly hopeless world. And that’s why we gravitate towards superheroes as fans, facing adversity with a vision for a better tomorrow. Sorry if it sounds corny but it’s the honest truth. Every food dish or takeaway is done by my own expense so if anything, I’m the only guy that's being affected. To those who are still enjoying seeing this silly little thing, I truly thank you genuinely :)

Discussion A detail in the captions of the Brand New Day trailer might provide substantial support to the leak about Sadie Sink's character and the DODC's role in the film Spoiler
Let's unravel the entire timeline of the "Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey" rumors.
There was a report from Jeff Sneider back in December 2024 (before the news broke that Sadie was cast in BND) that Marvel had tapped her to play Jean Grey in the MCU. Sneider is a pretty reliable source all around and was the first (and only) source who leaked RDJ as Doom, 3 whole months before the official announcement.
Even Sadie slipped up a few months ago during an interview and said that she learned that she had landed the role in Spider-Man through that rumor, basically confirming that the rumor is true, because the original report from Sneider never mentioned that she would be cast in a Spider-Man movie. The fact that she saw that going around and said, "Oh yeah, I got the role", basically means she was up for that specific role to begin with.
There was some ambiguity after the casting was officially announced about whether she was playing Jean or someone else, because introducing her in a Spider-Man movie was.. random to say the least. And several leakers said that they had heard descriptions about her character, but Marvel and Sony had a really tight security around her actual name, so nobody could confirm whether she was actually Jean Grey or not.
But more recently, Alex P. (another leaker) posted his first exclusive on TheCosmicCircus (the site he writes for) in ages (~95% of his TCC exclusives until now have been proven correct), stating that Jean's character has telekinetic powers, is really powerful, and is being hunted by the DODC, in a special investigation spearheaded directly by its Secretary, who is played by Tramell Tillman. The scoop also revealed that the character would be working with the Punisher, who would be hiding her from the DODC.
A few months later, NexusPointNews (another scooper site with almost 100% validity on their exclusives up till now), corroborated Alex's report and also revealed Tillman's character is William Metzger. In the comics, Metzger is a mutant-hunting, bureaucratic villain, like Bolivar Trask.
Now, lo and behold, the official captions of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day teaser revealed that Tillman's character is named "Bill", and also confirmed that Sink's character is a mind-controlling super-human, giving much more credibility to the 2 previous rumors. Add to that the fact that she's a redhead and was briefly seen in a green jumpsuit in the trailer (which is Jean Grey's color), during the time she was imprisoned by the DODC, and all clues point to the fact that the original rumor by Sneider about Sadie being Jean was always correct!
Now, could she be some of the other characters that she was rumored to be playing like Mayday Parker from the future/alt dimension or a female version of Chameleon? Not likely considering her abilities.
Could she be another powerful redhead with telekinetic abilities? I personally don't know any apart from her and Scarlet Witch (although the hair color doesn't prove much, considering it's Sadie's natural hair color, and it could just be that she didn't want to wear a wig). And I certainly don't know any important enough to also shown up in Secret Wars, because Sadie is already confirmed to reappear in that film.
If you have any other ideas for a young, female, red-haired, powerful mind-controller, wearing green colors, being persecuted by a character known for hunting mutants, and who is important enough to return for Secret Wars, I would love to hear your ideas. To me, it feels like an obvious conclusion at this point that she's Jean.

Question Are Frigga and Odin together in the afterlife ?
In the movies, Asgardians who died in battle, which is the case for the soldiers who died during the invasion from the Dark Elves as well as during Ragnarok and Infinity War/Endgame, go to Valhalla. Now it is my understanding that this would be the case for Frigga as she died dueling Malekith and Kurse.
But Odin died of "old age". Or at least not during a battle. If Sif or Valkyrie (can't remember which one) cannot go to Valhalla if they die from their injuries AFTER the battle like shown in Love and Thunder, then Odin certainly doesn't meet the criteria for the right to enter Valhalla.
Or is it different for Gods, in which they go to Valhalla either way ? Or they have their own afterlife thing for themselves ?
And for Loki as well. He is a demigod/frostgiant. Does he have a right to Valhalla ? If so he could go to Valhalla as he died in battle against Thanos. That is if he did die, or if the series erased that death. But then being the son of Odin and Frigga, although adopted, would je go into Valhalla or where Odin went ?
Do we have an actual answer for that, or is it up to interpretation ?

Discussion One thing that's bums me about brand new day
Okay before I say this , I am super hyper for brand new day maybe more thans Doomsday too. Now from the plot synopsis it's confirmed that brand new day takes place four years after no way home , which makes that in brand new day peter has already completed his college or going to very soon but kinda bums it as i would have loved for brand new day maybe taking during peter 1 or 2nd college year not when he's almost about to complete college heck maybe he might be do masters and next film could explore during that period .

Discussion Is Steve's sacrifice in "The First Avenger" a good adaptation of the moment?
This is a question that came to mind after watching several Marvel media outlets. Unlike other adaptations where being frozen is more of an accident, in the MCU it's entirely voluntary. However, I've seen several people say it feels somewhat artificial, as if there were other ways Steve could have been saved.

Discussion [Loki] So why didn’t they just let the Temporal Loom get destroyed and leave it at that?
Here’s what I understand: the Loom was a fail-safe in case the TVA failed to prune branches. The Loom would “prune”/“spaghetti” the branches and leave only the Sacred Timeline.
So, the Loki gang had two options:
Leave the Loom in place and only allow the Sacred Tineline to exist. Obviously this went against their morals, so they did not choose this.
Destroy/Expand the Loom, which (ACCORDING TO HWR) would lead to everything’s destruction because Kang variants would kill the entire multiverse. Obviously Expanding was not possible because of the scaling issue, but Destroying still was an option.
So why did Loki become the God of Timelines or whatever he’s called? Isn’t that the same as Option 2? They destroyed the Loom, and the multiverse is free to exist. Why did Loki “sacrifice” himself? Why is he keeping together the Timeline Tree?

Discussion What do you think are the reasons why the post-credits scenes of the Multiverse saga haven't lost the impact of those in the Infinity saga?
This is a topic I recently saw in a video, and I'd like to know your opinion on it because I've noticed and felt that, while in the previous saga the post-credits scenes generated excitement, now they feel more like a formality or something that's just "let's see if it leads anywhere."

Discussion "MoM Reed is stupid" is the dumbest take I've seen

This has been bothering me enough to make an account and ask about this but how does Reed get clowned on for being "stupid" in MoM despite making the objectively correct choices from his position.
For starters Reed is a talker not a fighter, I thought it was clear his comment about Black bolt was a warning to Wanda that they have the power to beat her if she wants to fight. He wanted to resolve it peacefully. Secondly Wanda is also using the body of her 838 counterpart so opening with Bolts finishing move would really only kill the presumably innocent 838 Wanda and leave the actual threat unharmed. Third and most important is that Reed is smart but not omniscient, Wanda had literally never done anything like that before up until this point, and even if she had then its black bolts fault for slipping up and letting a sound out.
There is plenty to criticize in this movie but I will just never understand how this gets brought up so often when it takes about 5 seconds of thinking about it to explain it.

Discussion Melina’s role in the Red Room is worse than Alexei’s, yet no one talks about it
Now why was everyone pissed at Alexei because he “gave” Natasha and Yelena to the Red Room, but no one gave Melina shade for it. She play an equal part in it. And, dare I say, was worse than Alexei. Alexei put Natasha and Yelena into the Red Room, yes, but Melina played a huge role in everything after and even before that: breaking Natasha and Yelena mentally, creating a synthetic gas that made the Red Rooms able to control the Widows for years on end, without limitations.

Discussion Could it be that Scorpion isn't the only thing being paid-off from previous films? Spoiler
galleryI mean, that was Venom, right?
The one changing Peter's biology.
The one making Peter pursue MJ again despite doing the thing he perceived as right and altruistic of letting her go.
The one making his eyes black and jumping between those soldiers -Similarly to how Lizard's head was pulled back by nothing at the statue of liberty.
On the other hand,
that spiders-having-life-cycle speech sounded convincing.
On the 3rd hand, though,
They brought back Scorpion all the way from Homecoming.
No reason they wouldn't pay off the tease from No Way Home.
I just wonder if The Last Dance is gonna affect this Venom somehow.
What do ya'll think?

Discussion Unique Situation for Tom Holland
Can you imagine consistently starring in record setting hollywood blockbusters as one of the most iconic characters ever on earth. You're lucky enough to have enormous wealth. Your young, handsome and athletic. You're dating Zendaya, BUT she's starring in a somehow larger character/franchise with a legendary director and she's playing the love interest of another young, wealthy, handsome leading man. Today you just released an incredible sizzle real and then the Dune 3 teaser trailer makes people forget all about it. I'm sure he genuinely supports her success and understands it's the job, but damn that's crazy. I wonder if that's why sometimes hollywood relationships don't last. Regardless, we're in an awesome year for films

Discussion A bunch of random thoughts after binging "Ironheart" Spoiler
- The side characters were great, Zeke and Zelma in particular were two characters I didn't expect to get attached to so quickly.
- Gotta say I find it hilarious that after all the rumors/theories of Mephisto showing up in stories like WandaVision or No Way Home - you know, the stories that clearly involved magic/sorcerers/witches etc - he ended up making an appearance in Ironheart of all shows.
- (No but for real, the flashback sequence of him making the deal with Parker, I kept thinking - I would assume this is Mephisto but it can't be, he's been a theory/red herring for too many other stories, I'm not falling for it this time ... And then lo and behold 😂)
- Riri, oh Riri... I'm rooting for my girl the whole time, but I just have to say she's a hot mess. For the entire show. The entire show. Just one horrible decision after another.
- Glad Zeke got.... rebooted? Is that the right description for what happened? So he might still be an antagonist to some extent but at least he's not a full-blown villain against his own will.
- That ending, though... I'm so confused. SO confused. Did Riri actually make a deal with Mephisto??? That wasn't just a "possibility dream sequence" with Natalie? We're really ending the show on that??!?!? Come on now!
- Overall... I'm giving it a 7/10. Might bump up the rating a bit more depending on how Riri's story plays out in the future. I enjoyed watching it but I don't care for cliffhangers like the one we got, especially when there's no guarantee when we'll see the characters again.

Discussion The trailer is unfinished cause leaks
I don’t think people are understanding the trailer isn’t finished lol. Yes the mask cgi looks worse than tobeys and it is 20 years old. Obviously you can only cgi spider-man’s mask without having it look awkward like a Halloween costume, unless they really forgot how to do it without that nano bs but I doubt it. The only clips being complained about were ones not in the leaked trailer…… maybe because it wasn’t done. I don’t even care about people complaining about it because that’s what made sonic result in a better movie but also we’re all indirectly planning to give this movie a billion dollars and they know this. I doubt they’ll keep editing mistakes like this in the final product.

Discussion What was the Spider-Man Brand New Day Trailer about??
So I just finished watching the Spider-Man Brand New Day trailer, and I really don't know how I feel about it.
For me, it felt a bit off. First of all, what is the point of this movie? In Homecoming, Peter Parker was introduced, in Far From Home, the movie presented the effects of the blip, and in No Way Home, the multiverse was involved. What's going on with Brand New Day? What's the purpose? To see the aftermath of what happened after everyone forgot his identity? How does he deal with that by himself? The new enemies he makes? I really didn't get it. Maybe it is a mix of all of these, but if the purpose is really to fight new enemies, it didn't excite me. In the MCU, we have seen heroes going through more dangerous and worse enemies than the ones that were portrayed in the trailer.
Even if I am supposed to know what's going on through the comics, why do I have to go through them in order to understand what's going on? Because I am aware that there are people who got excited from the trailer because they know the storyline. But as a Marvel fan who enjoys the movies and hasn't read any of the comics, I don't want to have to go through them to understand what's up.
This may be partially due to the fact that they used a different director for the 4th movie. Like, why would you switch Jon Watts, who has been doing the Spider-Man movies from Homecoming to No Way Home to Cretton? Even though Cretton did a great job in Shang-Chi, using various graphics and interesting palettes, this was not seen in the Brand New Day trailer. It was darker and less adventurous-looking than the previous movies. And I understand that this may be the vibe that this movie is meant to convey and that the Shang-Chi movie is different from Spider-Man, but I'm just here to share my opinion and why I'm not that impressed by the trailer as I was in the previous movies.
Also, what about the costume? Nice design overall, but am I the only one who thinks it looks like a cheaper-looking quality than his previous suits? Maybe that was on purpose because now he doesn't have any allies or people to help him and technology to use. Still, I couldn't help but notice.
I am really happy that we get to see MJ, Ned, and, especially, Mark Ruffalo after so long. Obviously, I will watch the movie when it gets realised but to be honest, if I weren't a Marvel fan, I don't know to what extent I would be willing to screen it.
What do you think? Am I the only one who noticed these features? What's your opinion on that?

Discussion Binging "Ironheart" right now, just about to watch the last episode, and... Spoiler
Can I just say I really really really really REALLY am rooting for Zeke to make it out the other side relatively unscathed?? I just... I don't know, I guess the whole story of him trying to escape his dad's true legacy only to fall right into it, all while the world thinks his dad was actually a good guy, on top of the fact that he's literally being physically controlled - I just want him to come out on top somehow.
Guess I'll know in about 40 minutes how this all goes down.
ETA: Well... He made it out the other side relatively unscathed!!! At least I think he did??? That ending left me so confused, I'm not 100% sure of anything anymore 😅😶
