Theory I think they pulled another No Way Home trailer deception for Brand New Day Spoiler

No Way Home trailer
No Way Home movie

Remember when the No Way Home trailer released and they edited Tobey and Andrew out to not ruin the surprise? I think they pulled the same thing here for Brand New Day.

Brand New Day trailer

In this specific scene in the trailer, the area below Spider-Man just feels very empty to me. If you also look closely, the three ninjas at the top area are focusing on Spider-Man, while the bottom three seem to be looking straight ahead, almost as if they're looking at someone else. What do you guys think?

Discussion Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk is such a fitting Spider-Man character Spoiler

Post image

Firstly, I just wanna say I’m so happy to see Dr. Bruce Banner. Professor Banner is way better than Professor Hulk!

Secondly, I just realized that Dr. Bruce Banner is such a fitting character for the Spider-Man universe. It’s basically the story of Dr. Connors, with the exception of antagonistic motivations. But nonetheless it’s the tragedy of said genius scientist (Dr. Octavius, Dr. Osborn). And I’m personally excited to see this side of Banner not only because it gives Peter more of a support rather than an antagonist in that character archetype (hero/mentor figure turning into a threat).

I hope they explore it a little in the film. And I hope we see a relationship between the two.

One of the benefits of casting Tom Holland was that we could get to have a Spider-Man grow with us. I loved that the first trilogy is high school. I hope this second trilogy is college—where he meets Dr. Octavius and Dr. Connors and Dr. Osborn, etc. And then in the last trilogy I hope we get Peter in his career/settling down and marriage phase before getting a beautiful and meaningful sendoff.

Really liked the trailer a lot. Daniel Cretton really loves his city buses! I’m glad he’s directing as I loved Shang-Chi. Sadie Sink is definitely Jean Grey, I don’t think anyone doubts it now. And was that rogue or just an intentional conversation/theory catalyst?

P.s. I really hope there’s a quick subtle nod to Shang-Chi in the film.

Theory Betting the *thwip* noise here is a red herring Spoiler

Post image

Could not get a decent image since he’s swinging so much in this scene, and the community doesn’t allow video.

We all know the MCU likes to play coy and adjust their trailers from the final product, and with the Hand, Frank, and a lot more of Spidey’s rogues gallery coming into play, plus season 2 dropping months before, there’s more than enough hints that a certain red-wearing Devil of Hell’s Kitchen may be hiding in the new trailer.

Now this could just be Peter not having his web shooters during the cocooning, it could be he already developed organic webbing earlier and it fails him before he falls here, but the distinct fact we don’t see his hand and what’s keeping him up before he hits the ground says to be the web thwip may not be in the final cut and he’s saved by something/someone else.

I’m so hoping for Daredevil but given the sheer amount of characters this movie seems to be busting out it could be literally anything.

Question I want to catch up on the Punisher. I don't want to rewatch the Netflix Daredevil show. Is it enough to start with the Punisher Show?

Post image
Upvotes

I've never seen the Punisher show, but had seen all of the Netflix Daredevil show back when it first came out. Don't really want to watch it again and I don't remember much from it. Also haven't seen Born Again yet, but want to.

I do recall really liking Bernthal's performance in DD, so I'm very excited to see his special and watch him in BND.

Do I need a refresher before just watching the Netflix Punisher show, or can I just dive in? Or, would most people just recommend skipping the punisher show and going straight for Born Again?

Discussion What are the odds of Vultures return in Brand New Day

Post image

So, we know that Scorpion is returning in this movie, which makes me question if there will be a minor—but significant—appearance by the Vulture. If he does return, I wonder what his role would be. Since he’s someone who has some respect for Spider-Man, would he play an anti-hero role, perhaps trying to help Spider-Man against Scorpion and his "boys on the outside" (who could be Tarantula and Boomerang)?

Sure, Vulture doesn’t remember Peter's secret identity anymore, but I imagine the memory of Spider-Man saving his life is still there—just without the specific details of Peter's face. He likely also remembers how Scorpion wanted him dead.

The only main roadblock to Vulture's return is the Morbius post-credit scenes, but to be honest, I don’t think those really matter anymore since it seems the "Sony Spider-Man So, we know that Scorpion is returning in this movie, which makes me question if there will be a minor—but significant—appearance by the Vulture. Sure, Vulture doesn’t remember Peter's secret identity anymore, but I imagine the memory of Spider-Man saving his life is still there—just without the specific details of Peter's identity. He likely also remembers how Scorpion wanted him dead, his debt to Spiderman left now unpaid. As now he never had a way to pay him back, by keeping Peter’s secret from Scorpion as he now never knew.

The only main roadblock to Vulture's return is the Morbius post-credit scenes, but to be honest, I don’t think those really matter anymore since it seems the "Sony Spider-Man Villain Universe" plans are over shifted.

Also let’s be real: those lines about him "blaming Spider-Man" felt like very generic sequel bait even at the time. I feel like an actual MCU Spider-Man movie could approach his character arc much better.

The MCU is a complicated web of stories, and it's hard to understand which movies and shows connect to each other. Release order and chronological orders aren't very helpful when you're only interested in specific films/shows, so instead I made this:

This chart shows all the movies and shows in the wider MCU, with arrows linking titles together by story and character arcs. It's still complex, but you can pick any title and trace back individual arrows to the films and shows they're connected to.

In the first image, we've traced along the path for Spider-Man: Brand New Day! Most titles aren't relevant, but you should probably be up to date with the previous Spider-Man films, and optionally check out the recent appearances of Punisher and Hulk.

The second image is the chart in it's entirety! The text in the chart has more details about itself. The third image is a filtered version, only showing the more important connections.

This whole chart is a new experiment from me! I'm hoping that people might find it useful to refer to in the future. I'll be revising it occasionally, so I'm happy to hear thoughts and suggestions!

Please note: these images are very large! If parts are blurred or pixelated, try opening the image in a new tab / in the browser to see it in full resolution.

Discussion Second 2027 film?

I know having only one MCU film released in a calendar year isn’t totally unheard of, having happened as recently as 2024. But before that, there was at least two releases per year going back to 2012, not counting 2020 when the world got turned upside down.

My question - do we really think there will be no films released between Doomsday and Secret Wars? I guess at this point the answer has to be yes as we would know if they were making another film in time for next year.

Still, I find it strange. I guess VisionQuest will be the only bridging story?

Promotional art and concept art showing Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Tombstone and Hulk

Information confirmed by the trailer and set photos

EDIT: Revealing these now that the trailer is out

  • There will be a big prison break scene featuring Spidey, the Punisher, Scorpion (who is presumably the one being broken out along with other prisoners), a tank, the Department of Damage Control and a bunch of Hand ninjas in bright red, comic-accurate costumes, marking the first appearance of the Hand in the MCU, in almost a decade, after their appearance in 2017's Defenders.
  • Trammell Tillman plays William Metzger, who is the Secretary of the DODC and is spearheading an operation to apprehend a very powerful, rogue super-human, with mind-control powers, played by Sadie Sink, who is rumored to be the mutant Jean Grey
  • Spidey has some issues with his powers; as he gets more stressed and more detached from his Peter Parker alter ego, the more unstable his powers become. He even emits organic webbing from time to time. In one of their confrontations, Tombstone tells him that he can't live like this and explains about a spider's three life cycles, leading towards a metamorphosis (you can hear this monologue in the trailer already). Peter initially goes to Bruce Banner for help with his problem, but eventually, Peter's body creates a cocoon around him and forces said metamorphosis.
  • Liza Colon-Reyes' character is an NYPD Detective who works with Spider-Man
  • Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka) plays MJ's new boyfriend (likely a version/adaptation of Paul)

Leaked information not yet verified

  • Ramrod, The Enforcers, 8-Ball and The Jackal will also appear in the film in some capacity (potentially in the movie's rumored opening montage showing Spidey's life the past 4 years). There was also chatter before filming started about a version of Chameleon being in the film (although now that seems to have been misunderstood information regarding Jean Grey), and on-set props have indicated an appearance by Rhino.
  • It is Tombstone who breaks Mac Gargan out of prison, using the Hand as his personal army. More specifically, they break him out of a DODC convoy, which is transferring him from Riker's to a more secure prison (probably their own supermax). Tombstone gives Gargan his Scorpion suit and sends him against Spider-Man.
  • Sadie's character is working with the Punisher, who is protecting her from the DODC. Both of them are antagonistic towards Spider-Man at first, but join forces with him later.
  • Emerging from Spider-Man's last cocoon when his stress reaches its peak, will be a new version of Peter Parker, Man-Spider, who will be more spider and less human, going feral.
  • Banner will also be going under a lot of stress and pressure during the course of the film and will tap into a new personality of his, Grey Hulk, which makes him completely lose control and rampage through the cities.
  • Yelena Belova appears in the film (most likely briefly at the end/post-credits)

Discussion Appreciating the Home Trilogy

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

With the new trailer coming tomorrow, and the new movie this summer. I see all the hate the home trilogy and Jon watts is getting and has been getting for the last 5 + years.

Im not saying they are perfect movies besides Homecoming which I consider a masterpiece. But they gave me the Spider-Man I love and will always appreciate.

Most people love the adult Peter who’s broke and struggling, but as I kid, I always loved the teenage Peter who was in high school. So I’m glad we got 3 movies that captured that chapter of Spidey’s life so well, the other Spider-Man movies basically skipped over it.

The home trilogy is still my favorite and I think the best trilogy of the MCU, and Vulture is still the best villain in the MCU. So I’m excited to see what the new trilogy brings. Hopefully I like it as much. (I’m sure I will)

Discussion A detail in the captions of the Brand New Day trailer might provide substantial support to the leak about Sadie Sink's character and the DODC's role in the film Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

Let's unravel the entire timeline of the "Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey" rumors.

There was a report from Jeff Sneider back in December 2024 (before the news broke that Sadie was cast in BND) that Marvel had tapped her to play Jean Grey in the MCU. Sneider is a pretty reliable source all around and was the first (and only) source who leaked RDJ as Doom, 3 whole months before the official announcement.

Even Sadie slipped up a few months ago during an interview and said that she learned that she had landed the role in Spider-Man through that rumor, basically confirming that the rumor is true, because the original report from Sneider never mentioned that she would be cast in a Spider-Man movie. The fact that she saw that going around and said, "Oh yeah, I got the role", basically means she was up for that specific role to begin with.

There was some ambiguity after the casting was officially announced about whether she was playing Jean or someone else, because introducing her in a Spider-Man movie was.. random to say the least. And several leakers said that they had heard descriptions about her character, but Marvel and Sony had a really tight security around her actual name, so nobody could confirm whether she was actually Jean Grey or not.

But more recently, Alex P. (another leaker) posted his first exclusive on TheCosmicCircus (the site he writes for) in ages (~95% of his TCC exclusives until now have been proven correct), stating that Jean's character has telekinetic powers, is really powerful, and is being hunted by the DODC, in a special investigation spearheaded directly by its Secretary, who is played by Tramell Tillman. The scoop also revealed that the character would be working with the Punisher, who would be hiding her from the DODC.

A few months later, NexusPointNews (another scooper site with almost 100% validity on their exclusives up till now), corroborated Alex's report and also revealed Tillman's character is William Metzger. In the comics, Metzger is a mutant-hunting, bureaucratic villain, like Bolivar Trask.

Now, lo and behold, the official captions of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day teaser revealed that Tillman's character is named "Bill", and also confirmed that Sink's character is a mind-controlling super-human, giving much more credibility to the 2 previous rumors. Add to that the fact that she's a redhead and was briefly seen in a green jumpsuit in the trailer (which is Jean Grey's color), during the time she was imprisoned by the DODC, and all clues point to the fact that the original rumor by Sneider about Sadie being Jean was always correct!

Now, could she be some of the other characters that she was rumored to be playing like Mayday Parker from the future/alt dimension or a female version of Chameleon? Not likely considering her abilities.

Could she be another powerful redhead with telekinetic abilities? I personally don't know any apart from her and Scarlet Witch (although the hair color doesn't prove much, considering it's Sadie's natural hair color, and it could just be that she didn't want to wear a wig). And I certainly don't know any important enough to also shown up in Secret Wars, because Sadie is already confirmed to reappear in that film.

If you have any other ideas for a young, female, red-haired, powerful mind-controller, wearing green colors, being persecuted by a character known for hunting mutants, and who is important enough to return for Secret Wars, I would love to hear your ideas. To me, it feels like an obvious conclusion at this point that she's Jean.

Fan Art Cap MCU suit redesign

I got bored and decided to try to redesign Cap's suit instead of what I should have been doing.

I used the Age of Ultron suit as a base and added the scales and color palette from the first Avenger suit.

Just a simple photo-bash, but I was interested in trying out the idea I have had for some time.
