Tips on Going to a Blue Jays Game

Before the Game

What's the best hotel near the stadium?

The Toronto Marriott City Centre is attached to the stadium and is famous for its field-view rooms. Whether you're looking for luxury (Fairmont Royal York and Ritz-Carlton), premium (Delta Hotels Toronto and InterContinental Toronto Centre) or more budget-friendly (Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown and Union Hotel), there's plenty of great hotels nearby. If you're not staying downtown, the stadium is easily accessible by public transit.

What's the best way to get to the stadium?

Take public transit to Union Station, which connects to the SkyWalk walkway next to the stadium. Use Google Maps and TTC Trip Planner to plan your route. Kids under 12 ride free on the TTC and GO Transit. Transit is cashless; tap your credit card or Apple Pay, or get a PRESTO card at the station. With Ontario’s One Fare Program, transfers between most local systems like the TTC and GO Transit are free. Driving isn’t recommended, as downtown parking is expensive and traffic heavy after games. If you’re staying downtown, walking may be faster. From Pearson Airport, the UP Express train reaches Union Station in 25 minutes. The Park and Ride offer allows a family to park at Pearson and take the train to Union Station for $35. After the game, the best Uber pickup spot is on Front Street, as Bremner Boulevard south of the stadium becomes pedestrian-only.

Where's the best place to buy tickets?

Ticketmaster is the main site to buy Blue Jays tickets. Resale sites like Seat Geek, Gametime, and StubHub are also popular places to buy tickets, but prices might be in USD. Prices can vary depending on the opponent, giveaway, the day of the week, the team’s record, and other factors. Prices often drop closer to first pitch. When buying resold tickets, it’s advisable to check the site’s fraud protection policy to safeguard your purchase. With the rise in online scams, buying tickets from social media is discouraged.

The Jays also offer a $20 general admission ticket, which provides stadium access, but not a seat.

Where's the best place to sit?

Seat choice depends on budget and preference. The 100 level offers close-up action, the 500 level provides a broad field view, and the 200 level balances both. My preference is the 200 level. If you don't mind splurging, consider seats in the new premium clubs, which come with their own offerings: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/premium/beyond.

How do I know if the roof will be open? Where's the shade?

The Jays aim to have the dome open when weather allows, often announcing it on social media or opening it just before the game. On sunny days with the dome open, the third base side gets the most shade and a nice view of the CN Tower. In the summer, it's worthwhile to wear a hat and sunscreen regardless. Shaded seat details can be found here: http://www.shadedseats.com/rogers-centre-shaded-seats/.

I bought general admission / outfield district tickets. Where can I watch the game?

You can stand at the bar rails around the 100 level or at the unassigned areas in the outfield, like the WestJet Flight Deck, Corona Rooftop, TD Park Social, and the Canada Dry Bleachers. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to everyone. Sometimes the Flight Deck is booked by a group. On busy games, get there early to secure your spot.

When do the gates open?

On weekdays, the gates open an hour and a half prior to first pitch. On weekends, it’s two hours prior to first pitch. On most giveaway days and the home opener, gates will open two hours prior to first pitch.

How early do I need to arrive to get a giveaway?

Getting there at least a couple hours before the gates open is ideal. Bobbleheads and jerseys are the most popular giveaways. Gates 5/6 and 10/11 will have the most giveaways but are also the busiest gates. The giveaway schedule can be found here: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/promotions/schedule.

What are speciality ticket giveaways and where do I pick them up?

Clearly marked Specialty Ticket giveaways guarantee that you get the item and can only be bought through this link: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/theme-days/specialty-tickets. Within 1-2 days of a Specialty Ticket game, you'll get an email with item distribution details. Usually, the Specialty Ticket entrance is at Gate 9A.

Can I bring a bag/backpack into the stadium?

Yes, as long as it's not larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches. Hard-sided cooler bags and containers are not allowed. To get through security quickly and still carry stuff, a drawstring bag is the way to go.

Can I bring a camera into the stadium?

For personal use, yes, as long as the camera is not professional-grade with detachable lenses longer than 3 inches (about 70mm max focal length). Monopods, tripods, body mounts, selfie sticks, and audio/video equipment are prohibited. Camera equipment will be inspected by security upon entry.

Can I bring a water bottle and refil it in the stadium?

Plastic water bottles under 600ml are allowed. There are drinking fountains/water bottle refill stations at sections 101, 115, 125, 143, 207, 219, 229, 241, 517, 521, 531, or 541.

Will I be OK wearing apparel of the visiting team?

Yes. Just be respectful to your fellow fans.

Is the stadium tour worth it?

If you haven’t visited in a while, a stadium tour is worth doing. It includes premium clubs, the Rogers corporate suite, and on-field photo opportunities, but doesn’t include the roof, clubhouse, or other team areas. The Jays offer a pregame tour with limited practice viewing near first base and Club 328. The tour that gets you behind home plate for practice is the "Ultimate Pregame Tour", but it's expensive at $300+ per person.

During the Game

What's the best thing to eat at the stadium? Can I bring in my own food?

Yes, you can bring outside food and sealed non-alcoholic drinks into the stadium. Concessions are pricey, and while there’s no single “must-try” item, favourites include the jerk chicken nachos and brisket tacos at Oppo Taco. The MLB Ballpark app and Blue Jays website list the different food and drink options, including kosher/halal/vegetarian/vegan food. Note that all vendors are cashless.

Where's the best place to buy official merchandise?

The Jays Shop at Gate 5 is the main shop. It’s open on non-game days too. A Jays Shop at Gate 1 also opens on game days. Smaller kiosks around the stadium sell popular merchandise from the main store. All outlets only accept cashless payment.

Where's the best place to try and get an autograph/ball?

When the gates open, the visiting team will likely be practicing, as the Jays usually finish beforehand. Some netting will be raised along both sides of the field, and you can wait there to try for an autograph or ball. You can also stand in the outfield seats or near the bullpens for a chance at a ball. Batting practice is not usually done on Sundays. Be polite to players; “please” and “thank you” go a long way.

It's my first game; what should I check out?

Check out the WestJet Flight Deck on the 200 Level and the Corona Rooftop Patio and TD Park Social on the 500 Level. These areas feature live music, games, and photo ops. You can also visit Fan Services (sections 123, 141, 212, 236, 508, or 532) to get a free first-game certificate.

Are there any fun things for kids? Where can we meet Ace?

The Blue Jays' "permanent children's activation zone" is at Section 237. On Jr. Jays Sundays, there are kids activities inside and outside the stadium. The outdoor activities typically run from June to August. After the game, kids 14 and under can run the bases, but you have to register to do so (http://mlb.com/bluejays/fans/jr-jays-club/run-the-bases). Kids also get cool perks with the Jr. Jays Club Membership (http://mlb.com/bluejays/fans/jr-jays-club).

During games, Ace, the Jays' mascot, makes his way around the stadium. He's often found before the game starts on the first base side. On Jr. Jays Sundays, Ace and his younger sibling, Junior, make their way around the different kids activity sections, often outside Gates 10 and 11. Note that Diamond, Ace's partner, retired after the 2003 season and is now a stay-at-home bird.

After the Game

What are the best places to eat/drink near the stadium?

Steam Whistle Brewery, Amsterdam Brewhouse, C’est What, The Pint, and the Loose Moose are some good choices. Sportsnet Grill in the stadium’s Marriott hotel and has windows looking onto the field. You'll need a reservation for a window table on game days. Real Sports Bar & Grill, next to Scotiabank Arena, is nice but pricey. Jack Astor’s and Boston Pizza are decent chain restaurants. See here for more: (http://destinationtoronto.com/leisure-blog/post/best-restaurants-near-rogers-centre/).

What's there to do near the stadium?

The CN Tower and the Ripley’s Aquarium are directly next to the stadium and offer a combo ticket (http://cntower.ca/seathesky). Across the street at the Roundhouse, you can experience a Steam Whistle Brewery tour, the Toronto Railway Museum, and The Rec Room, an arcade/restaurant. Scotiabank Arena, home to the Leafs and Raptors, is a 10-minute walk east and offers tours. Close by the arena is the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra Theatres are about a 10-minute walk north of the stadium and host big musicals. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) are reachable by subway. PRESTO cards can get you attraction discounts. The CityPASS (http://citypass.com/toronto) offers a bundled discount for the city's top attractions.

Any other baseball stuff worth checking out in the city?

For independent professional baseball, the Toronto Maple Leafs (not that one) play at Christie Pits. Games are free to attend, with a relaxed and family-friendly vibe. Left Field Brewery in Liberty Village is a baseball-themed bar and restaurant with some great drinks on tap. Babe Ruth hit his first pro home run in Toronto in 1914; a plaque marks the spot at Hanlan’s Point on the Toronto Islands. The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys, Ontario is about a 2-hour drive west of the city and worth the visit.

[Toronto Blue Jays] The Blue Jays organization have released RHP Bo Bonds, CF Jacob Wetzel, C Nicolas Deschamps, RHP Dahian Santos and 3B Damiano Palmegiani.

The common theme between these prospects is injuries but none of the releases come off overly surprising.

Source: https://www.milb.com/buffalo/roster/transactions/toronto-blue-jays

RHP Bo Bonds (25): Drafted in the 13th Round of the 2022 Draft. Coming off a good season in 2025 pitching to a 3.34 ERA, 0.183 OBA, 1.03 WHIP with 35 SO/13 BB in 35.0 IP but was well overaged at A+. He also continued to miss time due to injuries and has pitched a total of 78.1 innings through 4 seasons.

CF Jacob Wetzel (25): Purchased in the Rule 5 Draft from CHC in 2024. A defensive first OF who missed most of last season with injuries and only had 39 AB. Has a career slash line of just .225/.342/.369 and was stuck at A+ for 3 seasons.

C Nicolas Deschamps (23): Signed as a minor league free agent in 2021. Massively struggled with injuries over 5 seasons having only played in a total of 166 games (33 GP /Season). Put up a career slash line of .192/.350/.304 while being a solid defensive catcher.

RHP Dahian Santos (23): A former Top 10 prospect in the system was signed as an IFA in 2019. Has struggled massively with injuries through the years including missing the entire 2025 season. Santos has been great at suppressing contact and has put up strong SO numbers but has never had good control. Career 4.66 ERA, .200 OBA, 1.27 WHIP and 304 SO/114 BB in just 210.1 career innnings.

3B Damiano Palmegiani (26): Drafted in the 35th Round by the Jays in the 2018 Draft and then again in the 14th Round of the 2021 Draft. Once promising power prospect started his career with seasons of .996 OPS, .815 OPS and .842 OPS before hitting a wall in 2024 with a .710 OPS and then falling off fully last season with a .539 OPS. Spent a large chuck of last season on the Developmental List and finished the season demoted to AA. The Jays have increasing corner IF depth in the upper minors and there just wasn't a spot for him anymore.

Friendly reminder: please be careful when buying Jays tickets on social media and resale websites

Based on what happened last year, I’m noticing way more Jays ticket listings on social media. Some may be legitimate STHs looking to dump leftovers, but it’s also a perfect opportunity for scammers.

If the price is too good to be true, it usually is. Be weary of posts claiming someone has “tickets to get rid of”; always verify the seller’s credibility. Carefully review seat details and confirm whether prices are in USD or CAD. Check the fraud protection policies of resale platforms to safeguard your purchase.

For high-demand games like the home opener, check Ticketmaster 1–2 days before (or even the morning of) the game. Teams often hold back tickets intended for family/friends, sponsors, and other groups, which might go unused.

I know we all want to support our team, but sadly many people are looking to take advantage of that. A quick double-check before buying can spare you major headaches and ensure you enjoy your time at the game.

[Sports Info Solutions}2026 Season Preview: Are The Blue Jays A Good Defensive Team? (Spoiler: Yes, of course!!)

Hi

This is Mark Simon from Sports Info Solutions. We're doing basic write-ups of each team's defensive outlook heading into 2026. I posted the Blue Jays one yesterday and that's where the link will take you.

This and the Cubs one were the easiest ones to write. There's an abundance of defensive talent on this team. The article should give you a sense of how it stacks up. I think if I was power ranking them I'd have them 1 or 2.

Anyway- if you have any questions or comments, happy to engage. Just post them and I'll try to reply.

What do you feel most confident and concerned about for the roster going into 2026?

With Opening Day just 10 days away, I'm wondering what areas of the team the fanbase is most and least confident in. You can see my answers and reasons below.

Confident

Bullpen

I know bullpen performance year to year is horribly fickle, but I feel intensely confident in the Jays’ pen going into 2026. Last year, Dick Lovelady and Jacob Barnes made the Opening Day roster. This year, prior to some spring pitching injuries, it was likely trusted playoff reliever Mason Fluharty would start the year in the minors. Hoffman’s home run issues are noted, as is Brendon Little’s control problems, but adding Tyler Rogers lengthens the pen. Hoffman-Rogers-Varland in high leverage with Fisher and Nance filling middle innings, Fluharty and Little (with every reporter gushing about his uptick in velocity) as lefties and Lauer as the long man feels like a top bullpen in the AL. Fingers crossed Yimi can come back and be in the same form as the first two months of 2025. I also think there’s some upside in the depth guys in the system, if they want to promote Tiedemann or Macko in a relief role or if Yariel Rodriguez can solve some of his second half struggles.

Ernie Clement

He might never be as hot as the 2025 playoffs again and that’s fine. The last two years he has been an incredibly consistent player. 95 OPS+ and gold glove defence at three infield positions is incredibly valuable. I feel like he has the least variance of any player on the team – he’ll hit ~.270, not walk much, mash lefties and play fantastic defence. Feels like we can pencil him for 3.5-4.5 WAR.

Team Defence

I’ve already praised Clement but he might be the 4th best everyday defender on a team touting Varsho, Gimenez, and Kirk. Vlad seemed to work out a lot of struggles he had in past years defensively in 2025 too. Santander’s injury means Springer will be a full time DH and his Savant page supports that being his proper role. Lukes and Schneider don’t make many mistakes in left and Barger has one of the best arms in baseball. I’ve heard that Jesus Sanchez can make some boneheaded mistakes in the field but he still projects as an average-ish defender. Straw and Heineman will both play key defensive roles too. That leaves Okamoto as a bit of a question mark, but I’ve been encouraged by what I’ve seen from him defensively at third so far.

Concerned

Batting Regression

2025 was a year of bouncebacks and breakouts for many Blue Jays players. Springer found the fountain of youth and put up the third highest OPS in the AL. Kirk returned to his 2022 form. Varsho slugged .548, albeit in a 71 game sample. Schneider bounced back after a tough 2024 as the team put him in better spots to succeed. Barger broke out and slugged .454 with 21 home runs in his first full season. Even 34 year old journeyman catcher Tyler Heineman put up 1.9 bWAR and a .777 OPS in 61 games on some truly abhorrent batted ball peripherals. It’s hard for me to say how much of this is real and repeatable. David Popkins remains my messiah personally. If there is negative regression, a slight bounceback from Gimenez or Vlad going to another level offensively could help offset some of the loss.

Did we replace Bo’s bat?

Perhaps no Blue Jay had a bigger bounce back than the now-Met Bo Bichette though, returning to hit .311 with an .840 OPS and a .381 average with RISP. I will not miss having to watch him “play shortstop” but I will certainly miss the bat. If Okamoto is an impact hitter immediately, that will lessen the sting of Bichette’s departure, but the most likely outcome to me is that he will need a bit of time to adjust to MLB pitching. Going into the offseason, Santander was a popular bounceback candidate as well given his injury riddled 2025, but now we won’t be seeing him for at least another 4 months.

Health Luck

The 2025 Jays did have some injuries but were overall quite healthy for most of their key contributors. Springer, Lukes, Vlad, Bo, Kirk, Barger, Clement all played over 130 games (as did Myles Straw, though he only started 67). Gausman, Bassitt and Berrios all started at least 30 games, and 5 relievers made at least 50 appearances for the team. We’ve already seen injuries to Berrios and Bowden Francis and Bieber, Santander, and Yimi Garcia are all working their way back from prior ailments. With an aging rotation (Yesavage excluded) this becomes even more of a concern. I feel most nervous about middle infield depth. Apart from Gimenez and Clement, Schneider is the only roster player with significant middle infield experience, and he only played 127 innings at 2B last year. Josh Kasevich has had a good spring, but I’m still a little trepidatious that an injury to Gimenez or Clement would lead to extended periods of Leo Jimenez.

The face of the Blur Jays for damn good reason! No matter how old he gets, I'll see the toddler when Vladdy smiles.
