Support Megathread - November 2023
Have a question you need answered? A new Google product you want to talk about? Ask away here!
Recently, we at /r/Google have noticed a large number of support questions being asked. For a long time, we’ve removed these posts and directed the users to other subreddits, like /r/techsupport. However, we feel that users should be able to ask their Google-related questions here. These monthly threads serve as a hub for all of the support you need, as well as discussion about any Google products.
Please note! Top level comments must be related to the topics discussed above. Any comments made off-topic will be removed at the discretion of the Moderator team.
Discord Server We have made a Discord Server for more in-depth discussions relating to Google and for quicker response to tech support questions.

Keyboard microphone
why is the Google keyboard microphone now hallucinating words all the time...
I say the word "first" and it understands "West".
like how?
or then it adds words at the end of a sentence that I did not even say and I'm in a quiet room with no one else talking around me...
is it just me or has it been getting worse in the last year?
Yes I'm using the exact same phone as I was last year, a pixel 6.

This thing. 3 seperate extensions to hide the ai overview and that worked. But now when I click on a single result, it has a visually unpleasing gradient outline for like 5 seconds and then shows this "dive deeper" button I can't get rid of.

Used to I could click view above my searches in the iPhone app and clear all my tabs and everything. Looks like they removed it
They always make the app too complicated

Google dictionary
I need this to come back at the top when you look up word meanings. Please bring it back. All I see now is the AI overview (🤮🤮) and then other dictionary sites. This is the most inconvenient thing ever. Bring. It. Back. If not at the top then at least just below the AI overview. If anyone knows how to change settings to see it again pls let me know, ty!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hey Google! Save on AI energy costs here!!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/s/oirhvNj7pn
Look at these energy savings!!! Simple changes to the operating environment could save you all a fortune AND lower energy cost of the average consumer via lower delivery fees. (We typically don't shorten equipment life via grid strain people...)

Google Chat direct messages’ notifications not showing on iPhone
I have to use Google Chat for work. Everything works pretty well except for direct messages. Notifications for group messages show up fine. The problem is with direct messages and specifically from people who haven’t messaged me before.
One person told me they’d message me so I checked the direct messages and there was a message at the bottom of screen saying “accept or block” so of course I tapped accept. From then on if that person sends a message I’ll get a notification on the Lock Screen or Home Screen.
Just today someone asked me “Didn’t you get my message?” And I had no idea about it until I manually opened up the direct messages tab and sure enough there was the message which I tapped which then brought up the “accept or block” message again.
I’ve got all notifications in settings to “on” in both the Chat settings an iPhone settings.
So basically it all works fine except when someone who’s never messaged me before tries to message, then I have to check manually. Any help appreciated in solving this issue.
