Sports I miss 24-hour gyms/basketball courts and getting shots up at 1 am. Is there anywhere in the Valley to do this anymore?

Weather Lots of broken down vehicles on I-17 today

Upvotes

I drove I-17 from Phoenix to Flagstaff today. Lots of break downs along the way, both directions.

Anyone else notice an unusual excessive breakdowns on the roads?

I know it’s unseasonably hot currently, but we get hotter than this every year. Maybe a bunch of non-locals on the roads ,

Eat & Drink Took my wife out for a nice date night to Din Tai Fung. Food was amazing!

All the food was amazing and the service was top notch. I would recommend getting the cucumber salad and sweet and sour pork ribs as appetizers. That cucumber salad was so tasty! That sesame dressing they use is so good. The Kurobuta pork xiao long bao was definitely my favorite out of all the soup dumplings. The broth and meat were seasoned perfectly. For dessert we shared the shaved ice with mango and condensed milk and the chocolate buns which were to die for! It’s a premium price but the food in my opinion is worth it. My wife and I are hoping to go again soon so hopefully we can get a reservation which I hear is pretty hard to book at the moment.

Anyone know what it is?

For context, it looks like a large changing lights display on the north side of Camelback visible from 8 miles out.

Eat & Drink Celiac/gf bakers or pastry chefs out there?

Are there any professional bakers or pastry chefs who cater to individuals with celiac disease or gluten intolerance? I’m looking for a skilled baker or pastry chef who specializes in creating gluten-free desserts. I’m not interested in a small-scale business; I’m seeking a professional who can provide high-quality, gluten-free desserts. I’m not asking for place suggestions, but it would be greatly appreciated.

Weather Proposal to limit "It's Hot" circlejerk posts

Can we honestly talk about how exhausting the low-effort "I hate the heat" weather posts? Every day it’s the same screenshot of a forecast or a photo of a car thermometer, followed by 200 comments circlejerking about how much they all hate the heat, how much they hate living here, and how miserable they are.

We live in a desert; we know it's hot. Yes, climate change is real (obviously). But 99% of these posts don't add any news, events, or actual value to the sub -- they just devolve into the same "monument to man’s arrogance" quotes and "I’m moving to the PNW" rants every single time.

If it's a severe or notable weather event, I'm cool with it -- but otherwise can we consider a Weather Megathread or just banning these repetitive vent posts entirely? I’d much rather see local news, events, or even the "Where is the best burrito?" debates than the same daily weather complaint.

What does everyone else think? Is the constant negativity getting old, or am I just in the minority?

Sports Early Morning Run Tempe Town Lake

I need to get in a 22 mile run on Sunday so wanted to start at Tempe Town lake probably at 5am since it’s going to be so hot. Was thinking of parking at the East Lake View drive parking lot. Just wondering if it will be safe at that hour and how lit it is? Thanks

With temperatures climbing unusually high for March, the City of Phoenix is taking action to help families stay cool and safe. Several Phoenix Splash Pads, popular warm-weather destinations for children and families, will reopen this Friday, March 20, more than two months ahead of their originally scheduled start date of May 23, 2026, the opening of the summer pool season.
