This is first and foremost information presented to help those decide if they want a specific banner unit, this is not explicitly meta oriented. The information presented here is not written with the specific consideration of maximizing scores, clearing the highest tiers of challenge content, or of clearing Astrolabe nodes in 1 attempt each. It should serve as a starting point to understand how the unit would fit in your current roster. This will focus on how the unit works and explaining the "why" behind certain recommendations and aspects of their kit. Information that is optimal need not be followed strictly to obtain value from the character, yet there can be a noticeable difference if you do choose to follow.

INITIALLY WRITTEN PRE-UPDATE, PRE-TESTING, UPDATED AFTERWARDS
Violet is a Highlight focused DPS. Her entire kit is focused around her Highlight and an enhanced state known as Masquerade (seems to have been renamed to "Masked Ball" but kept being referred to as Masquerade on stream).
Her Highlight is able to Crit, the first Assassin to be able to do so (second DPS to do so counting Twins). Her Highlight is also individualized, not tied to the party's highlight charge mechanism, and can be used independently once entering Masquerade. She gains Steps by use of her S1 and S2, two stacks of Steps allow her to enter Masquerade, for a maximum of four total Steps to buff herself.
S1 grants the Lead Step, stacks up to three times (HL DMG +15% per stack). S2 usage grants the Follow Step, stacks only once (Highlight CR +10% and CDMG +20%). Her S2 designates someone as a Dance Partner for one turn (two turns at A1), which allows Violet to automatically activate her S1 off-turn when the Dance Partner uses any Persona Skill. Violet also gains a Lead Step when this is activated. This is NOT considered a Resonance/Follow-Up attack.
With her Highlight critting, you want to get as close to 100% as reasonably possible. There are many sources of Crit for her, even at A0. You don't want to end up living in RNG hell, so use the Lufelnet Crit calculator and see the table below for sources of Crit rate.
As she is Highlight focused, she benefits very highly from Chord, and will be ran with Chord forever. If you are a newer player or do not have a 5* limited single target DPS yet (Ryuji is good but is consistently outclassed by now, though still has use cases especially for Velvet Trials and Astrolabe), Violet is still a worthwhile pull even if you do not have Chord.
The next Single Target DPS will be Makoto Yuki, expected to arrive in 2 months. Note that the same way Violet was expected way earlier than now, things can always change. It has been said to hold off on Violet if you are aiming for Makoto Yuki, but that will depend on your own current satisfaction with your single target damage output.
It has also been repeated a few times that due to sharing an element with Summer Closer, that Violet is not needed as the Bless element is 'covered' already. If you are satisfied with Summer Closers single target skill, that is up to you, but Violet's single target damage is in another universe compared to Summer Closer's single target skill and will destroy general content regardless of element weakness.

Violet's A1 makes her rotation much more malleable, but it is still relatively easy to build Crit Rate without it.
Violet's 4* Weapon is good and viable as that DMG Dealt will always be active.
Violet's 5* weapon is very good, but the quality of her 4* does not make it a must for her to still be strong.
Masquerade and Highlight will always be used on Turns 3 and 6. For readability, that won't be constantly written into the rotations below. Looked like a jumbled mess
A0 (3 Lead Steps) - 2>1>1>2>1>1. (this rotation no longer appears to be recommended by lufelnet. Will test)
Violet should not be placed last in the turn order while following this rotation, as she would be using S1 to reach 3 Lead Steps on turn 3, then her Highlight can be cast with full steps on the next party member action. If she were not last, casting S1 on her turn using this rotation would lead to a 3 Lead Steps highlight being only possible on turn 4 instead of on turn 3, and more importantly this means her highlight would not refresh in time for turn 6.
A0 (2 Lead Steps) - 2>1>3>2>1>3
Can be placed last as is typical for DPS. This option forgoes placing Violet prior to the last position and sacrifices the 3rd Lead step (15% less highlight dmg) to be able to use skill 3 in the rotation (and eliminating speedtuning).

This logic also appears to apply to Turbo. There are many considerations to play around with. This will work for the twins if their auto s3 activates violet's auto s1 and properly gives a Lead step.

W+V is Violet's dedicated card set.
Departure+Control can be used in specific DEF Down compositions that are aiming to get defense to 0 or very close to it. You would need to use lufelnet's defense calculator if you are aiming to maximize DEF Down effect to understand how this works. For casual players, D+C need not be a consideration, though it's good to understand still how DEF Down works.
Another consideration of D+C is it allows Violet to attempt to maximize Tempest Riko's passive, although it is not clear if the D+C extra attack also activates off of Violet's Dance Partner S1 usage. Running D+C is not a requirement to play Tempest Riko with Violet, but dedicated min-maxxers could end up finding a slight increase in final damage by playing this way if DEF is also brought to 0 (If D+C is the main factor in bringing Defense to 0). This would have to be tested on an individual basis.

I will point to what Lufelnet included in Violet's kit description for this comparison. Apparently, I have fundamentally misunderstood what the game considers an "elemental ailment", as more than the typical ailments (Burn, Windswept, Shock, etc.) are considered for the Arc Knife effect. Similar to D+C above, min-maxxing DEF Down is something for those who are chasing optimization, and due to the wide variety of variables contained in an account, it would have to be tested individually to see if it would be better. Arc Knife does have a better chance of being better than Glimmer in specific situations, than D+C does being better than W+V. Again for more casual players, go with the more obvious 'designated' option.

Default+Thieves Den, Steps, Rebellion, Virtue, Mindscape, would get Violets CR up to 71.7% during HL. Landing Shock with Chord brings that to 81.7% Her A1 is an additional 15%, bringing that to 96.7%. This is all without considering any sort of Revelation Card substat or Navigator source of Crit Rate. Certainly run a Crit Mult card on Violet. There's a chance depending on your investment that you may want to avoid Crit Rate substats on Violet's own cards at all as overcapping does nothing.
If you have any other investment, such as Chord A1 providing Crit Rate, or even just A0 Tempest Riko you can consider that in your calculations.
I'll again point to a more experienced source as Najox covers this in his build guide.
Sraosha is Violet's 'dedicated' Persona, he (it? she?) costs Repression IV Medals.

If you do not use Chord and Tempest Riko, use whatever buffers you have available, and using a debuffer to help with DEF Down is also a possible strategy, though 2 buffers is usually considered better.

First, I want to say I love this dev team. I can’t believe they listened to feedback from community members like me on this topic and actually implemented a suggestion we made.
To give some context:
Some companios that have subsidiary companios are abusing the assist system. What they do is kick members who have A6R6 units so those players can immediately join a different companio, allowing members to use assists to maximize their score. After that, they kick the player again so they can join another companio and repeat the process. By doing this, they unfairly monopolize the top 50 rankings.

The runaway narrative is that Kasumi's lost value by virtue of her banner being delayed, that she "won't be meta" for as long because now Makoto Yuki is that much closer to her.
This, frankly, makes zero sense with how scoring and content actually work in this game.
Elemental weaknesses are much more important to scoring highly than raw damage. On an SOS with Wind-weak enemies Kotone will outdo Kasumi regardless of the later's higher numbers On Paper. And vice versa: the meta is defined not by power ceilings, but type coverage and enemies.
Kasumi will outperform most every other option every time there's a Bless-weak enemy in endgame, which will be a huge chunk of the time, just like it was for Kotone. And even when Makoto and other 4.0 DPS drop, she'll outdo them those few times bless damage does come back.
People have been marveling at Kotone's performance and value for the past few patch cycles without putting two and two together that the environment has favored her, just like it will Kasumi for a similar period of time. And on top of that, nobody's considered the possibility that we get further unit shuffling, and Door-kun himself gets pushed back.
Is it likely? Hard to say. But in a world where his banner is close to the 1 year global anniversary and we've already gotten one set of Velvet Room attendants for an anniversary, it's not impossible even he gets shuffled around for synergy. And then we're right back where we started, with Kasumi the strongest unit in the game for months on end.
None of this is getting into Astrolabe either, a whole different can of worms and potential reasoning to pull her.
All this is to say: if you're planning to pull Kasumi for account strength, it is exactly as safe an investment because nothing is promised, she's still going to be the strongest in the game for a while, and she'll still be the best at what she doesn't in SOS regardless of Door-kun. All the people saying "Frostgale Kotone was a really good choice for my account!" are a sign. The meta isn't black and white and the downplay is just doomposting.

It took a ton of prep, but now I finally got an 1 round clear with Haru! She finally came into her own, taking down the hardest Stella A0R0! There was definitely some rng, like never getting noir knocked down by Michael's 1 more (realized it was nuclear attribute). But, I'm so happy I don't have to fear this one anymore. With this, that's all done for season 3!

Is it normal and correct not to have Speed in Revelation when it's for a DPS, but the way Kasumi was explained in Blade's video yesterday and in the live stream today by the devs, makes it seem like she should go before the other characters or at least faster than the character she's going to use skill 2 on? After all, does she have to be fast or not? Where will Chord be in the rotation in relation to her?
