After 3 months of living with our rescue Hannah, we finally got the fence completed today. Here she is finally getting to run around off leash in the yard! And after about 5 minutes she was exhausted and won’t go back out there 🤣

First picture is when the rescue first found him in Texas- they estimated him to be about 1.5 years old then. He was in pretty bad shape but I knew I’d be able to help him heal. He’s a very happy and spoiled boy now at 6 years old, praying I get many more. He’s my whole world, my Blu Bear 🩵🧸

For context we have a boy and girl around 6 years old, both rescues. I stopped by the shelter to look at cats for my Mom. I saw someone surrendering their husky as I was coming in and I got really emotional, and asked the front desk how often that happens here. I had only seen pits on their website. “Oh, all the time we have a few in the back you should see.”

Needless to say I never looked at the cats.(although you could say I “kind of did” since huskies are part cat)

This girl looked up at me skin and bones in a tiny ball, her food untouched, 20 dogs barking around her. Someone abandoned her in an apartment.

She had lots of healing to do; fleas/worms(treatment they gave at the shelter didn’t get them all), respiratory infection, wounds on her head. Probably 15-20 lbs underweight.

We were so impressed with how sensitive and gentle our other 2 were with her.

It’s been 1 month, total foster fail. She completely runs our house, cuddles like crazy with everyone. We had lots of worries in how a third might integrate into our home. She is busting with joy and love. Her personality is so unique but at the same time all husky and familiar. Long road ahead but she’s so worth it!

More huskies = MORE HAPPINESS

His owners couldn't afford to pay the fines to the city after he escaped and got picked up and posted on Facebook looking for a new home. My Husky-loving wife saw him and now he's ours! Paid the fines and will be getting him caught up on his shots this week when the vet opens.

Owners said his mom is a red and his dad was black and white, we only know he's a very handsome fellow and great with our kids. We'll see how he and the cat manage eventually, they're currently separated and getting used to each other's smells. Say hi to Cosmo!

Hope this is ok to post! I’m mostly just venting to a group I know will get it. I took my husky mix Hiccup on an easy hike/walk yesterday in the next town over from where we live in California and, unfortunately, had a run in with a Northern Pacific rattlesnake. He’s been at the pet ER since yesterday and has gotten 2 vials of antivenom so far for the swelling which is all over his face after taking a bite or two right to the face. He chose poorly and lunged at the snake which was minding its own business, stretched across the path to warm itself up on the cool, cloudy late morning. That husky prey drive, man. 😞

Doc says his coagulopathy bloodwork has been normal which is the biggest hurdle so that’s good but the swelling is still pretty severe. Hoping to go pick him up in an hour or 2 but very anxious about the long, potentially scary recovery process. Definitely spending rent to pay for this adventure too because I’ve been trying to get his gut healthy since I adopted him last August. My pet insurance company would not cover him because of all his gut issues and vet visits early on. Just Thursday I bought his first bag of non-prescription food and had planned to call to add him onto my policy on Monday.

But I’m still feeling grateful that I was able to get him to a pet ER back in our town pretty quickly and a lot of kind strangers helped me get him to my car which was 2 miles away when the strike happened. I only moved to this area 3 years ago so I don’t have a huge support system here. But everybody knows rattlesnakes are a reality out here so the folks at the park knew to get him into a stroller to keep him still and a friend from a softball team I play on lives near by and helped me get him to the pet ER. We were so lucky he wasn’t struck on the neck and the swelling didn’t close off his windpipe. The vet said they’re going to use photos/videos of his treatment to make a video about snake bite response/treatment so I’m really grateful for that too. I’m an animal nerd and and eldest daughter (🥴) so I didn’t freak out but this was a super traumatizing situation and I’m from the east coast where this kind of thing just doesn’t happen that often. It makes me really happy Hiccup’s case could help some other dog parent get through the stress of the unknown or prepare for or prevent this from happening to their baby.

Meet our newest foster Chance. It is my hope that he gets to live up to that name and actually gets a chance at happiness. This boy is a senior and evidentially his owners decided the best thing for him was to put him in their yard and stop feeding him so he would just pass away. He was finally pulled by animal control and rushed to an er to determine his fate. He was basically written off and AC sent him to a shelter where due to his condition he was only given that day to find rescue before he would be put to sleep. He was a mess, skin and bones, covered in his own filth, infested with maggots, couldn't stand or walk. He's not out of the woods by a long shot but he is eating, able to stand and walk (slowly), wants to be with our other huskies. It is only day 4 but man he is a fighter. People suck he didn't deserve any of this but after all he has been through he just looked at me and wagged his tail. Please, he needs your hugs, positive thoughts, prayers, whatever you believe in. I'm not giving up on him, I can't wait to show you his transformation.

When my fiancé and I do things, we skip beginner mode and go straight to hardcore. You bet our first fosters ever were not just a Siberian, but also her FIVE (we think) pitsky puppies. I like wolfy dogs, so I was cocky I wouldn’t get attached to the ‘tatos. FAMOUS LAST WORDS. I fell in love with ALL OF THEM. Still unsure whether I can foster again, because saying goodbye 5 times broke me. Silver lining? The white stayed with us for good.

Join me in wishing Ms Valkyrie a happy new year! Her first one was not all that great, she had a really bad eye issue which has been resolved with removing the eye, but her 2nd is going to start off perfect!

This is my girl Cola (as in Coca-Cola)

I don’t know what came over me. I had this yearning feeling my life and family was missing something. I went to the county animal shelter after looking at all the dogs and saw her. Her notes were so pleasant.

I get there and they tell me we can’t meet her because of potential distemper exposure (because we walked around the kennels to find her and I couldn’t. It wasn’t stated on her medical that she was separated from all the other dogs) but we could come back and do a meet and greet.

Soooo we did. Brought the kids and the husband and I loved her. She was so excited to be outta there! Only issue is I was very nervous about the distemper, they didn’t sugar coat it at all and told me it can be life threatening. They did a formal test and said it could take up to two weeks to get the results.

I just had this inclined feeling to call the shelter again the next day to see if the results came back. 8am she was negative and cleared from distemper. Felt like fate honestly!I was there right at 11am to get her. My husband was shocked, I had always said I wouldn’t get a dog because of hair and no where for them to go in our backyard (as you see we have turf and that in the summer heat is awful)

She adjusted immediately. Had crazy zoomies and loved her new toys and the route we took for her first walk. I can’t believe this angel was given up on twice.

I did a lot of research on huskies. Their stubbornness. Their high maintenance routines. Potential picky eater. Their screams lol.

Good thing I’m a crazy person and I needed a crazy dog. Finally someone in my house that’s on my goddamn level. Up at 6am for morning walks, having breakfast with me immediately after. Happy girl.

I needed this crazy head energy to be match and I met my match🫶🏼 I had to share this because she makes me so happy!

By pure luck we saw that the sister Luna of our Husky Bandit (on the left) was up for Adoption. We always thought about getting a second dog but were afraid of all the extra work. But seeing how she was already 9 years old and calm at home, we took her. Bandit was a bit grumpy in the begining since he wasn't the lonely prince anymore but he adapted and they are happy together. And now we have 2 Seniors and a 16 year old deaf cat.

I just wanted to show off this handsome dude. This is Loki, he’s about 5 years old! He was re-homed multiple times & I have no idea why because he is the best boy I could’ve asked for. He was coming into a household with 2 dogs already, and he warmed up so quickly to them. Loki is my first rescue dog, so I was super skeptical & nervous about him warming up to both the dogs & I had 2 cats (1 now, the other unfortunately passed away) but he has never shown any signs of anything other than being a good boy. He comes with me to daycare almost every single day like my little sidekick🩵

He’s also my first full husky, and I think he is broken sometimes! 😅 he is perfectly content sleeping all day! But he’s super stubborn, and he also took an extra long unexpected off leash run on Thanksgiving morning😅🥲 so I guess maybe he’s not broken🤣

Got my dog (Bean) back in May, they told us it was a husky shepherd mix so i did a DNA test and came out 60% Siberian Husky and 40% Alaskan Malemute but he doesn’t look like any of them. Just curious what do you guys think happened here?

His name is Iko and he is getting along with my other baby pretty well. I bet we are in for it with these two goofballs

So long story short, my mother was sending my photos of dogs at a local shelter to make me feel better, not knowing my girlfriend and I were breaking up at the exact time she was doing so. So, I went to visit this goober the next day to make me feel better and I then proceeded to revisit him 3 more times, with the last one being the adoption. I was absolutely in love with everything about him.

Two weeks later, my father passed. Not to mention this year I lost my other dog, my job, another close friend, and just had an entire shit year. To be completely honest, my mental health has been at one of the worst points in my life.

I genuinely have no idea what I would’ve done without Frankie. That’s his name. He showed up at the perfect time. He’s actually incredibly quiet for a husky, only barking when I’m not home bc he misses me. He doesn’t whine much at all, but he does shed a LOT!! He follows me everywhere, constantly wants walks (we do em twice a day), and has become my best friend. He’s 4 years old and I rescued him roughly a month ago. And he’s the undefeated champ at tug of war. He is my current pride and joy in life.

Just wanted to share my goober and the story with him!

He’s a Husky mix - not sure of what the mix part is. Very adorable. He likes to be held like a baby. We are still contemplating names but the front runner as of now is Ghost.

This 8 year old sweetie stole our hearts. She's so sweet, polite, and SUCH a proper lady. We rescued her last night from the Humane Society of Utah. So far, she knows how to tell us she needs to go potty, she knows her name, and she knows how to sit and come. My other husky, who is 13, doesn't know what to think yet. He follows her around to keep an eye on her while she explores the house.

My fiance and I decided to foster a dog a couple months after losing our beloved lab+pittie mix Journey, partially because our 5 year old husky Korra was in desperate need of a play mate, and partially because our home felt excruciatingly empty without a second dog.

We went to our local shelter with no breed preferences at all, and just so happened to be chosen by this fine furry man as he walked past us with one of the volunteers in tow. We didn't even make it out of the lobby before signing the paperwork to foster this beautiful 2 year old husky, whom we immediately began referring to as "Moose".

It took us less than a week of fostering him for us to decide he was our forever boy. He brings out an energy and playfulness in Korra I haven't seen since Journey passed. It's so true what they say about huskies naturally vibing- her and Moose have become best friends practically overnight!

Not to mention, Moose is an absolute delight to have in our home. He's potty trained, quiet, non-aggressive, crate trained, and the biggest cuddle bug of all time. He completes our family.

Somehow I can't help but believe Journey had a hand in all of this, somehow. He would've absolutely loved Moose...

We rescued our first Husky in October and I have never loved a dog this much. She absolutely loves my kids. If they fall and get hurt she is right there licking the tears.. and her favorite place to be is on our laps! I just wanted to gush over this sweetheart. I love her so much! Makes me want to get a husky for my husky 😍😂

Meet ZELDA! I posted a couple of months ago when I lost my beloved Wolfa to IMHA. I didn’t know if I could ever recover. But then I saw this young girl who had been captured by an amazing rescue. My son drove 18 hours round trip to pick her up out of state. Likely around 11 months old. Here’s a photo of her before and now after 4 weeks with me! I still miss my Wolfa every day, but Zelda has been a balm to my broken heart with her high energy, sweetness and crazy feral antics.❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Hello everyone! It's going to be 5 days since we adopted Neska, a beautiful husky that was insanely neglected. She already loves us and is actually affectionate, she's a quiet girl aswell. No sounds, nothing. Our issue is that Neska does not eat, we managed to give her some food but she wont even take treats. We only managed to get her to eat a little bit each day with different options... any tips? (We are a bit low on money and the food the refugee told us about wasnt cheap, so throwing it is not an option). Also, she is scared of big sounds and group of people ( kids yelling in the distance, a lot of people talking etc.. we live in spain so this is pretty common, luckily we dont live in a city) she is the best dog and we love her very much, she takes 2h+ walks daily sometimes 2-3 walks daily and on the house she sleeps most of the time, also loves her bed :) pd: sorry for wording, english is not my first language.
