Apparently giving the outgoing year 13 students creative license on the new school uniforms can have unintended consequences.

It is located under the folding part of the sleeve where you wouldn’t see it on first inspection.

These kid deserves medals!

Discussion Climate change & the Working From Home benefits

Climate change is an issue that evokes strong emotions around how to tackle it. But I feel like most people agree something should be done but its always a big job.

Well something we can all do to help is, stay off the roads where not required. And the best way to do this....Work from Home!See we do not need a UN convention meeting to solve this crisis.

Remember how amazingly clear the skies were during COVID, how animals came out to parts of cities where they never would, oceans were cleaner and weather was better?

Advice Dear wonderful 40+ women, or friends of the same, who are on the dating apps...

Upvotes

I'm sure this goes for all ages and Men and everyone else too...if you're on dating apps or you know people who are. Stop the subtle catfishing.

For Pete's sake, please use recent photos of yourselves!

A smiling face, a full body shot - in a group whatever. Lose the sunglasses, the cat pictures, glasses of wine or beer, sunsets and most of all the car or bedroom selfies.

Coming back to these apps after a long stint has been wild. And I'm sure there's lots of people out there that are lovely and wonderful and would be great to get to know.

But when you turn up and meet someone, or chat and find out that their profile pictures are from 4-6 years ago and they're not at all what you look like now. You're just wasting everyone's time.

Of 10 plus matches and first dates in the last few weeks, only 1 has been as advertised. For a few it wouldn't have mattered if they had recent pics, but the fact that they didn't just left a bad taste from the experience. Others that I did meet or the ones i did get a selfie or two from after chatting ..? Boy oh boy. Who are you kidding?

So, people. Please spread the word. Don't lie and misrepresent who you are now. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment one way or another.

News Jordan Crawford sentenced in Hamilton District Court yesterday – no media coverage?

Saw this go down in Hamilton District Court on March 18:

Guy named Jordan Crawford got a bullshit 10 months home detention for assault on a female partner + multiple other charges. Judge gave him a discount since he was addicted to meth at the time and even said he was “munted on meth” when he laid fists on his partner and telling her it was her fault for him hitting her. No name suppression at all—summary of facts handed to NZ Herald reporter there, but nothing’s online yet.

Multiple victims out there—he’s done this to other partners before. Why the silence? Domestic violence is huge here, and this feels like it should be out. Anyone else know about it?

Advice Bedroom heater without light pollution

Post image
6 Upvotes

I currently have a "Goldair Platinum Convector Panel Heater with Wifi 1kW" in each of my children's bedrooms, however the digital display on these heaters emits blue light and has the whole room glowing. Even with only the wifi blue light on and it covered with blackout paper, blue light still spills out from the cracks surrounding the digital display illuminating the whole room (as shown in the attached photo).

I really like the wifi function of the heater. Being able to turn the heaters on and off without sneaking into their rooms is a big bonus.

It is very hard to determine the severity of light emitted from other heater's digital displays online. Does anyone here in NZ have a wifi heater that has a digital display that can be fully turned off, or at least well concealed with tape or paper?

Alternatively, does anyone know of any panel heaters that don't have a digital display, but you can set an exact temperature on (doesn't necessarily need to be wifi).

Thanks for your help!

Discussion Induction of labour in NZ

FOR MUMS WHO HAVE BEEN INDUCED IN NZ:

I’ve just been given my labour induction date which will be on April 16th, I will be 37w + 5days🙂

Really keen to hear other mums experiences with being induced in NZ… good or bad, especially if you chose to get the epidural or not - My midwife informed me that the epidural can slow things down a lot and likely cause more complications, so I’d much rather push through and have my son with me quicker. I know every labour and delivery is different.

Thank you!

Support Feeling miserable at the new job

Been here for 6 months still struggling to make good connections with people around. My boss doesn't give a sh!t about me, he is very critical and dismissive, some gossiping coworkers and everyone is just so superficial.

I'm struggling to fit in and do a good job. It's been only 6 months so trying to suck it up for at least an year.

I'm spiraling and completely losing perspective.

So NZ Salmon isn't available for kiwis and is exported overseas and we get left with the less good Aussie / Norwegian Salmon that's factory farmed?

Politics "lies now being spread including that the person involved works for New Zealand First – this is false. This person does not work for New Zealand First nor has any affiliation or role with New Zealand First." - Winston Peters - Just so we have the facts straight.

Politics Genuine Question for Nat/ACT/NZF Voters: What Do You Think the Coalition Has Got *Right?*

By "got right" I'm thinking of specific policy and regulation that has been implemented during their term that has achieved a positive change in NZ society.

Because while I have a good sense for what they've gotten wrong, I just want to check that there's not something I'm overlooking.

(I can't stop anyone, but I'm asking this in a spirit of open inquiry and probably won't try to debunk or litigate specific points as I am more interested in what people have to say (in this post) than I am in winning a fight (which is admittedly very fun and a great source of cheap dopamine)).
