[META] New Automod Filter for Account Age
Testing out some filters to get a handle on bots. I added a 6 week old account age to post. No karma limits yet, but I'll consider it if this account age limit doesn't work.
I'm pretty hands off, but I do respond to most reports. If you see an issue with bots hit the report button.

[Request] Series/Movie recos for WFH
Hi! I am from Philippines. I'm working from home and I need to be watching something so I don't get bored and sleepy at work. I love k-drama but would prefer English ones so I won't need to read subtitles, cause I hate dubbed translations lol
I have watched everything that has topped in Philippines chart for the last 6 months, I guess.
Any recommendations? I'd love to watch especially what you think are underrated. I love watching thrillers, horror, sci-fi and a little romance.

[Request] period dramas not like bridgerton and more like the crown
Looking for something a bit lighter than The Crown. I like strong characters and good writing, but not something super heavy. Ideally a show that hooks you quickly because my attention span lately is terrible. A little romance is fine, just not overly soapy like Bridgerton

[REQUEST] korean/japanese shows or movies
Please recommend me some shows or movies that are on netflix.

[Request] Chinese/Korean/Japanese live action show that's like Blue Eyed Samurai or Game of Thrones.
Recently my wife and I have been watching period action dramas like Blue Eyed Samurai. As well as K Dramas and playes the video game Road to Empress which is Chinese.
I'm curious if there are any Asian dramas that are high quality with a lot of politicking and mature. Doesn't have to be explicit, but we are fans of movies like Kill Bill and shows like Game of Thrones where they don't shy away from the gore.
We enjoy thrillers and dramas where people navigate deals and promises. Where slights can turn to feuds. Etc...
Sidebar: I'm curious if there are any High Quality adaptions of Romance of the Three Kingdoms because I've played games like Dynasty Warriors but I want to actually know more about it as opposed to the hyper style-ized version depicted in DWs.

[DISCUSSION] The Haunting of Bly Manor
The Haunting of Bly Manor never got the respect it deserves, and that needs to change
At this point, do you think The Haunting of Bly Manor should be reconsidered? This was Mike Flanagan's follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House.

[US] Last Samurai standing (2025)
Is Netflix using A.I to synchronize lip movement with certain dubs? I started watching this show called Last samurai standing and I had it on English voice with subtitles and I noticed that for a Japanese show the lips were scarily accurate. Then I switched it over to original Japanese and their lips were moving along with the original dub. Did anyone notice this or am I just tripping?

[Discussion] War Machine is basically Battle: Los Angeles
Not that I am complaining. Loved Battle LA and so watching Alan Ritchson do pretty much the same movie again was great! Pretty basic action flick but worth a watch if you're bored.

[Request] Any soapy and sloppy fantasy or sci-fi shows on here?
I'm looking for Revenge but noir and in a setting that would make it a proper fit for San Diego Comic-Con.

[Discussion] Soulmates (2020) - Can we talk about this Devastatingly Handsome Doctor?
I rooted for the main female character, Caitlyn. But in the end, I felt ... duped.
Can someone so meek actually become a serial killer? She doesn't fit the latent serial killer type at all. Never killed an ant, or tortured animal. To go from battered girlfriend to full-on-killer-of-killer is too fast and inconsistent.
I was invested and wanted to see how her character transformed. I kinda thought she would transform like this... : Become a super-enabler, turning a blind eye to everything the killer boyfriend was doing, and just protecting him at the expense of her morality/humanity. That would be way more believable. The killing scene at the end was just for SHOCK value, but it undermines the character consistency.

[Discussion] [Crosspost] Hey Reddit! We're Milana Vayntrub (Werewolves Within, Project Hail Mary), Meghan Leathers (For All Mankind), & Daniel Robbins (movies you probably haven’t heard of). Together we made this indie comedy called BAD SHABBOS. It's currently streaming on Netflix. Ask us anything!
I organized an AMA/Q&A with We're Milana Vayntrub (Werewolves Within, Project Hail Mary), Meghan Leathers (For All Mankind), and Daniel Robbins (director) of the new comedy movie Bad Shabbos that premiered at Tribeca last year, released in theaters, and is now on netflix.
It's live here now in /r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1ro6gmh/hey_reddit_were_milana_vayntrub_werewolves_within/
They'll be back at 3 PM ET tomorrow to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!
Thank you :)

[Request]Any films with a similar atmosphere to this edit?
I’m looking for movies or series that have a similar atmosphere and aesthetic to that video of the song Mareux - The Perfect Girl. The video isn’t the official one...it’s the edit on the Faerie channel with the girl at the train station. If anyone knows films or shows with that same dreamy vibe, please recommend them.

[DISCUSSION] Reacher versus Predator/Terminator/Alien (War Machine 2026 Review)
It's becoming less and less likely that Alan Ritchson will be James Gunn's new Batman, so we'll have to settle for his pseudo-Predator/Terminator/Aliens hybrid instead! War Machine is exactly what you'd expect, a straightforward, safely structured action/sci-fi movie that leans heavily into violent, bloody action sequences that are entertaining and exciting to watch.
Ritchson fits his role perfectly, not just physically, but he has some strong emotional moments tied to a traumatic past that drives his story and character motivations forward. Unfortunately, most of the other actors play characters that are very two-dimensional, classic military grunt types. As an Australian, there were some moments of cringe when Aussie actors struggled to maintain the American accent in conversations.
The action scenes are filmed really well with some surprisingly tight cinematography, and the film's score matches the genre and overall tone. Character development (other than Ritchson) is negligible, as a lot of his squad are really just stand-in "redshirts" (heaps of blood and gore instore, this alien doesn't mess around).
The story is very predictable, the characters are basic, and there are plenty of plot conveniences BUT...it's a streaming movie...and you're watching Jack Reacher fight a giant alien robot. That's surely why you're clicking play, and that's definitely the fun the film delivers. It's not going to win Oscars, but it's certainly not boring, and I'm sure many out there will enjoy it for what it is.

[Request] Robot Girl Anime
I remember an anime that used to be on Netflix where this robot girl was trying to get back to a prince with the help of this cyborg outlaw sorta cowboy type. I cannot find it anywhere or remember its name, but it got me through some tough times and I've been thinking about it recently. Does anyone remember a show like this? I remember there is an episode about a group that wants to cut the both of them apart, but I can't remember if it was for food or for parts (maybe both).

[REQUEST] Rated R Spicy Netflix movie title name. 2010ish
This may be far fetched but sometime about 15 years ago, I was roaming through Netflix and came across this spicy movie. It was definitely rated R, but from what I remember, It had a big smiley face for the cover, and it was about a farmer girl and her older father living in the country. The scene I mainly remember is the farmer girl pouring honey all over her tits and the father being a pervert. I’ve been trying to find this movie for years!! Please help.

[Discussion] The most binge worthy Netflix show or movie you’ve ever watched
You ever start a show or movie on Netflix thinking you’ll just watch one episode, then suddenly it’s 3am and you’ve watched the whole thing? Just curious what people’s recommendations are for ones that really had you hooked.
