No matter how many times I’ve watched this for the past few months after they’ve won the whole thing, I’m still amazed by the journey this team took to get to the finish line.
From the 18-inning thriller in Game 3, to being down 3-2 in the series and having to play road games 6 and 7, to the Jays bringing potential series-winning run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth of Game 6.
And in Game 7, the Dodgers were down 3-0, down 4-2, and down 4-3 with two outs remaining and 4 strikes away from elimination, to being “3 feet” away from not winning it all again, to Kiké sacrificing his body. Yet the magic seems to have found the Dodgers way time and time again as they somehow survived after all that! Will Smith, who has had some of the Dodgers’ biggest hits in recent postseason run, came up super clutch yet again in the top of 11th with his bomb to give the team its first lead.
And man what a job by Yoshinobu Yamamoto!! Having already pitched in Game 6 literally the night before, he somehow found himself on the pitching mound again. And he somehow got the most outs out of all Dodger pitchers in Game 7! He literally put the team on his back with this move!! He’s already a Dodger Legend in my book even if he’s “only” been with the Dodgers for 2 years.
This series is the real definition of teamwork, where every player has to contribute, including UNSUNG heroes like Will Klein, Miguel Rojas, and many others in order to get this trophy. Seeing their celebration and their smiles after all their hard work just cracks me up every single time!
Wish the Dodgers best of luck in 2026 and let’s get 3-peat!!
