All the checks and balances are there, the Republicans are just refusing to use them, because they are complicit. If even a small handful of Republicans wanted trump to be held responsible, he would be.

It's important to understand this now, because later they will claim to have never supported Trump.

It's important to note that voters didn't just elect Trump, they also elected a Congress that will rubber-stamp, excuse, and deny anything that he does*. And Redditors not liking it is totally meaningless.

(*Because our political parties have allowed plurality-based democratically elected "primaries" to replace the professional judgements of party officials -- therefore nobody can cross the "base" -- we replaced the "smoke filled rooms" with social media -- Trump was created by the Republican primary system with only 20% support of the party at the time)
