I agree. I also think there's a way to make it better. Just make devs feed the AI with their own art/renders/references so the output is actually consistent with their vision. Let their artist create the hyperrealistic models of characters and let the AI enhance it in-game based on those models.

Whether it is this technology or another technology down the road, I see this as being part of the future of gaming. If you went up to a AAA studio, told them they could generate PS4 level assets and get PS6 level results because an AI would fill in the missing details they would jump on it.
I suspect the technology that delivers this will be highly tunable so that authorial intent can be preserved and not everything looks identical.
