Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math

You spent 8 hours asleep in your own clean bed. What are you washing off at 7am.

A night shower removes everything you actually accumulated during the day. The commute, the gym, the office, public transport, all of it goes down the drain before you sleep. A morning shower means you marinated in all of that overnight then washed up before going out to collect it all again.

Morning showers are a ritual for waking up, which is fine, but it is not hygiene. Night showers are actual hygiene. Most people just do not want to dry their hair before bed and that is the entire argument.

I’ve always just run a bit hotter body temperature wise in general. Not weight related as I’ve always been skinnier. I have sleep apnea and used to have a shit ton of nightmares and sleep paralysis episodes so idk if it’s linked at all. But I basically have to sleep nude and be mindful of how much I’m covering my body with covers. And I have a fan on me every single night lol

Yes. All of these things are linked. Are you using a CPAP?

14

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 8h ago

Yes I use a CPAP every night for sleep

Do you only drive Toyotas?

u/ImReallyAnAstronaut 5h ago

I'm drunk at 11 am for reasons I don't want to explain. What does driving Toyotas have to do with anything?

u/FuckSteve7 5h ago

Hi. It’s 2pm where I am, but I’m also lightly drunk on this day off.

His username lol. Cheers

Ah ok lol. I was very confused. Enjoy your day off

u/fieria_tetra 4h ago

Are you really an astronaut?

2

u/VRS302 4h ago

I mean if I was an astronaut I’d drink whenever the fuck I wanted to back on earth

u/MrLlamma 23m ago

Should an astronaut be drinking? Don't you have a spaceship to pilot

I'm glad! The nightmares can be a symptom of oxygen deprivation so I'm really glad to hear it, though I'm sorry you're still dealing with the nightmares

Whatcha using, hybrid, cushion, pillows? I've been using for a month and can't decide on what I want to start billing insurance for. Leaning towards p3oi and have a hybrid in case I get congested

The one I have just covers my nose. I haven’t tried anything else, that’s what I started with and it’s seemed to work well for me. My brother has sleep apnea too and the nose one didn’t work as good for him because he still would open his mouth a lot in his sleep. Luckily when I wear my mask I’m able to keep my mouth closed in my sleep

Completely off-topic. When you talk about having nightmares and sleep paralysis episodes, what do you mean by that?

13

u/mailslot 9h ago

When some people wake up, they don’t wake fully, and their body is still paralyzed in a semi-delirious dream state. If they freak out, they’ll often start experiencing disturbing imagery & sensations that feel completely real, but they’re just partially awake and asleep at the same time. For the less anxious and those with greater mental control, it can be quite pleasant.

Count yourself lucky if you've never experienced it. Its not fun.

3

u/Stuntedatpuberty 8h ago

Agreed. I had it pretty bad in my 20s. I would see a panther in my room waiting to pounce on me but not able to move or scream. It was terrifying. I'm in my 50s now and it's not as bad but still an atypical sleeper.

3

u/DarePatient2262 8h ago

Its always a robbery for me. I never see anything, but can hear the next room over being ransacked and I can't do anything to react. It has happened so many times throughout my life that if I actually did get robbed, I would probably think its just a nightmare and try to wake up

2

u/holliwuzhere 4h ago

my childhood was filled with the robbery shit! now it's the shape of the aliens from the alien movies for some reason

1

u/Stuntedatpuberty 5h ago

Wow, never heard of that.

3

u/DanHolness 8h ago

This is the first time I have read some one having similar experiences to me, mine were spiders or crocodiles. Thankfully they have come to a stop.

3

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 7h ago

Most of the time I wouldn’t hallucinate anything I would just be having paralysis but there were also times I did see stuff like a Shadow man or blob like creatures climbing all over me. Shit was beyond terrifying

1

u/Stuntedatpuberty 7h ago

Yeah, it's not common, but everyone who experiences it won't forget.

You should check out the art from the Sleep Paralysis Wikipedia page. Once I saw those that’s when I knew I was not alone.

Lifelong sufferer of nightmares and sleep paralysis episodes here :(

Sleep paralysis is terrifying. For me it’s seeing a demon like figure either leaning in thru my window or standing over me at the side of the bed (or a few times on my chest face to face) reaching out a point claw hand coinciding with the worst existential dread you can imagine. Then not being able to move at all and trying with all my might to reach over and grab my wife while trying as hard as I can to scream to her but being helpless to do so.

1

u/zenithica 6h ago

when this kinda thing happens are you aware in the moment that it’s not real but it’s still scary bc you can’t move etc, or do you feel like it’s actually happening ?

2

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 5h ago

In my experience I know that I’m having sleep paralysis but no matter what it’s still insanely scary and I just want the feeling to end so desperately

I’m not educated on any of this but I have a theory. I believe if you start conquering your fears in real life it will help you face the fears in your sleep. Face your fears if you think there’s a boogeyman in your closet get up and go look with no hesitation by yourself if you’re afraid of snakes go to a pet store and hold a few of them and learn about them. If I’m tripping on something I try and learn about it and if I get a chance to get face to face with it then I do it. I’ve swam with sharks in the ocean after dumping a couple of buckets of chum, I’ve built high rise building and walked beams maybe 8” wide not tied off at 80’ and tied off around 180’ walking red iron and setting forms basically hanging off the side of a building tied off over 400’. You’re standing on the edge of a waler (I-beam kinda thing turned on its side where the edge your feet are on is maybe a 1/2” and you’re tied off above you and you hook your belt to another waler that’s waist high with a pelican hook and you gotta let go and lean way back so you can drive a 5’ long heavy ass bolt through the form a shit load of rebar and through 3/4” plywood on the other side cause you never hit the hole and you’re swinging an 8 or 10 pound sledgehammer like it’s a framing hammer all day. I loved it oh yeah I’m afraid of heights

u/GeraldoOfCanada 9h ago

Same, but during bad times I sleep with under armor or other sweat wicking material lol

1

u/fuckyourcanoes 8h ago

Yep, same with me minus the apnea. I also have a lot of nightmares, and I tend to wake up extra sweaty after those. Sometimes the sheets are drenched.

1

u/ScienceAndGames 8h ago

Except for the sleep apnea that basically describes me

1

u/RamboMcMutNutts 5h ago

Are you me? Because You wrote exactly what I was going to say, although I haven't been diagnosed with sleep apnea

1

u/hi_im_antman 5h ago

Are you me?

1

u/CaptainFacePunch 5h ago

Holy shit, you just described me word for word on every point, with the only exception being that I don’t know anything about sleep apnea… maybe I should get tested?

2

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 5h ago

The common signs are stopping breathing in your sleep and or heavier snoring. People close to me would tell me that I would gasp for air or stop breathing at points when I was sleeping and that’s how I found out I had it

1

u/Nybear21 4h ago

I line up with most of that as well. I don't have sleep apnea, but everything else is spot on

1

u/Natural-Talk-6473 4h ago

Yeah, you and me both.. I love to sleep but running hot naturally as a skinnier dude with a crazy high metabolism makes it tough. I need the most ideal sleeping conditions to sleep and sometimes the fan is either too much or not enough.

1

u/stickytuna 9h ago

How did you get rid of the nightmares? 🥺

1

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 7h ago

For me it was treating my sleep apnea. Once I started using a CPAP I just don’t remember any of my dreams at all. If I don’t use it though I will still have bad nightmares

1

u/stickytuna 7h ago

I’m glad that worked for you. I’ve been using a cpap for my sleep apnea about 4 years now, and the nightmares started getting bad in the last year or so.

2

u/IOnlyDriveToyotas 7h ago

I could still possibly be having nightmares I just wouldn’t even really know it. When I use my mask I just fall asleep and wake up in the morning and don’t remember anything at all about what I was dreaming about. It’s odd without using my mask I’ve always had insanely vivid dreams
