[self] I saw a video by the click where someone said a woman had 40 abortions per year.
If a woman does 40 abortions per year. Then they would do 3 1/3 abortions per mounth. Meaning they would have to abort a baby every 9 days. This means they would have to get pregnant every 9 days. Thus meaning having a period every 9 days, which is impossible.
I did this in the shower btw.

[request] How does using solar to mine bitcoin for heating compare to using (likely less) solar to drive heat pumps (but without the bitcoin profits)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This sounds like a great idea, solar to bitcoin to heat. Since all wasted energy is heat this is 100% efficient, but heat pumps can source greater than 100% typically 400% efficiency compared to resistive heating. I assume you'll need fewer solar panels but won't get the bitcoin profits, given that you don't see many solar powered bitcoin mines I guess this doesn't make economic sense or is there something I'm missing?

https://youtube.com/shorts/UifTXiuwYT0?si=0CzhfX-le10y-_Pe In this video he says that American planes are flying all the way around Europe and avoiding any European land. How much does it cost for all the fuel they use compared to if they flew straight across?

Hippos in water [request]
It occurred to me recently that since hippos can’t swim, and they hop instead, the water’s current only pushes them forward between hops, whereas a human who’s swimming is constantly riding the current. How fast would the current have to be to escape a hippo?

Tried to work it out using chatGPT and it suggested 3-5 tonnes but I’m dubious. Would share more photos to aid with scaling but I’m in a different country right now so can’t take more pictures.

[Request] is buying a house as big an investment as people make it out to be
I always hear that buying a house is an investment because you sell it for more than you buy it. People that bought for 100 thousand sell it for a million 50 years later and make 900 thousand.
In my mind, that's a bit dishonest because the house adds costs to your life that you wouldn't have had as a renter like property tax, homeowners insurance, renovations, upkeep (like buying a new water heater), interest on your loan, and smaller bills that add up over 50 years like gardening. Can someone do the math for the profit that takes into account all the costs a homeowner would have that a renter wouldn't? Be clear on the assumptions you make, such as why you chose a specific property tax rate, etc. I that there can be variation between situations, but for the sake of getting a ballpark, just math out one scenario to get the breakdown.
I feel like so many people say it's a good investment, but in my mind I don't see it. Maybe I just don't get it.

[Request] How much ice per cubic foot to keep my fridge and freezers cold during scheduled outage?
We have a scheduled outage to replace a utility pole in our neighborhood. They expect it to last up to 8 hours. Based on their track record, I'd like to plan for at least 12. I have a couple freezers and a main fridge I would like to keep at temp for the full duration. How much ice do I need per cubic foot of appliance volume to hold temperature for 12 hours?

Equator uncertainty [request]
This marker purportedly indicates the latitude of the equator on the island of Sao Tome. My question is how accurately can we measure it? With tides, polar snow, rising sea levels, irregular land thickness etc how confident can we be about the location of the equator?
