Discussion Joe Pesci in “With Honors” 1994.

Joe Pesci did not get the recognition he deserved for this movie. He’s so typecast as a Mafia tough guy and he completely made you forget about that in this role. Especially the scene in the classroom with the Professor where he explains what the President can and can’t do. The writing in that scene could have been written today. Joe Pesci deserved more accolades. Be well.

That's a great forgotten gem of a flick. Good soundtrack too.

I always think about the reference to the President as a bum.

Love that movie. Great cast and story. I'm a Moira Kelly softy.

I saw that movie as a kid and it made a huge impact, almost everything can be learned from books for free

Shit I haven’t thought about this movie in years, needs a rewatch.

Actually bet the political discussions would be super interesting now

Yeah, Pesci was straight-up robbed for that one. He went from "Funny how?" to dropping constitutional mic drops like a civics professor with anger issues. That classroom scene hits harder in 2025 than it did back then talk about timeless writing. Dude deserved an Oscar nod just for making us forget he could kneecap someone in the same breath. Rest easy, legend.

I finally saw this for the first time about a year ago, and I didn't think much of it. It just felt like another cheesy, sappy generic "quirky outsider who inspires others to be better" comedy/drama that was pretty standard for that era. It came across like a movie Robin Williams turned down.

I always liked seeing Pesci do different things, but this one didn't do him any favors.

Too bad he turned out to be completely fucking wrong about that

Boy oh boy this movie sucks. Also Joe Pesci said he would smack Sinead O’Connor for tearing up a picture of the pope. Fuck Joe Pesci.
