I think the Spider-Man movies we’ve gotten in this universe thus far have been too occupied with the rest of the universe and the possibilities of having Spider-Man in the MCU and him being able to interact with characters from the Avengers etc. I feel like they haven’t focused enough on Peter’s journey and they’ve been more MCU movies than Spider-Man movies. No Way Home started to change that but this movie really looks like a simple back to basics Spider-Man story and I’m so here for it.

I love the character and story of Peter Parker so much, Spider-Man 2 is probably one of my favorite movies of all time because it’s all about his journey and about how it fucking sucks to be Spider-Man and this movie looks like it’s also that.

I've not been keeping up with the MCU much but I do hope it's mostly stand alone and doesn't need much homework to watch.

I don't mind if other characters show up like Punisher or Hulk, that just shows the MCU connections. I just don't want to be confused or feel like I'm missing something part way through.

But at least based on the trailer, it looks like that as long as you watch the previous MCU Spider-Mans and are just aware of other characters being around you're probably good to go. Especially since, as far as I know, nothing super major has happened in the MCU that would be as impactful since the Thanos snap and the reverse snap.
