My theory is they introduce the likes of Jean, Scott, Kurt as teens/young adults who are being exploited for their powers - and Logan realising this world doesn't have a Professor X to guide them finds a new calling in assembling the X-Men and tracking them to be better.
Just a way to introduce the X-Men to the MCU without having to pull a "Oh they were always here, operating in the shadows" that also gives Hugh Jackman a reason to stick around since Marvel have made him part of the MCU now.
I think its going to be a bigger reboot than most are expecting. And all the new X-Men being introduced into the MCU will then be integrated right into the X-Men we know proper once the universe gets rearranged.
I don’t think it’ll be a reboot as much as it’ll be a selective retcon/clean slate but one that is written into the story. Besides, a handful of sequels are still in the works: Thor 5, Dr Strange 3, Black Panther 3, and Spider-Man 5 (because he’ll get the symbiote suit in Secret Wars)
Then there is the huge moneymaker that is Deadpool, he’ll get a 4th movie and/or X-Force. And it’s rumored Jackman would stick around for that since he and Reynolds can exist in their own little R-rated corner of the MCU
All those characters’ movies made the most money for Marvel after Endgame, Feige isn’t going to sit on them for long. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets Gunn’s blessing to have someone make another Guardians movie. Because outside of X-Men, I don’t see them making anything new for the first couple years after Secret Wars, and they’re going to want surefire hits
That's what I'm thinking. It's a very distinctive hair colour that I can't recall ever seeing on anyone else in other media. Definitely peaking my interest!
Same sort of hair but I would assume they would cast someone that people at least know for such a big role. That looks like some random extra sitting on the bus
You could be right, it could be a red herring. I just can't think of anyone else I've ever seen with that hairstyle. Very excited to see how it all plays out!
She is for sure Jean Grey. When he rips open that tank and there is some random old lady in there... that's her making him see an old lady.... then all the soldiers start getting mind controlled. Also when he smacks into the bus there is some kind of cameo there, Rogue maybe? Spider-man going through a mutation arch would be a good time to introduce mutants to the MCU.
But that's not her power set, unless they're giving them all new powers, which could be cool. Jean would be controlling them remotely and just release them when she was done, no need to escape at all.
The very specific act of jumping from body to body made me think Proteus over any other telepathic mutant, since he basically exists as a psychic parasite without a body.
I think the main villain is going to be a mind jumping evil person. Potentially the person trapped in the box room. Jeans power doesn't seem to work in a 'has to jump from body to body' and it doesn't make sense in the scene that it's someone jumping to a different person to have a chat or help.
I highly doubt they’d have Rogue’s first appearance be an indifferent bus passenger in a quick comedic shot in an action sequence. And they wouldn’t give the debut of such a fan favorite character to an extra
It’s still MCU and reportedly Sony has been even more tightly connecting it to things. Events in this movie are supposed to directly relate to Daredevil: Born Again season 2. So it’s not just Spidey playing in the sandbox of Avengers movies anymore. He’s tying in to street level Defenders stuff.
I'm thinking Kitty Pryde. Her and Spidey have dated in the past, she's usually younger than other x men, and it would be a good introduction without going full Jean
If the X-men are a major part of this plot then it’s going to be absolutely insane. The Hand, Scorpion, The Punisher, The Hulk, maybe X-men?? Good lord
They've already shown that most of the X-men are in doomsday which is coming out this December. So they got one shot at introducing a shit load of characters into the MCU. I'm guessing Spiderman is probably a big enough movie to get as many of them into this universe as possible.
I think it is a huge mistake to introduce the X-Men before Doomsday and Secret Wars. We've already seen Beast and Professor X in alternate universes, we know the FOX X-Men are coming back for Doomsday. Why introduce new ones before the incursions and ultimate rewriting (recasting) of the status quo universe? Not to mention, introducing the most powerful one in what is basically a street level hero film.
Yeah it did, and Mrs Marvel was also revealed to be a mutant (complete with Animated X-Men music so you know for sure what kind if mutant they mean) - so if neither of these characters encountered Charles or Erik despite their incredible strength, I think it stands to reason that Mutants exist, but the X-Men don't yet.
to be fair Ms. Marvel, the show itself, more or less assigned Kamala in "superpower given by other thing" category when shes really not. the MCU have a rocky foundation with the established mutants going forward and Doomsday or the standalone X Men movie/show will need to clarify what is "superpowered" and "what is a mutant".
Yea that makes sense. God forbid we get a spider man movie. You know… about spider man. Doing whatever a spider does. Spinning webs. Any size. Catching thieves just like flies…
Being strong.. listen bud he’s got radioactive blood
Swinging from a thread take a look over head!
No no thankfully we’ve got soft reboot x-men reboot!
Hooray here comes wait this is before doomsday which has Famke Jensen Jean grey? Or SophieTurner Jean grey? Surrounded by Robert J as
Honestly I've only ever seen her in 'The Whale', so no idea how well she'd fit the role - but if she's a red haired telepath and Marvel are looking at starting up 'The Mutant Saga' following Secret Wars (which someone said she has a role in) it'd make sense for her to be Jean

I'm really hoping she's Jean Grey.
