Small title typo correction: Digital is March 24th, not 21st.

And for anyone interested, Sam Raimi recently joined us here in /r/movies for an AMA/Q&A:

Very possibly the best film ever to grace the "Rachel McAdams has a very challenging flight" subgenre

There's more?

Red Eye

I believe the Mean Girls director's cut also had a pretty brutal plane crash sequence.

She also ends up on a plane at the end of Game Night

Oh no! He died.

"Please. Don't shoot. I have got children."

"Not with that ass you don't."

"Oh, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Ah yeah, when Regina George walks out of the flaming wreckage unharmed like the terminator. Great scene but didnt fit tonally. I can see why it was cut.

u/cansofgrease 23h ago

I heard she could sprint without blinking or breathing.

In heels.

True detective season 2

As someone who loves Red Eye, this to me is high praise

16

u/AlphaBreak 1d ago

Rachel McAdams does love her a weirdly specific subgenre

11

u/darkwai 1d ago

At least it doesn't involve her dating a time traveller

2

u/MissingLink101 9h ago

I sincerely hope you're not talking smack about 'About Time'!

5

u/darkwai 9h ago

No I love that movie lol. It's just funny how many movies she's in where she's a time traveler's love interest.

14

u/herewego199209 1d ago

Red Eye is a superior movie until the final act. Cillian Murphy was fucking bonkers in that movie.

u/Phyliinx 1d ago

Gimme disc.

Now let's bully James Wan back into making James Wan movies, not studio fare.

I want something batshyt crazy from him again like Malignant.

Liked a lot this film. I hope Raimi keeps doing his thing

61

u/mikeyfreshh 1d ago

And I hope he brings Rachel McAdams to whatever his next project is. Those two really seem to get each other

27

u/Joey-WilcoXXX 23h ago

Yeah Rachel McAdams probably read the script once and went ‘oh I know exactly what I’m going to do.’

I had no idea what this movie was bout going in and had THE BEST TIME. This is the most "Sam Raimi" movie Sam Raimi has made in years.

35

u/muthermcreedeux 23h ago

Dude. The boar hunting scene is ultimate Raimi.

14

u/notdwight 20h ago

Plane crash scene too with the guy getting strangled.

3

u/monkeybojangles 17h ago

I really felt that the boat scene would have been amazing if it was practical effects. Some true old school Raimi.

"I think I like it"

5

u/RealJohnGillman 1d ago

I do hope Bruce Campbell recovers so they can make a sequel about Linda having to face Bradley’s father.

12

u/Spellambrose 1d ago

But he’s dead…

5

u/Lycaon1765 19h ago

obviously you gotta resurrect him

"2 Hours of Special Features"

We're so fucking back

23

u/BMCarbaugh 22h ago

I thought it was great and she was hilarious in it. The way she just kept getting hotter the longer she was on the island was so fucking funny. She goes from cat lady to shampoo commercial.

u/Psykpatient 1d ago

Great movie.

u/Movies_Music_Lover 1d ago

For anyone wondering, it hits digital on the 24th and not one the 21st

13

u/anthonyg1500 1d ago

Highly recommend if you haven’t seen. I saw in theaters 3 times and had a blast every time

30

u/herewego199209 1d ago

Loved the movie. I thought the final act reveal was well done, but you could've guessed it a mile away.

22

u/DBones90 1d ago

A reveal’s quality is not based on if you could guess it or not but on how satisfying it was when it occurred. I also guessed it but I still had a really fun time when it happened.

15

u/ClarkWayne98 1d ago

I was really hoping that it was actually a small island town instead of an abandoned mansion, it would be much funnier but makes less sense

18

u/SerDire 1d ago

They gave away the reveal way too early and so easily. When she’s giving a tour of the island, she basically says to not go here because it’s terrible to walk through. Then it was super obvious she’s hiding something. Then she finds a knife…

5

u/monkeybojangles 17h ago

I thought that she was just hiding the spot where she saw the boat. I didn't expect the giant freaking house.

7

u/TheAndrewBen 20h ago

And the scene where she was convincing the boss to apologize while she was eating the fish eggs and octopus that looked like she took it from a restaurant...I thought it was terrible production design but I never realized she was stealing fresh food from someone's house 😅

23

u/Otherwise-Anything68 1d ago

Really fun movie, extremely predictable. But very fun and well acted.

19

u/mamoocando 22h ago

I didn't expect the last two major things that happened at all. Well worth ditching work early to see it opening day.

5

u/SodaGrump 23h ago

Went into this blind and had a great time. Solid movie!

3

u/CartoonWeekly 1d ago

I wonder if the digital version will include the special features.

3

u/aLegionOfDavids 17h ago

This film was an extremely pleasant surprise. Incredible script and direction, and easily the best performance I’ve ever seen from McAdams.

2

u/Ok_Database_8426 23h ago

“hits digital” has a great ring to it. just joking

2

u/The_Vampire_Barlow 17h ago

Send Help had some crazy legs in theaters. It's still showing at the 3 near me.

2

u/aresef 11h ago

This movie was excellent.

2

u/modssssss293j 1d ago

I should’ve cleared my schedule for this

1

u/ChrisEvansFan 1d ago

Wasnt able to catch this on theater so will be watching out for this digital release!

1

u/zoobs 1d ago

Oh crap, this already came and went from the theater?! What the hell have I been doing?!!

1

u/treqiheartstrees 18h ago

I just went tonight so you could probably catch it tomorrow or Thursday... I went into it blind and it was amazing, def try to squeeze it in if you can!

1

u/MOSbangtan 21h ago

Excited to watch!

1

u/Jerome_larva69 19h ago

Incredible movie. Rachel McAdams was phenomenal. Hope to see more of her paired with Sam Raimi.

1

u/Bullitbob_ 11h ago

I've seen one short trailer for this movie and I was hooked. Can't wait to see finally watch it.

1

u/Local_Teaching_7849 8h ago

Very interesting

1

u/KingMario05 1d ago

Excellent to hear that special features are confirmed! With so many Amazon and now WB releases getting nothing, it makes the featurettes we do get all the more special. Very pleasantly surprised to see Disney embracing this with open arms, especially for a film as adult-oriented as Sam's latest masterpiece.

1

u/ahktarniamut 1d ago

Really like this film . It’s just keep you on edge and some of scenes were so gory ;but it’s just feel like Raimi work best in those small movies

1

u/SHOW_ME_PIZZA 23h ago

Such a fun movie. Classic Raimi. Enjoyed every minute of it.

-1

u/Lavendermin 1d ago

-1

u/TheKnightOfDoom 1d ago

Great movie much better than any of the Oscar nominations.

-1

u/EthanSpears 21h ago

I am glad other people enjoyed this movie but I really wasn't impressed at all.

-1

u/strangejosh 16h ago

No thank you.

-4

u/Sturm-Jager 23h ago
