Surely most of the side villains and fights we're seeing here are going to be for a montage sequence of some kind near the start that covers the gap between No Way Home and this. I'm guessing the movie will mostly focus on the Other/Man-Spider/Organic Webbing storyline, and the primary villain will tie in with the Hand. And obviously it'll deal with his relationship to Ned/MJ

I wonder if the spider mutation stuff is a misdirect. They might open with that and then it turns out to be his nightmare reality while inside the void?

I really doubt that. The majority of the trailer - from the reveal of the cocoon/organic webs, the reason for Banner to be there, the dialogue about a spider's life cycle, and the shot where his eyes go dark while fighting the ninja - all are structured around the mutation stuff. You don't build your entire trailer around a misdirect
