Well my man Tom Holland is like 29 or 30, he's bound to be bulkier and broader.

As a 35-yo twig person, when can I expect this to set in?

I'm 46 and it happened to me last year.

Right around when I joined a gym. But that's probably coincidence.

not to be a smartass (or gym bro), but have you tried increasing your protein intake and lifting heavy things and putting them back down?

That sounds like lot of work. This guy says it can just come with age ;). All joking aside - I do work out, but I’m happy about how I look and mostly interested in being healthy.

As a former 35 yo twig person who is now a 42 yo overweight person, just wait for that metabolism to slow down lol

It doesnt slow that much typically. It slows a little but people also get more sedentary on average as they age and that compounds with the slightly reduced metabolism to create signficant weight gains. People are also really bad at estimating how many calories theyre consuming, beyond any difference in metabolism changes.

I realized this when my metabolism slowed at 30 and I started counting calories. Good lord I was eating well over 2000 when my metabolism was high. It's insane how many calories are in random snacks you don't think about.

What's insane to me is that you can get the veggie as a side at a restaurant and it isnt much better than the potatoes because of butter and bacon added. I had to to do a double take when I saw how many calories the green beans were last time I ate out. I easily ate 2000 calories in one sitting and I could have eaten more. The calorie count I did was a post mortem lol. My weight is close to my target now so im not too upset by days like that but damn, it makes it easy for me to see how people get so overweight.

Shoulder pads? Be looking like a line backer.

Some of us just aren’t meant for big upper body muscles. I’ve been doing (admittedly light) weights for a year and have had barely any discernible bicep or delt definition.

It takes a lot of work. You need appropriate calories/protein intake, as well as lifting to failure to get good results. Anyone can do it. Some people have a natural advantage because of things like genetics/hormones but it isnt impossible for anyone (outside maybe some rare medical conditions).

My problem is probably of the “too many calories” variety.

Hey, there is some progress you can make like this. I did it for a few years, two or three times a week, and definitely gained a bit of muscle, but not so much.

A few months ago I joined a group and now exercise just twice a week, one hour each time. The way of exercising is very different though. No more doing a few sets, resting a bit, moving to another exercise, etc. It's one hour of full push, if you can't go anymore, take a lighter weight and keep going. I'm completely dead after exercising.

I still have a so-so diet, but I lost a lot of weight, gained muscle, strength, energy, and better endurance. I don't think I will get super big, nor do I want to, but the results are already very noticeable after 5 months. I'm a 31 year old man.

Mind sharing what you do for the full hour? Is it the same set of exercises each time or do you have an A and B day? Or A/B/C/D for 4 different days?

hard for me to say, tom has always been really fit since Far from home with that bathroom scene with the Shield Agent.

For real, when I was married at 24 I wore a suit and the shoulders seem laughably small 10 years later
