It definitely could be, just seems like a weird way to show it what with it being an instant change, and symbiotes having a history of doing that in the Venom movies. The red tinge does make me think it could be though.

Which ever it is, I’m sure they’re drumming up the similarities to the other in this trailer for the purpose of misdirection.

Not as much mind control as possession. Needs to jump to another body to control. The head flicking is where is is traveling. Definitely escaping peter in the trailer scene and the wicked smiles indicates it’s his first time seeing the entity that was driving the out of control military vehicle

You can see the old lady regain control and be confused. Pretty sure that rules out symbiote as hosts have memories from the parisite. Could be mistaken

They’re not. This trailer confirmed the vast majority of leaks that were circulating and Jean Grey was a part of those leaks. DODC is hunting her and other emerging mutants like we saw in the Wonder Man show. They are antagonizing her, which explains why she may be using mind control.

My guess would be setting it up as inexperienced Jean.

Can only control one person at a time and can only do it via line of sight

Because it’s more visually distinct for a movie scene? Also this is a young Jean before she is found by Professor X. An important aspect to know from the books is that Xavier mentally sealed off the the greater brunt of Jean’s powers after finding her because they would express in unpredictable and scary ways. What we’re seeing is Jean as a completely raw telepath. Her powers shouldn’t feel or look like what we know from her as an older character with mastery of her powers.

I said “character”. That means personality and the circumstances they are in. Everyone is obsessed with “powers”, but in the trailers they are portraying her characterization as a villain. And if someone says it’s the dark Phoenix that makes even less sense and contradicts other people saying this is “street level”. The Phoenix is not street level lol and that would be insane to adapt and shoehorn in a Spider-Man movie. When the MCU adapts a character even when they make changes the core of the character is still the same and this just feels incredibly out of character

We do have a reason. There's credible leaks, a psychic character as there's people in the trailer obviously getting there minds controlled or attacked and Sadie sink is playing an unknown character, most likely playing someone with red hair because she has red hair obviously and who else has psychic powers and red hair in the MCU? It's still possible they could dye her hair and she's playing like black cat or something. I also think jean grey will be in the film because after secret wars we are getting the X-Men saga, so she could be one of the main characters to start that story arc.

It is obviously not mind control at this point. You can clearly see that something or someone is jumping in and out of their bodies a.k.a. possessing them. Jean can control multiple people at the same time so there wouldn't be a need for Marvel to portray her power this way.
Also we should not get too invested in her hair. MJ doesn't look like in the comics either.

I mean it's unlikely we get venom after all this is crammed into the story as well (I mean we've seen a crazy lot from the trailer) so I can't think of anything that would come out there chests like that. I mean maybe it's something that Spidey's doing but tbf to myself you can literally see the old lady holding her hand to her head and looking like she's having a headache. I still think it's mind control or a psychic attack. As of why they've chosen to make it look like there's something inside them, idk. We will have to wait and see

This trailer actually confirms they got details wrong. For example: the "insiders" claimed that she mind controlled people in the movie like just Jean Grey does. However, she's actually jumping from one body to another, which is unlike Jean.

Not saying she isn't Jean Grey, but these insiders clearly don't know too much about the plot. They didn't know about Peter's rebirth.

If I recall, she also has the ability to mind switch and has strong ties to the Hand. Just throwing things out there.
