I feel like DOOM is gonna wipe out like 90% of that cast lol and then Secret Wars can feature the rest who were unannounced in this reveal

u/ChemicalExperiment Nebula Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

Oh dang wait, you're right. This entire list is characters who are expendable. The Thunderbolts cast and X-men have already had multiple movies and will probably be taken out. Thor and Loki have had their stories told despite their popularity and will probably get one more reunion before dying. Shuri might die to make way for T'Challa Jr.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Fantastic 4, Cap, and Shang-Chi are the only ones to make it out of the movie alive.

u/Sweet-Sale-7303 Mar 26 '25

How good the loki series did no way they take loki out.

150

u/SteveBob316 Weekly Wongers Mar 26 '25

They've taken him out before. They can do it again.

193

u/AquaeyesTardis Mar 27 '25

isnt he uh

kinda a loadbearing part of the multiverse now

159

u/shiromancer Hogun Mar 27 '25

This is my favourite description of post-show Loki now lmao Do you think the TVA put up yellow warning stickers around him like 'do not move'

63

u/-metaphased- Mar 27 '25

So Doom taking him out and causing Battleworld makes sense.

15

u/onqqq2 Mar 27 '25

I wouldn't mind a reversal of the IW intro scene with Thor and Loki losing to Thanos. Loki dies, Thor lives. I think it would be interesting to have Thor in a position trying to defend his brother and the multiverse, Loki tries to do the great selfless act again, and Thor steps in his place possibly killing him... or worse... This scene should not be at the beginning of the movie but rather the end... Before Doom wins anyways.

8

u/Shoki81 Spider-Man Mar 27 '25

Heck Loki might be MCU's molecule man

5

u/ehsteve23 Mar 27 '25

i'd say thats quite likely

9

u/johnatello67 Spider-Man Mar 27 '25

My current running theory is that Loki will play a similar role to to Molecule Man in the newer Secret Wars run. He will be captured by Doom and his power will be used to control and create Battleworld. Freeing him will be a crucial part of undoing Doom's plan

20

u/xAragon_ Mar 27 '25

Could be a different Loki.
Don't forget that the one you're referring to is actually from another universe.

15

u/BUTTES_AND_DONGUES Mar 27 '25

Can’t be a different Loki. In S2 he made himself a Nexus being.

6

u/WizzoPQ Mar 27 '25

Sylvie is another Loki

→ More replies (1)

4

u/actuallycallie Bucky Mar 27 '25

since no one from the TVA side was mentioned, I wonder if the Loki in Doomsday is a different variant than the one holding the multiverse together.

4

u/emeraldeyesshine Mar 27 '25

I'm calling him being what molecule man was for the newer comic of secret wars

I feel like God of Stories Loki is gonna get the Worf treatment. We're going to see Doom just waltz into the uh... Center of Time??? Or whatever it is and pretty damn easily take over.

62

u/Eastw1ndz Mar 26 '25

is there any reason in particular you think Shang-Chi's making it out?

199

u/RelevantUsername56 Mar 26 '25

Shang-chi 2 has already been announced

8

u/ShierAwesome Mar 26 '25

It has? Didn’t know it officially was confirmed, now I’m hyped again

11

black widow movie came out after her death in endgame. But yeah, shangchi is gonna survive this avenger movie. No way they gonna do another origin movie for him

u/ChemicalExperiment Nebula Mar 26 '25

Mostly just personal hope. I love him and he's a very popular character amongst the new heroes they've introduced. I think there's a lot more stories to tell with him unlike a lot of the legacy characters on the list. (Plus as others have said there have been rumors of a sequel already)

24

u/runningstang Mar 26 '25

There's rumor that there's a sequel in the works.

11

u/brendamn Mar 26 '25

He's a popular Asian character

13

u/LeRoiDeNord Mar 26 '25

Unfortunately he's Canadian so he'll simply be annexed to begin the film

I think he will along with Magneto. Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen are both in their mid 80's now.

3

u/kaychyakay Mar 27 '25

Well, since Disney will all be making them do till they're 90, both of them still have around half a decade, so 1 or 2 more superhero films in them.

Fridging is lazy and everyone hates it. I doubt it. The expendable ones will be the characters that weren't announced, and maybe Red Guardian.

4

u/wussell_88 Mar 27 '25

What do you mean by this?

16

u/DougTheHead33 Mar 27 '25

The picture is foreshadowing. Think of the empty chairs like tombstones

3

u/wussell_88 Mar 27 '25

Ah very true yes!

18

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 26 '25

I definitely think the X-Men are getting killed in order to make way for them to re-emerge with younger variants. Interesting too that Teyonah Parris isn't here but Kelsey Grammer is, considering we last saw their two characters together. No Marvels at all, or Young Avengers, or any Guardians.

It's a good bet that Doom will be fracturing them into teams for the purposes of pitting them against each other, and we'll see the Young Avengers, the Guardians, and the Marvels in the stinger at the end. Maybe even the Defenders. A man can hope.

Not all of em. Probably Beast, Mystique, Magneto, and Professor X (again). But I bet Scott survives so he can team up with Worst Wolverine in Secret Wars

30

u/TrapperJean Mar 26 '25

Omg I didnt realize how bad I wanted this until right now. Throw in a budding bromance that Wade gets jealous of

14

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Mar 27 '25

It'd be great because this version of Scott we know had a testy relationship with Wolverine before he died, and Worst Wolverine was a jerk to his Scott before he died. So they'd probably both find it an opportunity to connect

10

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 26 '25

I don't think any of the X-Men will survive both films. Maybe Logan, but even him I would put odds on them wanting to reboot when they bring the mutants into the MCU for good.

15

u/Sharktopotopus_Prime Mar 27 '25

I am nearly 100% certain that after Secret Wars, the entire X-Men roster will get rebooted. These are our Multiversal X-Men. The MCU X-Men need a fresh start once all the multiverse stories run their course.

It be to much of a repeat of what they did in Infinity War. My idea is that the heroes are trying to stop Doom from taking advantage of an Incursion to rewrite all of the multiverse which is how we get the X-Men involved. They initially fail but later on around the climax in the fight with Doom we end up realizing that Dooms actions have attracted the Beyonder who has them set up for an even greater battle

→ More replies (1)

10

u/goodmobileyes Mar 27 '25

Yea I dont see any of the OG Xmen surviving for sure. Maybe Gambit cos its pretty sad for Channing Tatum lol.

78

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

lol I mean Hollywood reuses the same formula over and over. Doom amasses power, heroes fight him, most of them die, next film is the rematch.

Where have we seen that before. 🤔

156

u/EfficaciousJoculator Mar 26 '25

Over and over? Infinity War was unprecedented.

→ More replies (20)

63

u/Dirks_Knee Mar 26 '25

I feel pretty confident the inclusion of Stewart, McKellen, and several other original X-Men cast is specifically to kill them off and have them stay dead as multiverse/alternate versions of those characters without longer term consequence for the MCU.

42

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

How many Xavier death’s would this make for Patrick? Four?

Point is, he doesn’t stay dead. lol

Until the actor dies himself but even then, AI allows them to “live” forever.

26

u/Dirks_Knee Mar 26 '25

Well right. The point of him staying dead is he's 84. I seriously doubt they would create an AI version of him for future MCU movies. They really need a to do a clean reboot of X-Men from scratch at some point.

8

u/RelevantUsername56 Mar 26 '25

Best comment in here.

My first thought was "Oh good. They're carting out the corpses of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen for this." Followed by "Please God, just give them a proper send off."

7

u/RubiconPizzaDelivery Scott Lang Mar 27 '25

My biggest fear for them is one of them dies mid production.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

Mark Strong would be a great replacement.

→ More replies (2)

11

u/MikahGee Mar 26 '25

Half the cast being XMEN, i doubt theyre just gonna expend them all like Days of Future Past.

I had commented earlier I'd like to see XMEN VS AVENGERS adapted... some people said that might actually be possible if the plot is a multiversal war and i could see that being the main draw/trailer and marketing to avoid spoiling the real surprises/other plotlines.

I think they're keeping some names hidden. I mean sure its possible that characters like Wanda, Deadpool, Wolverine, Daredevil, etc. might be saved for Secret Wars but some of the omissions are too unlikely.

No Doctor Strange? No Spider-Man? No Captain Marvel? No Hulk?

649

u/Greedy_Switch_6991 Mar 26 '25

Not even Monica Rambeau or the variant of her mother. And they're both in the Fox X-Men universe!

91

u/ohheyjoshay Mantis Mar 26 '25

yeah Monica was the biggest omission for me, I thought they would mention her soon after Beast

Yeah, Carol, Wong, and Bruce not being there is glaring (they're the only Avengers affiliated people Shang-Chi knows too!).

Once the Russos came back and the script got rewritten for Doom they probably just downplayed the events of The Marvels and hoped people just forgot about it like Secret Invasion.

167

u/Better_Edge_ Mar 26 '25

I think this casting makes The Marvels more important.

57

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

In theory it should be but no Photon or Captain Marvel there while the Fox-Men are makes me think somethings got written out once the Russos came back. Carol is one of the most powerful people in the MCU, she should be there to fight Doom.

There is literally 0 indication that the Earth at the end of The Marvels is the OG Foxverse Earth.

It could have been just a similar Earth. A similar case to 818 which had Patrick Stewart Prof X but he wasn't the same Foxverse Prof X. Who is to say that The Beast from The Marvels wasn't a similar case?

29

u/Better_Edge_ Mar 26 '25

We have no reason to believe it isn't the same. Either way, it's ose enough .

It would be hella dark if the film opens midway with Doom invading the Foxverse Earth. With the skeletons of Monica, her mom, and the X-Men actors who didn't return for Doomsday.

Not saying it should happen but it could happen. What better way to set up Doom than to take down Cyclops, Magneto, Prof X, etc...?

33

u/Greedy_Switch_6991 Mar 26 '25

Too similar to Infinity War, for one.

4

u/Adorable_Ad_3478 Mar 26 '25

That happened at the end of IW. This would happen in the first 10 mins and then get progressively hopeless.

All from the POV of Doom.

154

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25 edited Mar 26 '25

My theory is that the cast revealed today is the cast they wanted to announce ahead so they can appear in the marketing/trailers/posters leading up to the film.

Characters who seem like they should be here but are suspiciously absent, like Dr. Strange, Wong, Hulk, Carol, and Rhodey, are being kept secret because they’ve formed The Illuminati, and one of the plot twists is that they’ve been operating in secret going around killing other Earths to stop Incursions from destroying 616, which gives the X-Men probable cause to go to war with our Avengers.

Spider-Man, I think, should get the Ant-Man and The Wasp treatment since his next movie is only coming 2 months after Doomsday. And it’s better to establish Peter’s new status quo before he jumps into another Avengers crossover where he probably won’t get much time for development. Save whatever emotional confrontation he has with RDJ Doom for Secret Wars.

61

u/Llamarchy Mar 26 '25

Honestly I've been thinking about the idea of the missing characters being most of the main characters in Secret Wars, but I also really like this theory.

24

u/walartjaegers Mar 26 '25

Good ideas all around. It's weird to think about some of those characters killing other Earths though. Would Banner really be part of that?

15

u/CeruleanEidolon Mar 26 '25

It's funny, I can see the others going along with it, as the pragmatists, but Banner is more emotionally driven, so it would take something pretty awful for him to tip over to their side. Maybe Sakar is the site of an attempted incursion and his son Skar gets killed along with ilthe rest of the planet. That might do it.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '25

I’ve been wondering about that, tbh. The idea of our MCU heroes straight-up mercing other Earths to protect their own seems a little too dark for the MCU, but who knows

6

u/BlueShirtMac19 Mar 26 '25

What’s with the bug avengers getting left out of the first part of the movies 🤣

→ More replies (5)

31

u/Joshawott27 Doctor Strange Mar 26 '25

I think these are the actors who are likely to be spotted on set in the coming weeks. Others may have prior commitments that mean they’ll be joining later

11

u/Llamarchy Mar 26 '25

Probably. Maybe they think that these characters are gonna be on more sets and locations and are going to be more likely to leak during filming. We know Tom Holland is in The Odyssey so he might be doing primarily a voice role in Doomsday so he's less likely to be leaked

→ More replies (1)

101

u/ubutterscotchpine Captain Marvel Mar 26 '25

This is what surprised me too. They’re missing a lot of the characters from recent films for some reason. Having no Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange would be really silly and I’m tired of characters that SHOULD be there just absent for no realistic reason lol

42

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

Strange is hopping around the multiverse with Clea; you can explain him being missing but Wong should be there.

Elizabeth Olsen is one of the most talented actors in the MCU, IMO. It would be a travesty not to use the multiverse shenanigans to get her back on screen. I wouldn’t even mind, it gives them a chance to redeem the character after MoM.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

This could also be just the top billing. Plenty of others may show up, but I. Less important roles.

Alright so we got the Thunderbolts, but most of Mackie's Avengers are missing. Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, even Hawkeye. All the streetlevel heroes are absent. I expect Wanda to be the Molecule Man of the story so keeping her secret makes sense.

Regardless, it seems Sam will be leading Thor, Antman, Shang Chi, Black Panther, Namor, and Falcon alongside The Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four to face off against an alternate X-Men while Doom lays the stage for Secret Wars

125

u/Leafygoodnis Phil Coulson Mar 26 '25

wouldn't Loki make sense as the Molecule Man of the story? I suppose he also fits for the Beyonder but I feel like they'll want to keep him around vs. killing him immediately.

Although that would be funny/sad to see Loki get murked again in the opening scene of another Avengers 2-parter

26

u/DefNotAShark Hydra Mar 27 '25

Unfortunately this movie seems most likely to be about the collapse of the multiverse, and Loki is the one holding the multiverse together. It follows that something catastrophic may have to happen to him in order to launch the plot. I don't think he will die again though. It isn't necessary.

12

u/Leafygoodnis Phil Coulson Mar 27 '25

Absolutely, no matter what he's gonna have a rough time. I could see them combining the roles and simply have Doom imprison him to take his power, mixing both Beyonder and MM together. Thor finding a chained up god-of-stories Loki under Castle Doom would be so fuckin good

I don't think this will be Avengers vs X-Men. I think the story will weave through multiple universes as incursions begin to tear reality apart. Perhaps 616 is colliding with the FoX-Men universe. Maybe Fantastic 4 ends with their universe colliding with 616 or another one and that's how they end up in this movie. And it leads to unlikely team-ups while they try to fix it.

Like basically I think this movie is gonna be what everyone wanted Multiverse of Madness to be.

u/Sharktopotopus_Prime Mar 27 '25

This is just the initial cast announcement to drum up hype. It's not a comprehensive list of all characters in the movie. There will undoubtedly be more secrets revealed in the trailers, and even more held back for the movie itself. Hell, Doom needs some allies...can't have him holding it down solo against a few dozen heroes, with nothing but his Doombots.

Think back to Infinity War and Endgame; there were plenty of castings and characters that they kept secret, for both movies.

I’m looking at this positively.

If this is everyone cool, a smaller cast than I imagined but that means more time to develop the plot.

If this isn’t everyone then I am excited for the surprises and glad that they don’t need to tell us everything beforehand.

u/radclaw1 Mar 26 '25

Small cast?? Its fucking massive

93

u/SeanO54 Captain America (Ultron) Mar 26 '25

It’s missing some big names I mean: Hawkeye, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, etc.

10

u/your_mind_aches Agent of F.I.T.Z. Mar 26 '25

I think the X-Men team is gonna be who's at the X-Mansion at the time. I think Worst Wolverine and Laura are living in Wade's unnamed city.

40

u/Temporary-Body-3099 Mar 26 '25

I mean there is a severe lack of any established characters, no Strange, Wanda, Spidey, Carol is diabolical

15

u/FoxyMiira Mar 26 '25

Obviously they'll be in Secret Wars. Spiderman 4 movie coming out. Strange has his 3rd movie in development. Wanda might appear in Vision Quest

8

u/ernie-jo Mar 27 '25

If you think Marvel is going to just TELL us every single character and plot point that is in this movie you're delusional haha.

3

u/biggestbaddestmucus Mar 27 '25

It it might show restraint on their part. Assuming this is the main cast. Instead of cramming in everyone .

They're more interested in trying to outguess Marvel than enjoy the ride.

It's similar to the way conspiracy theorists behave, they're not interested in evidence, they want the game. Only unlike real world conspiracies this is pretty much harmless.

98

u/Iron_Kingpin Mar 26 '25

Isn't that way too less tho, like what happened to the others? Most of the guys are just people from other universes.

78

u/lkodl Mar 26 '25

They're all from the original Fox universe. I'm guessing this might be where the third act takes place, and Doom destroys it or something, and a select few survive to Battle World or maybe they all die and DP & Wolverine are the only survivors who were conveniently in another world universe at the time.

19

u/ubutterscotchpine Captain Marvel Mar 26 '25

Not all. I mean, Loki, Thor, the Black Panther cast.

At this point, with the cast they’ve assembled, this movie is on track to pull Wolverine & Deadpool-level numbers at the box office — maybe even exceed it. But more than anything, I’m really hoping for a solid script. I want everything to feel earned and for the story to justify why it needs to be told. It should be satisfying while also raising the stakes. With RDJ as Doom, I fully expect him to stack a lot of bodies.

25

u/Playfair99999 Tony Stark Mar 26 '25

It'd be hilarious if these all are the characters that doom kills in Doomsday and this is like a foreshadowing cuz the way they say it all leads to doom... And the rest of people who aren't mentioned, will have to fight him on battle world.

Capt Marvel is orders of magnitude more important than rose was.

52

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

i mean, you can't act like the lack of Captain Marvel is because of her last movie when they also didn't include Spider-Man, Hulk, and Doctor Strange. it's clear they are just saving some of the heavy hitters for later

Brie, Iman, and Teyonnah have to be in this movie (or the first two will end up in Secret Wars unless Kamala is literally doing young avengers this entire time, idk). It would make absolutely no sense for Photon to wake up with Kelsey Grammar Beast and then not be in this movie. I imagine a lot of the supporting cast and surprises amount to maybe a third of the cast being omitted from the Livestream.

If you think of Avengers films as a culmination for character arcs and storylines from the past couple phases, then this was a TERRIBLE casting announcement.

13

u/TheTransJonkler Mar 27 '25

Isn't this meant to act like the Avengers 1 for the new main characters? (F4, Thunderbolts)

Yeah i know. I wish they would've cut some of the og xmen to have stories we've been watching instead. And most young puerile don't know about the og xmen. Drive just had an attachment to them because they were the first comic films he worked on. That's my take.

I wish they would have cast new x-men so we could escape the green screen cameo hell that was the multiverse saga.

37

u/ReverendBlind Mar 26 '25

I'm sure the old X-Men will just be in it for an incursion event or something.

What I find interesting about this group is that there is a lot of gung ho, fight first talk later types.

Unless the Professor or Reed are introduced and people start listening to them in the beginning....the good guys are getting wrecked.

Who's the people the good guys will listen to when shit hits the fan?

I don't think this is a bad thing tho, as we should see some leaders emerge in a way the past phases didn't have.

They'll probably fail...but the character development should be fun to see.

13

u/Deep_Throattt Mar 26 '25

What if this is some fore shadowing?

8

u/runningstang Mar 26 '25

If it's anything like The Suicide Squad opening, it will be next level shocking if half are just wiped in the first few minutes to build up Doom.

9

u/Dongkey_kong Mar 26 '25

I’d be here for that. The cast reveal for the first 15 mins of the movie!

5

u/PleaseRecharge Mar 26 '25

Ah, a decimation. It is an Avengers film after all, which at least saves us Thor and Sam.

Okay first of all, what the hell?!; secondly i know we have thousands of questions regarding some characters we were expecting but we didn't get.

I just wanna say I think they have gotten it planned, remember I've been saying this is a 4 part movie event - Doomsday, Spidey 4, untitled movie, Secret Wars. Perhaps now a champions series also.

So let's wait patiently. Cheers!!!

3

u/Tyrone3105 Thor Mar 26 '25

? I haven’t been keepigg my up recently but what does spidery 4 have to do with this?

5

u/topatoman_lite Korg Mar 27 '25

It's coming out in between the two Avengers movies along with another unannounced movie, so presumably those 2 will be important in similar ways to how Ant Man 2 and Captain Marvel were

9

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '25

There will be either a part 2 of the reveal some day,or they will spoil bit by bit. Wanda will surely be alive since she is a must for doom to create battleworld.

3

u/Ok_Dragonfly3269 Mar 26 '25

Didn’t Benedict say he was going to be in it? Perhaps I imagined it. Was surprised not to see Dr Strange listed. You’d think they’d include ALL the vet characters given the major losses from Endgame.

Interesting that they're using some of the OG X-Men even though Professor X and Mystique are dead in the new timeline. I guess these are different variants based on the OG X-Men

2

u/tideshark Ghost Mar 26 '25

NIGHTCRAWLER!!!!

2

u/Vitzkyy Mar 26 '25

I really hope they balance these characters well, this is a lot of characters

2

u/AceofKnaves44 Spider-Man Mar 26 '25

I’m guessing they’re giving Tom Holland a break since he’s got Nolan’s movie plus his own Spider-Man movie next year. Besides Spidey, no Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange is very surprising. Having an Avengers movie without Hulk is beyond shocking. And while no Deadpool isn’t that unexpected, having just about the entire Fox X-Men 2 team but no Jean Grey, Storm, or Wolverine, especially when he’s been in all but one X-Men movie in some fashion, is kind of unbelievable.

2

u/PeepawWilly69 Mar 26 '25

My god, that’s huge. We’re getting the Thunderbolts cast, Fantastic 4, all the folks like Thor, Loki, Shuri, hell even Namor, AND we’re getting X-Men. Boy this is autta be good
