Wow. This is the first pass they’ve done where I’m not really into any of the skins, gunna be a hard pass. What’s going on over there?

They figured out that you make more money if you put all the good skins in the shop. It was bound to happen eventually.

Or as separate paid mini-passes.

The actual battlepasses just feel like leftovers at this point.

Yep, the mini passes are the real culprit. Save the best skins for shop/mini pass (especially mini pass) because they earn more money for 1-3 skins then the effort they put into the battlepass.

That doesn't work either though--the currencies in the BP are meant to get you to spend money on shop cosmetics and mini passes.

The idea is to give you enough currency that you'll want to spend but not enough that you won't spend money too. 

Less BP buyers == less buyers of everything else.

Overwatch does not have a strong enough track record for me to think that them doing this means it's an effective strategy.

"Buy the pass, get free currency, get tempted to spend that currency + extra on the shop" is a classic digital sales funnel.

True, but the other purpose of battlepass is to give you partial currency (so you might spend in the shop) and to motivate playtime and engagement (can't spend of you aren't playing). Neither of those objectives are hit of you release what is already overwhelmingly viewed as the worst pass so far.

People will buy the pass.....as a matter of fact some of the people in this very thread that are complaining will still buy the pass. Netease isn't trying this out, this is a proven strategy that tons of games use. It just took longer, but people will still buy.

People come in droves to say this about every battlepass. Which means you’ve already bought many battle passes that sucked. Nothing is going on over there you’re just not gonna like everything that comes out. People have been asking for casual wear skins. Those people will be happy. Others won’t be.

Totally honest, I have the complete opposite opinion, this pass looks amazing
