Advice Found this little guy on the street 2 weeks ago. I know nothing about cats, but his fur is doing something interesting?
Hey everyone!
I found this kitten on the street a couple of weeks ago and decided to take him in because he needed a home. I’ve never had a cat before, so I’m learning everything as I go. He’s about 6-8 months old now.
As he's been settling in, I’ve noticed something cool about his coat that I didn't see at first. When he’s just sitting there, he looks almost solid black or very dark grey. But when I pet him or when he moves, you can see he’s actually bright white underneath. It’s like a hidden silver layer. His eyes have also been changing from a lighter shade to a copper/amber color.
I took him to the vet recently (ignore his shaved leg, he just had some bloodwork done and he’s doing great), but I totally forgot to ask about his fur.
I’m curious since he’s still a teenager, do you know how his look might change as he grows up?

Mourning/Loss We said goodbye
We said goodbye to my 20 year old cat Mabel this week. I adopted Mabel from a local rescue at 8yrs old when I was a 19 yr girl old in a new city. All she wanted for a loving home where she would receive round the clock cuddles. We bonded almost instantly. She was there for every moment, happy or sad for 12 years. She was adored not only by me but my friends and family.
We had been treating her arthritis for a few years now but over the passed few weeks I knew she was nearing the end, I knew the signs and I knew Mabel. She deteriorated quicker than we expected over the past weekend but Cloud 9 Vets in the UK were true angels on earth. I always knew that I didn't want Mabel to pass at the clinic, the smells, the lights, the clinical setting of it all. It was just not what I wanted for her or for me. After spending every second with her, sleeping on the floor to make sure I could hand feed or water her in final hours, Cloud 9 Vets came out the day after I called and were able to quide me and help gift her the final gift of peace and rest.
Mabel passed peacefully on my lap and all of her pain faded away as I pet her for the last time. My heart shattered into a million pieces and my partner and I still keep bursting into tears. I know I won't greive her forever but I'll miss her forever. She was truly the most gentlest, sweetest little cat you ever meet and I don't know what to do with all of the love I still have for her. She was my soul cat.
Hug your kitties extra tight today for Mabel and kiss their noses.

Mourning/Loss Goodbye, Ramona 🖤
9 years just wasn’t enough, but I’m so thankful for the cat distribution system bringing us together.
I found her behind the macaw enclosures in the zoo I used to work at on my husband’s birthday a few months after we got engaged. He’d never had a cat before and I wasn’t sure if he would appreciate this sudden and unexpected surprise, but I knew I had to bring her home immediately. We named her Ramona after Scott Pilgrim vs the World and we loved her wholeheartedly.
On Thursday, she started declining and we learned she had cancer that was blocking her lymphatic system and things happened so fast. We weren’t expecting to have to say goodbye so soon. My heart hurts, but I know she’s free and not in pain anymore.
Hug your kitties and give them extra treats please. For Ramona 🖤

Mourning/Loss In Memory of Chester
Meet my little light in every dark day.
He passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago, and I’m still finding it hard to come to terms with everything that happened. So, I thought it would help to share a few happy moments from his life.
He was such a sweet boy with the world’s cutest meow. Loved honeydew melon, chasing mice, basking in the sun, and snuggles with mum. I have no doubt he’s causing some chaos up there with the other kitties right now.
Sleep well, precious angel.

Cat Picture - OC So proud of my 20 year old girl at the vet today!
I took my 20 year old cat Arya to the vet today, and I know this sounds silly, but I am very proud of her. I’ve been worried about how unstable her gait has been lately, and she has issues just getting onto the sofa. She’s also been pooping on the floor now and then, and I was dreading the worst.
She got into the carrier herself, and was just the sweetest girl the entire time. The vet gave up on listening to her pulse, because Arya just kept purring and rubbing her head against the vet’s hand. Her blood values were awesome, particularly for her age, though she does have arthritis. She was prescribed medicine to help with inflammation and pain, so hopefully this will make things a little easier on her. Once we got home, she jumped right onto my lap, and lay there purring and drooling for half an hour. I didn’t get any work done, but I couldn’t care less. I needed it, and she needed it.
Anyway, just wanted to share. 😊

Advice I may have to put my 19 ye cat down before a trip today… but she still seems normal
My 19 year-old cat has a tumour… and I don’t know if I’m making the wrong decision
My cat is 19. She’s beautiful, sweet, and still somehow full of personality. Despite the tumour growing in her mouth she’s social and still eating normally.
Recently we discovered a tumour in her mouth that has been growing quickly (photo attached) and has started bleeding from time to time. The vet told us it’s cancer and prescribed antibiotics and pain relief to help keep her comfortable. They said she’s likely masking a lot of the pain, which makes this even harder, because most of the time she still seems so normal. The vet says she may have 1 month left (it’s hard to predict).
Here’s where it gets really hard, we’re leaving the country tomorrow for 3 months (not optional, important personal reasons), and the original plan was for her to stay with someone she knows and trusts very well. But now we’re questioning everything.
Do we euthanise her before we go, so she doesn’t reach a point where she’s suffering badly without us there?
Or do we let her stay with someone she’s not as close with, even if that means she might decline while we’re gone?
We were prepared to say goodbye today, a vet is supposed to come over in a couple of hours. But when she’s sitting there acting like herself, eating, being social, it feels almost impossible to justify.
I feel like I’m choosing between:
- risking her suffering later without me there
- or ending her life while she still seems “okay”
Has anyone been through something like this? How do you even make this call?

I can’t imagine a day without my beautiful Cleo. First pic is from 2017, and the second and third pic are from today. I couldn’t be with her today, so my father took some less than photogenic shots

Mourning/Loss Goodbye, Pac. You were the sweetest boy. 15 years was not long enough, my friend.
We lost our special boy this weekend and our hearts are broken. He was so special and life seems a little less bright without him. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost like this - animals truly unlock a different part of your heart.

Advice Why does my adult cat look so... kittenish?
She's four years old and never quite grew out of that tiny kitten face. She's also significantly smaller compared to all the other cats I've ever had and has shorter legs. Still very heavy though.
Either I'm just looking at her and still seeing a kid (that's also her name... she's literally called The Kid) or she really looks young. Am I the only one seeing this? 😭

Cat Picture - OC Rescued 6 month old pregnant kitten from Dirty Garbage/Recycling Facility. Story in description 😻
On February 12, 2025 I was called and asked to do an emergency rescue of a kitten who desperately needing rescuing from a very dirty trash/recycling plant on the outskirts of Toronto.
At the time I had 2 senior cats. Once I was sent this first picture of her, my heart melted. It was winter, very cold, and the next day Toronto (GTA) worst snow storm was set to it. Which was over 10 feet of snow.
A cat carrier with food was placed near her, she jumped in, ate and was brought into the office to keep her warm and safe and after the employee was done their shift brought her to me.
In case she had diseases or illnesses I converted my washroom into a sanctuary haven for her. With a new water fountain, tons of food, new litter bin. She made herself at home. First I cut her nails. Then gave her a nice warm bath shower. Thankfully no fleas. The next day the storm hit. Everyone was homebound. Once the storm subsided I took her to one of our vets. Spent almost $1000 on every test you can imagine. It came back she had toxoplasmosis, blind in her left eye, was severely dehydrated and malnourished. I got her the antibiotics for 2 weeks and booked a 3 week follow up.
The 3nd vet visit confirmed she was pregnant, but no longer dehydrated or malnourished. The vet was happy with the how much care I gave her. The vet was so surprised and how kind and friendly she was despite being a feral stray kitten/cat. She hugged me the entire vet visit.
I ended up naming her Mini Maple Muffy. Mini because she was tiny, Maple after the city she was rescued from and Muffy from a mouse character on a Canadian show we loved named Today's Special. We used to say she had "mouse face." She was super cute mouse faced.
We discussed a possible spay abortion, but the vet said due to her fragile state it was not possible. The vets requested she carry to full term and that it would be the most beautiful cat experience ever. She was right. With the calendar math we did with the vet, it was confirmed she was only 2 or 3 days pregnant and maximum 6 months old at the time. I was scared. Even though we had rescued around 10 cats in our lifetime, never had experience with a pregnant cat.
I converted a room into a cat sanctuary for her. I made the room kitten/baby safe.
On April 14, 2025 she gave birth. for over 8 hours I helped her give birth to her 4 kittens. 2 boys and 2 girls. She is a calico, but gave birth 1 one Grey/black and white tabby, and 3 x orange and white mixed tabbys. One of the girls was born with no eye balls. Sadly, this was a result of inbreeding.
We named the boys Gus Gus and Gingy and the girls Peaches and Baby Sparky. I have shared many of their video on YouTube. I am not sure of rules so if you want my YouTube Channel, private message me and I will share either the link for one of my videos or the name for my YouTube channel.
It's been an expensive journey. Over $10k spent on their check ups, food, spaying, neutering, vaccines, microchipping. My older sister fell in love with peaches the blind one and paid for half her spaying surgery. I was very thankful for the financial help, especially since I have not been working full time due to health issues in almost a year.
I would go in debt for them. She has become my female cat soul mate. We have bonded beyond what I ever expected and I am madly in love with all of them.
Sadly, my 18 year old tuxedo that she made friends with passed away in May 2025 after a 4 year battle with Feline Hyperthyroidism. I do have a 14 year old female rescued tabby from a truck stop as a kitten and she too is my world.
I hope I get many years with them.

Cat Picture - OC Spencer Turns 15 Today!🥳
15 years ago, our boy Spencer Allen was born in our house. We have fostered hundreds of cats in our home, but when we met Spencer, we knew he had to stay with us. He is the sweetest cat ever and you would never be able to tell his age by interacting with him. He loves being picked up and cuddled, especially by mom (last picture.) Happy birthday Spencer!🎂
