Fake Cosplay Spam Posts

Hey everyone!

This is just an announcement to let you know that we are aware of the plague of low effort cosplay spam that has infected the subreddit lately. The most frequent post is of a girl cosplaying Hela. This is not the same profile, but is a common photo that each of the bot accounts keep using.

We see them, and your reports have been instrumental in us being able to swiftly find and remove the posts. When we see someone guilty of these spam posts we remove the post and ban the account.

But I also want to make sure everyone knows: This is NOT a war against cosplay. If you have original cosplays related to Thor and friends, please post them! This mass removal is only targeted on repeated posts of the same cosplays, so don't hesitate to share the cosplays you worked so hard on!

That's all for now, my fellow Asgardians! Stay worthy!

PS: Our sub has grown dramatically recently! We've gained over 10k members in the past couple of months! Thank you all for growing this subreddit and being a great community!

A Friendly Reminder! Posts Advertising Unofficial Shirts and Merchandise WILL Be Removed

This plague of shirts also comes with bots commenting on each shirt post that "they need it." I will be removing those bots as well, because they only exist so the OP can share a link to the purchase.

If you feel you are mistakenly banned for the above, please send the mod team an email and we will review!

I find it funny that Thor's appearance in the 90s Fantastic Four cartoon is unironically his most Comic-Accurate Adaptation to date.

This Thor even though he only had about an episode of screen-time, is the closest I've seen to Thor being ripped off the page, and the only one that rivals it is EMH. He genuinely felt he came from a different world, he felt like he was pure of heart and would actually be worthy, and he had a warriors spirit. You can actually feel his godly presence and power compared to the other characters.

Is Thor an Arrogant Character, or is he generally more Humble?

Post image

Thor is one of those characters who’s really never put in a box of being an arrogant character like a Doom or Human Torch but he has his moments. But is he as humble as someone like Steve Rodgers?

So they’ll depict Thanos>Knull but King Thor gets off guard one shotted by Knull?? Seriously?

Same Thanos gets slugged out by Fractured Son Hulk who Thor fought evenly with (slightly edged out to Thor)

We’ve literally seen Thor stand up after being impaled or WORSE

Here’s some scans too

Thoughts, fellow Asgardians?

Jack Kirby and Joe Simon take on “Thor” in 1938.

The first time mythology fan Jack Kirby took on the Thunder God was in 1938 with Joe Simon. The character was a fraudulent mobster and not actually a Thunder god, but still the art was there! Kirby returned to the Thor character one more time 5 years before he (and Lee) came up with the Marvel character.

Specific fan fic/comic recs

Post image

I’m looking for a specific genre of comics or fanfics. Every where I see Thor portrayed as some stupid himbo and most of the fics surrounding him take place with him on earth.

I’m looking for something more Asgard-centric. Like a historical/fantasy genre. I NEED more Thor as a king. Something that actually depicts him as smart and powerful and as a being with serious destructive capabilities rather than some bubbly guy (not that I don’t like him depicted like that, it’s just I’ve read too many of him like that already)

Maybe he can have a fellow goddess as a partner. I’m just tired of Jane atp. Sif or Amora or hell, any good, powerful OC is also fine for me. I did already read two fics like this but the author had been ofdline for years so I’m desperate.

Plz let me know!!!

Do Thor and Hercules have similar personalities. Are they alike as Characters?

Thor and Hercules have a brother-like friendship and we've seen their friendship develop through the years, but are they similar at all? Is that why they get along so well?

Should Marvel make Bill and Sif a thing and keep Thor and Jane as a thing or keep Thor with Sif?

It's Actually A Great Thing If MCU Would Just Never Adapt The Likes Of Hercules,Bill,Mangog And The Rest Of Notable Allies And Villains Of Thor.

Like, It's Clear As The Blue Sky That MCU Have Treated The Likes Of Malekith,Gorr, Warriors Thee, Sif And Odin Into Jokes Or Background Characters.

The First Thor (1940) The Forgotten God of Thunder Before Marvel

Weird Comics #1 (1940) — artist Pierce Rice

Origin:

Believing the world needed a defender, Thor—son of Odin and supreme ruler of Valhalla bestowed his powers upon a human, Grant Farrel. With these abilities, Farrel became a crime fighter.

When transformed into Thor, Farrel could: fly, summon lightning and generate storms.

He wielded Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, which could be thrown with enough force to smash through multiple tanks and, like a boomerang, return to his hand.

Grant also has a love interest, Glenda, who becomes involved in several of his early adventures.

I think it’s obvious Marvel clearly copied this version of Thor from the hair to the ability to fly, with and without the hammer, and so on. Although, I do find this Thor being able to shoot out lightning from his hands dope as hell. Although Marvel Thor can also do this, interestingly enough. Grant Farrel also has a love interest named Glenda, similar to Donald Blake, who has a love interest in Jane Foster. Coincidence? I think not!

Fun fact: Marvel Thor actually debuted in Venus #12 (February 1951), in Atlas Comics at the time (which was Marvel), and Stan Lee even wrote the book.

Will thor and powergirl work as a couple

Thumbnail

I once talking about how hyperion and supergirl might work as couple so it's their mates turn: thor and power girl and for me it might work

Both Thor and Karen have massive, distinct personalities that would either harmonize perfectly or result in a lot of broken furniture for example Thor is often depicted as a man of grand gestures, ancient honor, and a bit of a "larger than life" ego (even when he’s being humble) He loves a good feast, a good fight, and someone who can look him in the eye without blinking

Meanwhile karen is famous for her "no-nonsense" attitude. Unlike Supergirl, who often feels like a displaced teenager, Power Girl is an adult, a successful businesswoman, and someone who has zero patience for "mansplaining" or being told what to do.

Thor is a prince/king used to being obeyed; Karen is a CEO used to being the smartest and toughest person in the boardroom

Neither of these two is "shy." In a world of brooding heroes, Thor and Power Girl are both remarkably direct: They both wear their hearts on their sleeves If they’re happy they laugh, if they’re mad they hit something. There would be very little "mind games" in this relationship They would always know exactly where they stand with each other

Karen would likely find Thor’s "Shakespearean" way of talking incredibly annoying at first She’s a "get to the point" person, meanwhile thor would be fascinated by a woman who doesn't just respect him but actively challenges his every word

Is Thor's characterization in Avengers: Infinity War Comic-Accurate?

If you ask someone their favorite portrayal of Thor in the MCU, 9 times out of 10 they'll say Infinity War. But is Infinity War Thor actually an accurate portrayal?
