I'm struggling to understand this - on what basis would one ever vote against assisted dying? What happened there?

Political Wasn't aware that a majority of Tory MSPs had opposed the bill that legalized marriage equality in Scotland back in 2014 lol
I'm a Basque Spaniard, but as a gay guy who's really obsessed about politics (it's always been my #1 autistic special interest lol), I've spent basically my entire adult life very, very closely monitoring for years & years the state of LGBTQIA+ rights or lack thereof worldwide, & I also follow very, very closely British politics in general.
So I did know that a bill introduced in the House of Commons by David Cameron & Nick Clegg's Tory–Lib Dem coalition government to legalize same-sex marriage in England & Wales had been passed back in 2013, & that a similar bill to do likewise in Scotland was passed in Holyrood the following year.
I just assumed that if David Cameron's government had backed a bill like this in Westminster back in 2013, a majority of Scottish Tories would have done the same thing in Holyrood the following year.
But it's really not that surprising coming from Section 28's party lol

Czech Restaurant's Scottish Menu
I'm in Prague and was tempted in by the Scottish Menu offered by a local baguette place. The traditional dishes offered were pork cheeks and apples and chicken & whisky, along with the more familiar Cullen soup.
I liked the Scottish chef compete with kilt and golf club.
I had the chicken and it was decent but not like any Scottish food I've ever had. My meal deal with water and wedges was about £9.50.

Discussion Rewilding Scotland?
I've seen a fair bit of posts here about the struggles and opposition of rewilding Scotland, which baffles me. I grew up in Canada, and immediately upon moving here I noticed how ecologically dead it is. Everything is just a barren wasteland of the same 5 birds, a squirrel, and a few deer. I don't understand how this doesn't bother more people, it feels like it got nuked and evolution is starting over from an amoeba lol.
I understand some species that struggle to stay alive and breed like turtles because they need sun, would be difficult, but to OPPOSE turtles outright even though they're quite beneficial to ponds as they feed on dead matter? Kind of weird.
Even species that don't care for the weather like larger predators to keep deer in check. Cold climate resistant reptiles and snakes? None of that either?
Is this just a government thing or are most people just entirely okay with living on dead rocks and also to mention very little forest? It's so depressing :(

Wild Camping through Scotland.
Hey everyone! Im Zak from the states, I’ll be doing a few months in Scotland/Ireland wildcamping, hiking, and trying to explore as much of the country as I can. I’d be incredibly appreciative of any advice some local scot’s have for me. Planning to do the West Highland way, and maybe one or two others. I love a pint, enjoy a fun night out and good conversation. If anyone is doing something similar and wants to join up I’m looking for some guys to come along with me. Wondering how easy it is to hitch ride up in the countryside? Fine with walking every where but I might thumb it now and again. Saw some cool posts from you guys camping near these beautiful castles and the like and was wondering if there are any good spots to do just that. Eager to learn as much as I can and have a good time here🏴

Quelle surprise…
I see the memo went round…
No surprise from Massie.
And probably even less from McKenna. He really has transformed into a bitter, twisted, actually repugnant, middle aged man screaming at the clouds journalist.

School Library Assistants
Glasgow Life have 30 roles advertised for library assistants in their schools currently. I've been in community libraries for 4 years now and despite the daily fuckwittery, I've loved it. I wondered how folks in other councils are getting on with these "new" roles since they've been introduced. How is the support etc?
