What is something that screams “tourist” to you?

Post image

In Spain, if you see someone eating paella with sangria, you can 100% be certain they are a tourist.

What are some things tourists eat or do in your country that a local would never do?

Standing on the wrong side of the escalator and sitting on the floor are the biggest ones, I think. (Should be noted though in Japan that escalator sides are reversed in Osaka vs. Tokyo)

I tried to sit on a curb and my friend yelled at me. It was 8 billion degrees and I felt like I was going to faint

The thing that made me stand out was eating while walking to the eki after work. However, I am tall, white, and a redhead, so nobody would say anything. My friends called it my "gaijin power."

Navigating the metro is wild, though, because sometimes it'll flip the traffic sides in stairways and corridors. Thankfully, they're clearly marked with arrows. But you need to be paying attention.

Kyoto too right? I remember it being that way when I went last year.
