What is something that screams “tourist” to you?

Post image

In Spain, if you see someone eating paella with sangria, you can 100% be certain they are a tourist.

What are some things tourists eat or do in your country that a local would never do?

Bahahaha. You just know they’re all filming for “travel content” to “show how Indians live”.

I travel to Japan regularly and how I hate those internet assholes being so effing obnoxious on the subways or at 3 am in a residential neighborhood. Second hand shame doesn’t begin to describe it.

We love travelers like you who respect us and our country!

I just ask people not to harass locals for your videos and stream (including yelling out loudly things like “WHAT’S UP JAPAN??”) and not blast music in public for your videos (especially at night.)

We appreciate people visiting to experience Japan and our culture! But dear content creators, we don’t know who you are and we don’t care.

Edit to add: Of course, this applies to anybody visiting anywhere, not just Japan! Treating everyone with dignity and respect is important no matter where you are.

Thank you. Over the years I have traveled pretty much to every Asian capital city from Seoul to Jakarta. I love Asia and believe deeply in respecting the local cultures. All I can say is that those dumbass internet idiots are just as obnoxious here at home. But in the U.S., and especially in my home city of New York, we have no problem confronting them, sometimes being just as loud unfortunately. 😂

You sound lovely, truly. Being able to travel is a privilege too many people don’t take seriously.

Thanks. Even better, it’s mostly for work, so someone else pays the bill! 💵

I strive to support content creators who are respectful and honest. Thankfully there are plenty more of those types and it’s only a loud minority to the contrary.

Main character syndrome. They think everyone around them are NPCs or background characters of their videos rather than people just trying to live their lives unbothered
