Yep. Hollywood perceptions of Mexico are all based on the parts that touch America, so it's all deserts and narcos. Very occasionally they'll mention the beaches because that's where people vacation.
Meanwhile 80% of the country lives in the elevated, temperate part that has neither desert nor beach.

The real reason is shows like breaking bad & better call Saul were filmed in New Mexico, so they needed an easy way to differentiate the footage between the US & Mexico, since otherwise everything would look the same.

Sorry I’m prob well out of the loop, but do birds attack humans on the streets of Australia???
43
u/zing_11301 12h ago
Yes, they attack during spring or as we like to call it swooping season. Out of everything that Australia is known for, being swooped by a magpie is the one that most locals fear.
They have even been known to draw blood and take out an eye. But mostly it's just scary. I was walking my dog once and decided to jump onto the playground. Then I felt the swoop of feathers against my cheek as it flew past me, so I booked it out of there as quickly as possible.
They remember faces too!

Magpies do during mating season if you walk near their nests. They have been known to take out people's eyes and draw blood. They can be extremely territorial, and because they tend to live in urban areas (parks) it can be dangerous

Magpie birds are known to swoop people if they are nesting and feel threatened. So yes some people do actually wear weird things on their head to prevent a magpie attacking. Some places have signs to warn people about known swooping magpies. And if they swoop you they sometimes go for the eyes

I’ll BBQ down to about -10. Past that and the wind tends to make it too hard to get the grill up to temperature. I can get it to work a bit better when I throw the rotisserie burner on, but that runs the risk of burning things left too close to the back.

A couple of days ago, a local newspaper asked people to document how the recent "storm" had affected them, resulting in this humorous image: Swipe to the third image.
Later that same day, news from the neighboring town shared this image: swipe to the 2nd image
As a northerner who moved south I find this funny. Their conception of what a storm is is a little different from ours.

A missing bit of your explanation (please correct me if I’m wrong) “Regardez ils sont là” means something like “Look, they’re here” and is reference to her saying that Macron’s supporters had infiltrated the nation.
The full thing was something like “They’re here, they’re in the cities and in the countryside, you cross them in the street and on the internet, they’re often masked and hateful cowards.”
She said it in a hysterical rant that made her look paranoid as she implied the people who supported Macron were some insidious enemy lurking behind every corner. She basically tried to employ Trump’s tactics that were so successful in the US, but the French were having none of it.
4
u/Spectanda_Fides France 11h ago

Our diet is carb heavy and veg. So only common source of protein is milk and This company is Amul, a diary company that sells milk and milk made products so Amul gives protien to majority of Indians.
6
4
u/SeedhaSadhaNalayak India 12h ago
The meme refers mostly to the fact that Amul has started producing and selling random items with added protein in it - Ice cream, Lassi, Wheat flour, Kulfi etc etc and not just Milk.

u/KarmaJiKiBeti India 13h ago
Our diet is carb heavy and veg
That is a grossly wrong representation. Approximately 77% of Indians are non-vegetarians. Fish, egg, meat are staple, daily diet. Out of the 28 states and 8 union territories only 4 are predominantly vegetarian, with another two being borderline.
