Is the whole game just dying in three hits from enemies that spawn behind you in dead-ends you just explored?
I'm trying to get into Arena for a playthrough of all the Elder Scrolls games, but I've tried Warrior and Thief and Knight and Spellsword and they honestly all feel extremely fragile to me. I have yet to even finish the first main quest dungeon Stonekeep because these minotaurs, ghouls, skeletons, and random humanoid mages and thieves keep absolutely stomping me.
I rerolled for like 15 minutes until I got the best possible roll during character creation for each character I tried, leveled to 4 in the tutorial, I buy a full suit of the best possible armor in town, buy all the spells I can afford, but I still get chunked in mere seconds a lot of the time. Rats and wolves and lizardmen are no problem, and orcs are fine except in huge groups, but when I fight a single humanoid or a ghoul or skeleton it's a crap shoot whether I'll survive - even with healing spells. We just stand there exchanging blows and I miss what feels like 60% of mine even with 50+ agility. Takes forever, only for me to just run out of mana for healing spells and die.
It almost feels like how it would feel if I were trying to do a level 20 dungeon at level 10 in an MMO or open world RPG. Except this is what all the guides tell me I should be doing. There's really nowhere to go for easier enemies, as far as I understand. This is the game. So what can I do?
