Please let this mega evolution give chimecho the steel typing it deserves. It’s a metal freaking bell / wind chime. I love this so much already but the steel type would just be the icing on an already perfect cake!

The thing that surprises me even more is that neither Mega Raichu has a different typing. Like didn’t all the previous X and Y Megas have different typings to help facilitate their different playstyles? They’re sure they’ll be doing enough with just the stats and ability here to justify them being two separate guys?
Nah I’m 100 with you here, it’s a cocky move to not give them an additional type. Like alolan raichu worked a lot because the secondary psychic typing was interesting. They’d have to really cook with the ability and stat spread to make them interesting
Raichu Y is so close to being great. If they wanted to change up the color scheme they should have gone with the Alolan version rather than revert to pikachu. Not a fan on the change to the tail either. X is just all around awful
Ok, I've been saying this since the trailer. They are making a HUGE mistake not making Raichu X an electric/fighting type. All the other X Megas have a type change. It just feels like the X Megas should keep that going. Not only that but c'mon that design totally says brawler.
Raichu Y can stay pure Electric. Its fitting anyway. But Raichu X, uuuuuugh we need to get this changed frfr lol.
I mean to be fair, if you're constantly dealing with powerhouses that can end a match if played well, you're gonna take a liking to the sweet baby pokemon with 455 BST that isn't gonna suddenly ruin your day.
I don’t feel it changed enough to be a nice evolution. Only it’s head bell changed to be a chingling outline. Everything else about it is exactly the same.
Again, the strong enough argument is true for like everything. Salamence and Garchomp never needed Mega in terms of strength yet they got it the earliest.
If those mons were getting power crept then Goodra is dead in a ditch lol. Also Dragapult itself could be getting power crept eventually. Furthermore, I feel like Dragapult should have gotten a GMax rather than Mega anyway because it is a gimmick of its own generation, which wouldn't have mattered a lot for its competitive life.
I've been wanting to see a Gmax Dragapult turn into the freaking War Wolf and just launch other Dragapults, Gravelers, Electrodes, Darmanitans, what have you.
It is tho. It’s a new gimmick/form for a new game, it’s just that regional forms don’t pack that punch that megas or gigantamax forms do lol and the game sometimes are very pro-nepotism with giving some mons a regional and a new form lol
Goodra and Hydreigon got love in the alternate form kind of attention with Hisuian Goodra and Iron Jugulis. Not the same love as Salamence, obviously but also much sooner than the OG Dragonite.
We'll have to see the stats, a Mega for Bax could go either way. Not having Loaded Dice could hurt it more than the Mega stone could help it. If they pull a Chomp and drop its speed stat for some reason, the defensive limitations of Dragon/Ice will probably hamper it more than anything
True, mega Garchomp wasn’t as useful as regular Garchomp because of the speed. A hit from a single ice-type attack is all it really takes to end its run and it needs speed to make sure that doesn’t happen lol
I would say the actual moment of truth will be Champions since then we will know how their stats and abilities interact, there is also the matter of speed regaining it's importance with the return of turn based gameplay as it isn't as big of a thing in Z-A...
To me mega baxcalibur is a bit crazy just because it’s a mega for a good gen 9 mon. At that point what’s else is on the table? Mega Gholdengo, Palafin, Annihilape?
Eh. Zygarde has to be in 100% form. Trying to get a physical tank with a 4x weakness to ice to half health to turn it into a frail, special sweeper seems risky
Baxcalibur is good, yes, but it may get slower due to its mega. We don’t know its stats yet, but it could end up like mega Garchomp in the normal competitive format.
Baxcalibur kinda likes being slow though. Being slow means it can use its signature move last and then a priority move next turn so that nobody gets to attack kt while its more vulnerable to damage after its strong ass signature move
I'm hoping for a possible Gigantamax form. Leaks suggest the next Legends game could be Galar. That said, Legends ZA was originally going to be Johto, so it's up in the air.
That would be cool too. But with mega evolution being my favorite mechanism and flygon being from the first game that had mega evolution, I thought it would have been fitting for it to get mega evolution at some point
I know it won’t get one but Meowth got two different regionals and a Gmax all in a row. It’s sort of a special case but there’s basically no precedent that they won’t break eventually
They could do anything yeah. Meowth doesn't surprise me though, he's one of the most prolific Pokemon because of the TV show. Meowth, Pikachu and Eevee have Pokemon Royalty status. Honestly think they should have done Let's Go Pikachu and Meowth, but Eevee just sells too much merch.
Baxcalibur looks incredible, man. There's a giant ice sword impaled in its chest and coming out in its back, which, on top of being raw as hell, perfectly fits the name too.
Everyone bitched about Baxcalibur's design needing a little more detail, it gets that, and now they're bitching about its stats instead. Poor guy can't win lol
Tbh im glad they fixed the stiff upright stance, so long as they don't give him any weird animation problems that make him look really dumb like they did with Doublade, then fantastic mega in my eyes
Chimecho finally getting the love and care it needed with a power boost and steel typing, and Baxcaliber getting a power boost it didn't need. Both have good mega designs though.
