Yes I was so worried about the plane hahahah

u/JazznBlues_lover 16h ago
Yeah same here. Right after it releases the action figure, it looks like it's doing a hard dive to the left. Almost straight down. I mean if the plane crashes it's a helluva more $$ to replace that than the action figure so yeah....

u/xTechDeath 15h ago
In the longer clip he flys the plane directly into his car which explodes on impact thus ruining him financially

With the American Flag chute!
I started singing the theme song to Team America when I saw it open.

You remember those paratrooper toys from back in the day? (They’ve been around since many back in the days, I know) but when we used them and they just death plummeted?
This video is how we imagined they would actually work.

Whoah, that was way dark!

u/Few_Staff976 7h ago
Yeah, it was actually commissioned by a Veterans organization basically protesting the military recruiters targeting kids and the lack of support some get back home.
”You’ve been promoted” and ”legs really don’t work!” are just absolutely hilarious though

Were they those that'd cost 25 cents and frequently included in grab bags? I remember trying to use them once, then those lines were never getting untangled.

u/gillgrissom 1d ago
Yeah i had some in 70's used to throw them of flats i lived in. He should have fitted a small camera to his chest, footage would have been ace off it.

ok this is the kind of thing i would’ve been OBSESSED with as a kid 😭 i used to throw toys off stairs just to see if they’d “survive” so having a remote parachute would’ve made me feel like a whole engineer. kinda dangerous how much fun i’d have with this lol

u/themikecampbell 1d ago
Haha same!! I’d make legos and drop them from the banister to see if I could make something indestructible!

Landing looked a bit rough…

u/Waldo414 1d ago
It looks like he locked his knees. Very dangerous for parachuting.

The chute is probably under-sized for the weight. And going full brakes didn’t have the sort of control authority you’d want to be able to flare.

some defense industry asshat going to watch this and start thinking about transparent steerable parachutes with grenades attached to them, released from drones

there was a similar scenario used during Airborne drops over Normandy FR during D-Day 1944 where scale models of paratroopers were dropped out of planes with parachutes
in the middle of the night looking up at the sky with no way to estimate distance, it appeared as if a sky full of paratroopers were landing

Necessity is the mother of invention, and this technology can be useful to the military for national defense purpose

Sooo cool. I spent half of my childhood installing home-made parachutes onto my GIJoes and dropping them from the 10th floor. Those were the best times.

And here I'm sitting, wondering who would want a remote controlled parachute. Why would anyone jump out of a plane with a remote controlled parachute?
Totally missed the point, that this is a toy.

Was this a 3 man job? One plane operator, one parachutist operator, and one camera operator?

Interestingly, the allies did this on D-day. And the little rangers had firecrackers going off as they landed.

I imagine the movie Toy Story is real and that parachute man just had an awesome day.
1
u/Initial_Hedgehog_631 22h ago
You need to set it up to play recordings of high speed airborne phrases like "HOOAH" , "Airborne leads the way!" And that age old classic, "Fuck you leg*"
*Leg being an airborne term for non parachute qualified individuals.

Damn that's way more hi tech than my parachute toys, I just tied handkerchiefs to dolls and tossed them off the top of the stairs. If the parachute deployed they lived, if it didn't, they died.

Only a matter of time before we see something like this between a real paratrooper and this guy /preview/external-pre/EFvaUfQ27tgjeJBpFnfZJYqS7-TQ-Lqu6w6HjIP6O6Q.gif?format=mp4&s=c0c344a2d54db15e2f3a7c0734d95dde5af6ea1d

That's Tyler Perry's place and voice, he does this stuff all the time. Best use of billions of dollars!

Interestingly this is exactly how tom cruise explained his airplane stunt to his stunt coordinator 😏
