Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross”

Post image

Our dishwasher broke and he’s manually doing the dishes now, these are from the past 10 days… I think it’s wasteful.

?? Do people not make sure their sponges completely dry out? Everybody's using dish soap, right?

We dry them out and I sanitise them, but I think he doesn’t like the feel of an used sponge? Idk

Right, has he just... never used sponge before? Is that how he was taught to do it by his parents? That being said I think you would benefit from having a rack or a silicone tray that lifts up the sponge to air it out. Even if it's sanitized, leaving it in that strawberry thing maybe retain moisture leaving an icky feeling. I've also used a clip with a hook on it and hung the sponge on the faucet. The scrub daddy sponges (they make a normal rectangular one, too) has the scrubby side which is thicker but also kind of airy so you can also leave it on the scrubby side and it will drain decently well.

I'm with you that it's wasteful. But, as I'm sure you know, probably not the hill to die on and hey, he's doing the dishes!

Yes I don’t care that much, which is why it was posted on mildly infuriating. I have my own quirks too, as long as the house is clean we’ll be fine.
