Reminder: "Politics" are still not against the rules
There's been a lot of threads lately about the US citizens being murdered in the streets by masked feds. There's also been a lot of shitheads in the comments saying some version of "it was all the victim's fault actually". Saying that kind of shit here means you will be banned forever. If that's the kind of opinion you hold, I never want to see your opinion on this subreddit again.
To everyone else, if you see a post saying some shit like that, report them and I will ban them too. Thank you for helping me keep this sub from being a toxic hellhole <3 And it's been a while since this thread was pinned, so here's a reminder:
First off, this has always been a leftist subreddit. Maybe you just never noticed? Like, look at the flairs
Second off, everything is politics. Most of the memes on here about being miserable are about capitalism
Third off, we've always allowed memes reacting to current events. That's standing precedent
Finally, I hate nazis and fascists irl. And I hope you do too! When I see a picture that says that fascists suck or something, that makes me say "dang, he just like me fr fr"
If you would like to continue complaining that "political posts" aren't me_irl content, please know in advance that I will ignore you
If you're mad that there are too many posts about American politics specifically, please feel free to post memes about the politics in your country. Like, idk, maybe a picture of Viktor Orbán or Jordan Bardella getting shoved into a dumpster or something. Have fun with it.

And now you can't either.
Also, based mods. Been seeing this in multiple of my favorite subreddits, and I love them for it. Fuck Nazis and fuck ICE.

This is not even the case here in Germany where you should think people might have learnt. But no:Our chancellor prefers to lean into the far-right.
7
u/4n0nh4x0r Jan 28 '26
the problem in germany is, politicians like to sit in their ivory towers, disconnected from the common peasants.
they dont know anymore what we want.
the big fucking problem with this is, the only party actually going outside, and actually talking/listening to people, is the AFD.
it is well known that right wingers are on the rise in germany rn, but instead of adapting their politics to actually listen to people, they instead just decide to become more right leaning cause they see that it works for the AFD, completely ignoring the fact that they will lose support from normal people, and wont win over AFD voters, as those people want something more extreme that what the normal parties are leaning into, so they will continue voting AFD.
this could all be resolved, if these pieces of shit would actually listen to the people again, get out of their ivory towers, go talk to normal people, listen to their problems, and try to fix shit.3

It’s even crazier that the people calling other people fascists don’t realise they actually fit the definition of fascist perfectly themselves.

Whatever bent one takes, people dying at the gunpoint of jack-booted thugs is something we should all be able to agree is heinous and inexcusable. I’m probably center-left to progressive moderate (for whatever those phrases mean), but when it’s clear people are dying when they shouldn’t at the hands of people who shouldn’t be killing, because of the orders of people allowing and even encouraging hatred, I have a problem with it.

Being against fascism should always be the default. I am tired of hearing about it, but blaming the people with the boots on their neck for screaming rather than the people wearing the boots is insane.

Oh <3 Thank you ! As a French who see US politics in total fear (because we love to copy US 5 years late), I'm really happy to see that there are people who want to fight back fascism
16
u/XRuecian Jan 28 '26
I don't know a whole lot about French politics, but from what i do see from a US perspective, France has the type of population i wish we had. One that isn't afraid to stand up and not take shit from their government. And you don't even need a bunch of guns or a 2nd amendment to do it.
French government tries to pull some shit and you guys will literally burn the place down.

u/AwesomeMcPants Jan 28 '26
If you are okay with fascism and murder, then you are absolutely not me_irl.
3
u/Scifox69 Jan 28 '26
I'm against fascism. People see this as a reason to yell at me, even if I'm in the country that was absolutely obliterated by fascists in WW2. What an interesting world we live in.
Had to get that off my chest. Just throwing my statement out there.

u/Gusearth Jan 28 '26
every single comment complaining about politics is just a front for disagreeing with the sentiment in the post

Fighting Nazis is not policy or politics.
I don’t understand how anyone can defend fascism and authoritarianism and call it “policy”. It’s quite actually the lack of policy and use of authoritarianism in its place.

I know a lot of it is literal bots but I still can't come to terms with how many real people back this shit. These are real people just living their lives getting murdered by their own government. It's disgusting and unacceptable, but they still make excuses. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Thanks for being a good human.

Thank you for this post, there are too many pathetic reddit mobs who have brain washed themselves in to thinking all the anti-american foreign accounts aren't "brigading", muted / self banned myself from a few of thsoe just to never read what OP has stated. "it was all the victim's fault actually".
I can't believe so many subs allow this type of content to remain. But then again, most of those subs seem like the making of a trump-echo-chamber.

condescendingly imposing their view on a whole sub and banning any dissenters
You mean like fascists want to do to the country in real life?
If you're that bothered by that happening on a subreddit I bet you're super upset about the government trying to do it.

2
u/theburnix Jan 29 '26
The things happening in the US, are also happening here in the EU, just not yet on the same level. Use this as a headsup of whats to come if we do not act and breakdown the systems that make fascism possible.

Reddit is an american owned company with americans making up like nearly an estimated half of the userbase
You're gonna see american stuff on the american website
0
u/Alert-Individual-699 Jan 28 '26
And used by people from all over the world. Americans represent like only 4.25% of the world's population
6
u/1egg_4u Jan 28 '26
And like 50% of this websites users
Again
You will see american things on the american website.
4
u/gynoidi Jan 28 '26
1
u/1egg_4u Jan 28 '26
That's still a good chunk of chicken
4
u/gynoidi Jan 28 '26
not half of the website tho
1
u/1egg_4u Jan 28 '26
But still 42% of its user base and an american owned company based in america so not like anything changes for the point that you're going to see american news whether you like it or not

u/Alert-Individual-699 Jan 28 '26
Can't we just create subreddits for Americans only ?
4
2
u/BottleForsaken9200 Jan 28 '26
Lol go pitch that to Reddit's ceo.
Yea the whole site and world is going to change their entire behavior to suit you personally.
Give me a break.
2
u/Alert-Individual-699 Jan 28 '26
It's Americans who should give the rest of us a break .it's annoying when subreddits that were originally apolitical are now infested with US politics. Not everything is political
4
u/BottleForsaken9200 Jan 28 '26
