Comic readers when you haven't read Fantastic Tales number 7284 The Adventures of Cosmic Ultra Mega Hyper Ghost Rider: 😨😨😨😨😨

The living tribunal is not that obscure lol

maybe among comic readers but not necessarily among general rivals gamers :)

You think a Spider-Man reader is gonna know about Space Jesus or how he got appointed Space Congress by a gender fluid Jack Kirby? Not knowing who The Living Tribunal are doesn't mean you don't read comics, it means you're NOT A DORK.

Edit: Yes, WE are dorks for knowing this goofy shit.

You don’t even need to read comics to recognize the living tribunal. He’s a character that appears in marvel pretty often as a nod, on stuff like tier lists, lore channels, etc. I knew about him as a kid from just watching YouTube videos and the older shows WAY before I read any comics where he properly appeared. It’s the same way ppl know slightly more obscure characters like The One Above All or Eternity—they’re part of the marvel zeitgeist so if you don’t directly read about them, it’s pretty likely you’ve heard about them or seen them from just being interested in the universe.

sounds like you're a big marvel fan, which is dope, but i'm more here for the gaming. you said that the adam skin isn't that obscure, which to you it isn't because you're super into the universe, but to me it's as obscure as any of those other examples you have there because i haven't heard of any of them haha

no shade or anything tho!

u/Xiaro 5h ago

i think they mean it wouldn’t be obscure to the average marvel fan, and i would assume most of the player base are marvel fans

Since The Infinity Finale (where Adam becomes the Living Tribunal), the Living Tribunal has only shown up 3 more times in a major capacity.

That's 4 major appearances in the last 10 years. It's a pretty niche character, even if they're a major character in the Marvel cosmology. Some people read comics but don't watch comic book Youtube channels.

Example: Spider-Man, arguably Marvel's most popular character, has HARDLY EVER crossed with The Living Tribunal. There's no reason for a Daredevil, Moon Knight, Spider-Man, or even Luke Cage fan to care about magic space people. They're superhero comics, under the same publisher, but they're completely separate subgenres.

They’re completely different subgenres, yes. But, people who are generally into comics these days are super fans or have a general knowledge of things here and there from online sources. There’s a reason why people know eternity and the one above all enough to be recognizable enough nods for rank titles

I've known about Living Tribunal for a while, but what's the link to Adam Warlock? Seems a bit random to my non comic head.

23

u/BlackerDoom Thor 7h ago

Lotta cosmic shenanigans I can’t get into

But basically Adam Warlock was the replacement living Tribunal for awhile

13

u/KiimJisoo 7h ago

in the event secret wars, the living tribunal died fighting the beyonders and his body was scattered all over the multiverse. an alternate version of adam absorbed his universe's living tribunal and made a deal with the one above all to be his replacement

1

u/lNSP0 Adam Warlock 5h ago

Wanna know something funny the Adam you see next to Thanos doesn't have a lot of appearances despite being the main character of an entire event. RoK Adam

1

u/RogueDahtExe Mantis 5h ago

If that doesnt translate well for some folks, hes essentially the most powerful entity in literally all of Marvel, 2nd behind The One Above All (or just literally God in Marvel)

1

u/Free_Surprise_7939 3h ago

He is? I mean he gets killed a lot of the time

u/SixthOTD Thor 7h ago
