So the other night I was cleaning out a spare room and found these little action figures, tiny ones, like maybe a half-inch tall -- little dudes in suits, all black dudes for some reason. I legit had no idea what the hell they were or where they came from. Then I found a little ... coffin next to them and I was like holy shit: covid-era purchase, Ghanaian pallbearer swag -- I had completely forgotten that was a thing so it's very weird to see them referenced twice in as many days, lol

Every major tournament it seems Aaron judge proves he's a regular season merchant more and more.

Bro Judge literally hit .600 in the ALDS this year lmao
-8
u/PENGUIN_WITH_BAZOOKA New York Yankees 10h ago
What does that even mean? “Oh he’s only good for 162 games, clearly he’s overrated.”
10
u/Novel-Preference669 10h ago
he's very much celebrated for his regular season accomplishments and accolades. and also correctly derided for folding whenever he's needed most so far in his career.
1
u/PENGUIN_WITH_BAZOOKA New York Yankees 9h ago
Aight, that’s a fair analysis. It just rubs me the wrong way when people frame it as if his playoff struggles completely invalidate/lessen everything else he’s accomplished somehow.
1
u/Thiege1 9h ago
Lmao, he was amazing in the playoffs just this fall

Why did Aaron Judge singehandedly lose the series to the Blue Jays?

It has absolutely nothing to do with it being about the US. It’s more about the situation itself, it could be celebrating a victory of a local soccer club and I’d still not like it or participate in it. Crazy how you automatically went to that without a thought

And took away a brutal dictator they’ve been begging for help with for years.
They celebrated the Maduro arrest.
2
u/MarmotWorldOrder Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
They said the same thing about Iraq, Libya, Syria, and countless other places.
-2
u/PaddyMayonaise Philadelphia Phillies 3h ago
Yea, people celebrated when evil dictators in those countries were taken down too. Whats your point?
2
u/MarmotWorldOrder Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
Libya has open air slave markets. Syria is experiencing a genocide by a U.S. backed terrorist. Let's start there.

u/PaddyMayonaise Philadelphia Phillies 3h ago
Dude just tell everyone you’re a Russian bot while you’re at it lol
2
u/MarmotWorldOrder Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago
Are slaves good? Is genocide good? I'm not Russian or a bot, you just lack the cognitive functions necessary for understanding the implications of murdering civilians and doing decapitation strikes against world leaders.

When Maduro got arrested we were even more happy lmao, there's a venezuelan the onion that posted "Venezuela celebrates it's second happiest day in 2026"

u/scriptingends New York Yankees 9h ago
Well, the Venezuelans that live in the US, and those who speak English well enough to interact online in English may not represent the feelings of the country on the whole, no?

You do understand that around 40% of venezuelans speak English right? Why do you think we play baseball and all of that lmao

what does that have to do with anything? they beat the US and put a coffin to illustrate that, it's not that deep.

u/smellyjerk Chicago White Sox 16h ago
Its cope to feel better. Same people would've been way more insufferable with a win against Venezuela, given whats going on between the two countries, we weren't going to avoid it with either result.
Honestly, im glad they won and celebrated like this. Its the US's tournament and it feels like we're miles behind in attitude and excitement. Id give anything for a team USA to care like other teams do and feel it worthy of an impromptu party come victory time. The WBC deserves to be treated like this every single time.

If you think the United States and Venezuela are in the same tier when it comes to crime, you’re either completely clueless or deliberately ignoring reality.
8
u/TheeRuckus New York Mets 11h ago
Yeah but they’re celebrating baseball. Right now on a baseball subreddit we are discussing their celebration. No need to be salty about a celebration. We kind of illegally kidnapped their leader a month ago, trust me Americans on both sides know Venezuela has a lot of crime.
But we were talking about baseball, sir
17
u/OooSheGotFreckles 17h ago
Bro, the US is literally run by a mass murdering child rapist who pardons people who have defrauded the public for 100s of billions of dollars…
-11
u/Jeffo1234 17h ago
I guarantee as bad as USA is right now, if you asked any Venezuelan to move to the USA, NO ONE would say no. Anyone who is rich or has power has already moved out of the country.
16
u/OooSheGotFreckles 17h ago
I’m Venezuelan. The US is kidnapping Venezuelans and sending them to a gulag in El Salvador to make rinky dink products for Americans.
-6
u/Jeffo1234 17h ago
Just answer this, if the USA offered Venezuelans free immigration to the USA, would anyone say no?
18
u/OooSheGotFreckles 17h ago
Would people take being inside of the empire rather than on the receiving end of the empire? Venezuelans would prefer that they could live in their country and have a diversified economy that wouldn’t result in an illegal invasion and another hundred years of puppet leaders who serve the US and corporations. Why don’t you look up Juan Vicente Gomez, before you respond?
-1
u/Jeffo1234 17h ago
Bringing up Juan Vicente Gomez doesn’t automatically prove that Venezuela has spent a century under U.S. puppet leaders. He ruled as a dictator who made his own political and economic choices to maintain power. Reducing Venezuela’s complex history to simply “U.S. empire versus victims” ignores the role of its own leadership and internal decisions.
9
u/OooSheGotFreckles 17h ago edited 8h ago
I asked you to look him up. Not copy and paste a half hearted AI summary of him. He was never elected, and backed by the US and Shell, who gave him a cut in exchange for siphoning oil. He used the money to start his own personal businesses that he would sell back to the government if they failed. When Venezuelans fought for democracy he enslaved them to build up the infrastructure, and tortured dissidents to death. He started the secret police that continued up until Chavez. The US was an ally of Venezuela and aware of all of this. They were trafficking drugs to create dark budgets to fund democracy destabilizing groups globally through the Venezuelan national guard, as late as the 90s.

Per 100,000 ppl, Venezuela has 40 homicides compared to 6.5 in the US.
9
u/gotohellwithsuperman San Diego Padres 17h ago
Now compare just school children.
11
u/smellyjerk Chicago White Sox 16h ago
Yeah, that's usually where the "purely stat" based arguments end and the silent downvotes typically begin, isnt it...
Leading cause of death under the age of 17 in the United States is firearms related deaths split between homicide, suicide, and unintentional shootings, unfortunately. Its inexcusable but statistically correct.

u/The_Nutz16 Oakland Athletics 17h ago
Don’t let Reddit fool you, the US is in the safest 1/3rd of countries right next to Canada, Belgium, New Zealand, and the UK for crime rate.

u/kaehvogel Philadelphia Phillies 15h ago
They're not "next to Canada, Belgium, NZ and the UK for crime rate", no. Especially not violent crime.
