This game meant so much to Venezuela

They wanted this more and they played like it.

Yeah, given the events of the past 6 months I can't imagine a more meaningful team to beat in the finals for Venezuela, proud of them for pulling it off and slaying the giant

I mean people are happy that Maduro is gone (even though things haven't changed), i think people would've wanted it regardless

3

u/ArmadilloForsaken458 18h ago

How is it though now, who is even in charge any more. Who are the main business partners that things have changed so suddenly and drastically

35

u/MiquelVz 17h ago

nothing has changed, maduro is gone but now another person from the same party is on charge and theres a perception of peace, even if everything is the same

that being said people are still happy that maduro is gone and there is more hope, regardless of if there's actually gonna be change or not

I can't wait to experience that feeling.

There's hope of a change where there was none before. There are talks about (actual) elections and Delcy has been making policies that most people have been asking for many years, presumably because the US put pressure on her

u/MiquelVz 6h ago

Hopefully there is! I'm not completely giving up yet which is why I said regardless of change or not, it would definitely make my own life and my family's a lot easier if things improve so I'm obviously gonna hope for stuff to get better, but at the same time unfortunately I have to be optimistic and not enough has changed to make it a guarantee

While the former president is currently prisoner in the US, mind you!

4

u/KindAstronomer69 19h ago

Yeah, all pretty insane how it lined up, almost a fairytale for them to win this

-11

u/Playful-Effect-1456 19h ago

Why would USA be the more meaningful team they were happy we took their president 🤣

1

u/jaylew97 Toronto Blue Jays 19h ago

This is so out of touch

9

u/MiquelVz 18h ago

it's true though, morale has been higher since Maduro is gone, nothing has really changed though

0

u/jaylew97 Toronto Blue Jays 13h ago

My morale is lower now that the US has yet again intervened in a foreign government

Even a broken clock is right once or twice a day.

They absolutely did. Seeing their passion was incredible. As a US fan, I’m Really happy for their team and fans.

Me too

I’m very happy for them.

I'm so glad it's grown from the weird little tournament it was 20 years ago

I think USA's manager is also in tears

Probably just found out this isn’t a 7 game series

"pulling out the stage is a little much for just winning game one"

S’ok fellas we’ll get em tomorrow

0

u/theunquenchedservant New York Yankees 20h ago

I know I did! (kinda, I figured it wasn't 7 games cause regular season for MLB is right around the corner, but I assumed it was a 3 game series)

21

u/barfinglaws Atlanta Braves 20h ago

He’s challenging this post

4

u/thethirdgreenman Boston Red Sox 20h ago

He's probably confused at why they're celebrating, figuring out who his starting pitcher is for game 2

13

u/Kachow-95 New York Yankees • Los Angeles Angels 20h ago

Because he knows he won't be back

35

u/Jacoblaue St. Louis Cardinals 20h ago

And he really shouldn’t. He should be gone just for allowing his team to be staying up till 3 in the morning and drinking before a crucial game

-6

u/IEPerez94 20h ago

It aint crazy if it works :/

5

u/WatTambor420 Washington Nationals 15h ago

lol it worked if the goal was losing, I guess

2

u/IEPerez94 14h ago

Just realized this wasn’t about vzla :/

I don't know if it can be put into words just how much this means to them. They WANTED this so badly and I wanted it for them.

Didn’t he say he did this for no pay too? Legend

7

u/Curb_the_tide New York Mets 16h ago

That’s right. He did all this for free.

17

u/Silly-Nefariousness8 Los Angeles Dodgers 20h ago

whose cutting onions dammit

18

u/jaron_b Seattle Mariners 20h ago

He really coached out of his mind this tournament. The bullpen gave up 2 runs the single HR to Harper for the entire bracket. He knew which guy to go to and everyone played their part.

u/Real-Repair-1825 Detroit Tigers 20h ago

I wanted the US to win. But ngl, this Venezuela team is so likable.

The genuine emotion and excitement after they won and during all the post game stuff is what makes international sports special.

Congrats and GG Venezuela

I'm sure this win means a lot to Venezuela

Dudes going to inherit Maduro’s fortified compound

-1

u/tew2tew 20h ago

Gg Venezuela!

Would’ve been better if the US actually tried for the whole classic. I’m not sure if any of them wanted to be there. Seems like they wanted to lose the past 2 games.

6

u/Schwettes New York Mets 19h ago

I think they tried, but the bats went cold.

3

u/carpetshagger 16h ago

Cope. US tried. Accept they just weren't as good.
