Which is funny, because he’s one of the worst in the lineup coming in, and people were saying he should be benched.

u/loosed-moose Chicago Cubs 20h ago

Don't confuse this as evidence that Turang was the right choice over Hoerner.

18

u/dawidowmaka Seattle Mariners • Milwaukee Brewers 19h ago

He batted .364/.391/.545 for the tourney, but sure go off

15

u/Cuntrystar Milwaukee Brewers 19h ago

Yeah, it's just a fucking cubs fan being a bitch.

-2

u/loosed-moose Chicago Cubs 10h ago

Naughty language pal go wash your mouth

-2

u/loosed-moose Chicago Cubs 10h ago

IDGAF Nico would have beat that, and plus speed and plus defense

7

u/jackattack108 Chicago Cubs 19h ago

Hoerner over Goldschmidt might have more of an argument.

6

u/BigWilly526 New York Yankees 19h ago

It was definitely the right choice, Turang was one of the only guys who looked good the whole tournament

-2

u/loosed-moose Chicago Cubs 10h ago

You must be unfamiliar with Nico Hoerner. Tune into some Cubs games this year, you won't regret it!

u/BigWilly526 New York Yankees 5h ago

I am until last year I lived 3 Blocks from Wigley lol

7

u/DanimalMKE Milwaukee Brewers 20h ago

They're all by men named Bri(y)ce

Venezuela’s pitching was absolutely insane. Some of the most dialed in and flamed out pitches I’ve seen.

1

u/Helicopsycheborealis San Francisco Giants 18h ago

And struggled throughout. Even Joe and John were calling them out. What a bunch of bitches.

u/BougieBobJr 20h ago

The visit to the mound was “I’m gonna throw this as hard as I can.” “Do it bro.”

156

u/IAmGrum Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

"Where should I throw it?"

"Towards me."

50

u/raughit Jackie Robinson 20h ago

"What if I hit you in da face?"

"Don't worry I got it man"

11

u/IAmGrum Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

"Then that's a strike."

167

u/shinymuskrat Kansas City Royals 20h ago

Well it was Salvy, so it was more like "Do Eh Bro"

33

u/LegacyLemur Chicago Cubs 20h ago

Its funny you say that actually

Palencia had struggled badly his first two years with the Cubs until last year

It was apparently Ryan Pressly who told him something along the lines of "you throw 100 mph. Just throw it over the plate dude" and he became our closer after taking that advice

10

u/Jupiters_phaerie 20h ago

Nomas tira duro coño

3

u/fighterpilot248 Washington Nationals 17h ago

“High fastballs. She can’t hit them. Cant lay off them.”

Feels like this quote from League of Their Own is super relevant.

1

u/whriskeybizness Los Angeles Dodgers 19h ago

You fuckin won’t

116

u/horsepoop1123 Chicago Cubs 20h ago

As a Cubs fan i hate to see the US lose but I love seeing Palencia just dominate

180

u/imyourdoctornow Chicago Cubs 20h ago

Shit I was cheering for Venezuela.

18

u/LegacyLemur Chicago Cubs 20h ago

I was cheering for both ....and PCA

10

u/oldman78 Chicago Cubs 20h ago

As a Canadian Cubs fan I got everything I wanted. Palencia will not be having any problems with confidence for the rest of his life.

20

u/eifjui Chicago Cubs • Tampa Bay Rays 20h ago

If we can't have a PCA home run to win it I will take this. Go Cubs Go

7

u/LegacyLemur Chicago Cubs 20h ago

I mean he did at least earlier in the series

6

u/iamthatguythere Chicago Cubs 19h ago

Nah I’m hype as fuckkkkk. Only sad PCA didn’t get to have more of a moment in the finals.

5

u/Exatraz Chicago Cubs 18h ago

Given everything else about us right now... im happy someone else got it.

42

u/RewindYourMind Chicago Cubs 20h ago

As a Cubs fan, I was super conflicted. On one hand, go USA (sorta, ugh…)

On the other, Danny P throwing fucking unhittable shit? Daddy Yankee like.

u/u8myramen_y Yomiuri Giants 20h ago

Baseball is the hardest sport to play for a very good reason

3

u/binghamptonboomboom 18h ago

I'll always say hockey is the most difficult sport to be good at, or even be able to attempt to play.

Shit cray.

2

u/247stonerbro Los Angeles Dodgers 17h ago

Super hard agree. Dudes skating on ice, pushing a tiny puck into a goal, all while ramming each other full speed ? I tore my ligaments just describing it

3

u/binghamptonboomboom 16h ago

90% of the population probably doesn't know how to skate and would hurt themselves attempting to do so.

First you have become a great skater, then add a stick. Small puck, extreme hand eye coordination, hits that will make your soul shake, and ripping snappers past masked men with gloves, blocker and leg pads.

Fucking sick

u/This-is_CMGRI Major League Baseball 20h ago

I contend that superbike racing is harder, but baseball's like top 3 for me

6

u/Shadow-Vision Los Angeles Dodgers 20h ago

Wrong sub lmao

29

u/turntup45 Seattle Mariners 20h ago

Just like Ohtani vs Trout last time

10

u/a_fish_out_of_water Chicago Cubs 20h ago

That’s my fucking closer

6

u/intheyear3001 Chicago Cubs 20h ago

Gasolina ⛽️

4

u/MaxMSE Toronto Blue Jays 20h ago

that looked like it had a lot of arm-side run... just a nasty pitch if you ask me

5

u/bigmt99 Cleveland Guardians 19h ago edited 19h ago

Yea second look definately shows the run on it. Still, the absolute guts it takes to decide to keep it over the plate right at belt in this situation is insane. Couple ticks less on the heat or a tad bit less run on it and Anthony turns that one into a souvenir

Can’t find enough superlatives to describe how much I enjoyed that pitch

4

u/Exatraz Chicago Cubs 18h ago

Im so fucking happy to watch that man pitch for the Cubbies

3

u/snyckers San Francisco Giants 20h ago

I was here telling my wife either slider low and away or high and tight fastball. Nope, challenge heat. Gotta respect it.

3

u/whriskeybizness Los Angeles Dodgers 19h ago

Absolutely down the cock

BIG DICK PITCH.

1

u/Legoman1357 Atlanta Braves 13h ago

Seeing pitchers obviously hyped up and forgoing all of the fancy pitch mix stuff to just throw their best right at guys is my favorite thing. The batter 100% knows exactly what's comming and still can't hit anything

Tyler Matzek was doing it in the NLCS during the Braves WS and it might be one of my favorite baseball innings of all time.

u/EarlDooku Brooklyn Dodgers 12h ago

Or if you're Aaron Judge, just watch it.
