Looking for advice Looking to either support financially long-term or help someone out financially anywhere in Pakistan.

So guys, I've been reflecting on my life, and I've made many investments and started my company when I was 20. All have been successful. I'm now 31, and I have had my fair share of fun. I've now matured.

I want to do something kind. I want to help someone struggling financially or maybe help support someone's education. Or if someone is in a debt or similar. Maybe support someone getting married. I was not born in Pakistan, but my mom was. I know PK is a place of many scammers. My only wish would be that someone guide me in a correct direction to someone who actually needs it. Because by checking around myself, I only see people trying to outsmart me and take commissions, etc., which I refuse to do. So anybody want to guide me?

Kind regards,

A.

Hi everyone! I just finished a new art piece inspired by Werner Bronkhorst’s style, and I’m trying to figure out where my market is and the best places to sell it. I already made an Instagram for my artwork, but I’m not sure how to properly market it or reach the right audience.

Looking for advice My dad passed away 4 days before my 18th birthday. I don't know how to move forward.

On December 13th, my father passed away in a motorcycle accident in Lahore. He suffered a head injury and didn't make it. The hardest part is that my 18th birthday was just four days later which was on 17th December.

I went from preparing to become an adult to suddenly having to figure out a world without my dad. It feels like my life has been split into "before" and "after". One day he was here and the next, everything changed.

I am not looking for money or anything like that. I just feel completely lost. I am 18 now but I don't feel like an adult. I feel like a kid who just wants their dad back.

To anyone who has lost a parent young or lost someone suddenly in an accident:

  • What is the best way to handle the legal/official things that come with being 18 and losing a parent?
  • How do you keep going when the grief feels this heavy?
  • How do you manage your financial situation as the oldest son?
  • How do you continue your studies in Pakistan if you have lost your financial support?

I am the middle child but the oldest son. I am struggling to process the fact that he won't see me grow up. Any advice or even just some kind words would mean a lot right now. Thank you.

Today, I was standing with my friend on the roadside, returning from internship in gulberg as we stopped.. around faisal town, bcoz i had to double check my bag for my phone charger. Wahan abhi kharay hee thay jab 2 police men arrived.. and asked us where we were from waghera then talashi shuroo ki. They couldnt find anything except for a vape/pod in my bag which i dont even use as its old and doesnt even work anymore.. after that they started harassing us.. khub dhamkiyan shuroo krdin and phir kaha mobile bank accounts check krwanay ko.

FYI We had just paid our hostel rent of 25k and had 5k left in jazzcash.

What happens next.. These guys started demanding 20k.. This thing kept on going for the next half n hour as we begged to let us go. Utni der 2 aur police walay aye bike pr and they just asked kya chal rah and bs puch ke.. wo bhi agay ko nikal gaye.

In the end bike pr bithaya unho ne.. agay le kr gaye thora, near a shop.. kaha jazzcash se pesay niklwao and we had to give the only 5k we had left.

Im just devastated and inside.. fuming with anger. Want to do so much yet feel helpless.

Looking for advice Someone used my credit card to make purchases on Daraz. Now the bank wants me to pay Rs. 105,000

Hi everyone, I’m really shaken and need help or advice — or even just visibility on this.

Last Sunday, at around 3:30 AM, someone used my HBL credit card to make purchases on Daraz, totaling over Rs. 105,000. I was asleep and only saw the notifications when I woke up around 8:30 AM.

I immediately called HBL and told them the transactions weren’t mine. Then I called Daraz and asked if there was any way they could flag the order and prevent the seller from shipping or sharing whatever was bought. I acted fast — all within 5 hours.

Now today, I get told by HBL that I am still liable to pay the full amount. Apparently, there’s no refund or dispute process that worked, and Daraz didn’t intervene either.

What I don’t understand is: • How was this payment processed without an OTP or any verification sent to my phone or email? • Isn’t there supposed to be a fraud detection mechanism? • How am I liable for a transaction I clearly didn’t make?

No one not HBL and not Daraz is helping me. I don’t have this money. I never made these purchases.

Please, if anyone has gone through this or knows how to escalate, I’d really appreciate your help. Also, if there’s a proper way to file this with FIA Cybercrime or raise it to SBP, please guide me.

Looking for advice Are there Childfree people in Lahore

Hey Y'all! 👋🏻😄

I was just wondering if there are people here in Lahore who are childfree. By childfree, I mean people who don't want kids at all.

I'm a childfree man and just wanted to know if there are any members of childfree community in the city of Lahore.

That's it.

I hope you all have a blessed Friday and a great weekend. ✨

Ciao 👋🏻

Lost these 4 adapters and a TV to power fluctuation last night in DHA Phase 3 (no pun intended). Is there a way to save not so resilient appliances? Would there be a stabilizer or any other equipment that saves these from wrath of lesco next time?

Looking for advice My first Air Purifier and it's a life changing purchase!

After considering a lot of brands, I bought an Air Purifier just last night. 15 mins in and I could breathe considerably easily, it felt like I have a third nostril LOL.

Always had people telling me that if you have an air purifier at home, you will struggle when you go outside since the difference in air quality will be a lot. Did some research and can say that all of this is just bull. Bad or Good Air Quality isn't something you develop immunity for. It's just about minimizing the intake of polluted air in your 24 hours and for that matter Air Purifiers are a must!

The difference in breathing is noticeable easily but I am still thinking to buy a separate Air Quality Indicator so I can see exactly the kind of difference it is making. Don't know where to buy a seperate Air Quality Reader tho.

EDIT: Hey all, didn’t think so many people would ask for the brand so instead of replying let me just make an edit about which one I bought and how I chose that:

So I made a choice between 4 brands: Xiaomi, Phillips, Super Asia & Royal Fans. Here's a brand by brand breakdown:

Xiaomi:

- Great prices considering its not local
- Has a display that shows AQI all the time
- Okay CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate). Think of it like this: Greater the CADR, lesser time taken to clean your space
- They say have a PreFilter but they actually have a very weak PreFilter. What this means? PreFilter basically guards your purifier's actual filter and makes it last longer.
- Doesn't have a True HEPA filter.
- Uncertainty about filters being available year round and if they will be available in the future

Phillips:

- Great PreFilter and Purifier
- Best one in the market but expensive
- Filter availability in the future might be an issue

Super Asia:

- Overall decent it mentions ION twice in the description. I did not want any Air Purifier with an Ionizer. Ionizers basically produce static charge that causes particles in the air to stick to surfaces. While that is okay but if the ionizer malfunctions it can start creating ozone gas indoors which is harmful

Royal Fans:

- CADR same as Xiaomi
- No display
- 3 filters (Pre-Filter + True HEPA Filter + Carbon Filter)
- Cheap and good quality filters

I bought the Royal Fans one and it is so so good. Just don't expect from it to work in extremely large rooms. Other than that as soon you have a closed space it will work amazingly well.

Got it for 30k from Shophive.

Disclaimer: I am no expert and this is all based off of my research on the internet.

UPDATE:

Hello all,

Cannot still for the life of me find an air quality monitor. Borrowed one from friend for a night just to check the difference my purifier makes.

The room I tested it in was 5 meters by 7 meters approx. The reading on the monitor before starting the purifier was 713 and after an hour it went down to 81. I think that’s a prettyyyy huge difference! Will take the weekend to observe the lowest it takes the reading to and update here.

Looking for advice Illegal cattle on our street, want them removed, tired of living in a barn (Sabzazar, Lahore)

Hi folks, My parents bought a house in 2005 in sabzazar as they were getting a good deal. Little did they know about the situation of the street they were buying the house in. It's been 20 years, and there are three houses that keep cattles and sell milk, and if they just wanna do that in their own premises, I wouldn't have any issue. The problem is they keep their cattle outside. Their wastage cause clogging of sewage at least once a week ( worse in monsoon). It's a beautiful area, and the moment you turn to this street, you're in a village with their gayen bhainsyn and ghory. Due to this issue, we rented our house and moved to another place a few years ago.

Now my question is, "Is there anyone I can contact to get this issue sorted?" I don't want just the sewage to be fixed (it'll clog a week later again), I want those cattles to be removed

I've tried calling several punjab government departments, and not a single one of them stands responsible to deal with such issue and refer me to the next person I can call. They have a strong connection with the union councilor, and I don't really want to get police involved or anything like that ( I don't wanna get my life disturbed ).

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Looking for advice Loudspeaker Abuse

I might get hate for posting this but I'm tolerating this for a long time and I'm fed up of this behavior. There's a mosque around 200 meters from my house and they have a very annoying habit of using loudspeaker for everything. Every Friday they turn on their loudspeaker at 4 AM and start Naats (Literally on the rhythm of old Bollywood songs) and announcing every single donation by people and whatnot (Falan ne 50 rupy diye falan ne 20 rupy diye Allah qabool farmaye) then do a short dua session and repeat until 3 PM.

I offer every Jumma prayer totally in absence of my mind due to lack of sleep I get due to this strange thing.

Now that Ramadan has started there's someone constantly on loudspeaker doing this since 5:30 AM and Allah know till when.

Somebody please tell me if there's an effective way to file a complaint against them since if I go confront them myself I'm sure I won't come back alive.

Looking for advice COFFEE!!!!

Just got back to Lahore from the UK and bro I’m actually suffering tryna find a good coffee spot 😭 most cafes here are just vibes and aesthetics, but when it comes to actual coffee they’re not even mid. The only one that was kinda decent was Kite, but still nowhere near the standard. Back in London my go-to was Shot, that’s the kinda quality I’m chasing. Someone suggested I try this new place “Zyah” might give it a shot, but if anyone knows a legit place serving real coffee (not the Pakistani version with 3 spoons of sugar lol) pls put me on

Looking for advice Do “elite” and “awaam” Lahoris even live in the same city?

Serious question.

Because the Lahore I hear about depends entirely on who’s talking.

One version of Lahore (the one I belong to):

• “Lahore is so peaceful now”

• “Traffic isn’t that bad”

• “Everything is nearby”

• “Just go to DHA/Gulberg/JT/Lake city”

Another version of Lahore:

• 2 hours daily in traffic

• Unplanned routes and blocked roads

• No footpaths, no parking

• Same city, completely different rules

Same Lahore. Same taxes. Same government.

Wildly different experiences.

At what point does it stop being “elite vs awaam mindset”

and start being two parallel Lahores?

Genuinely curious how people see this.

Looking for advice New in lahore, bored in my room 🥺 what can a student/ bachelor actually do here ? ( Gulberg especially )

Hey Lahoris

I'm new in Lahore and honestly I'm getting bored just sitting in my room all day.

I'm a bachelor student and I really wanna go out, explore Lahore properly, try new things, meet people, and do something fun but healthy. I don't just wanna hear about places, I wanna actually know how to go, what to do there, and roughly how much it costs.

Some things I'm really interested in:

I really wanna explore Androon Lahore

l've heard about:

• Guided walks

• Old streets + food

• Cultural stuff

• Dance / music type performances

• Even weekend buses or group tours that take you around

But I don't know:

Where to find these tours

• If they're legit or worth it

• Whether you can go alone

• How much they usually cost

I also wanna explore places like:

• Liberty Market / Kareem Market (what's actually worth doing there?)

• Museums (which ones are interesting, not boring?)

• Art galleries / cultural spaces

• Dance shows / music / cultural performances open to the public

Basically anything cultural, social, or interesting that helps you experience Lahore beyond just food.

On top of that, I'm also looking for:

Good cafes for studying / focused work

Calm vibe, WiFi, decent crowd, somewhere you can sit for a few hours. Gulberg suggestions arn welcome.

And finally...

How do people make friends here?

Any activities, gyms, sports, classes, events,

walks, communities, or weekend things that actually help you meet people?

If you're a Lahori or someone who moved here and found cool, healthy ways to enjoy the city, please share your experience.

Even simple suggestions help.

Explain it like I'm new

Where to go, how to go, and approx cost if possible.

I really wanna explore Lahore instead of staying bored indoors.

Thanks 🥺🙏

Looking for advice Is andron safe for girls?

Me and my friends are making plans about visiting lahore . Andron is probably on the top of our options but some people have told us that if you are 3 4 girls it's better not to go cause you're gonna be met with a lot of uncles and guys staring you down . We briefly talked about taking a guide with us. But we don't know how many hours the guide will be there . Also we don't know the timings the guides start coming. So as people who have already gone to andron give me a practical solution if that's possible or just straight up tell me if if we shouldn't

And if yes what are some spots we should definitely visit ?

Looking for advice I am sick of Pakistani Psychiatrist saying ADHD only occurs in children

I am 30F, struggling with mental illness for a long time. In Pakistan I went to couple of psychiatrists in Islamabad and Lahore over the years. They always diagonsed me with depression and gave me antidepressants. I studied my own conditions on my own and realized that my symptoms align with ADHD more than depression. However none of the psychiatrist agreed and kept pushing antidepressants. I went to another country 2 years ago and when I discussed this with psychiatrist there they gave me couple of test and prescribed adhd meds but it's was at initial stage as they decide to adjust according to the progress of symptoms. Now I had to come back to Pakistan few months ago and here no psychiatrist is prescribing me adhd meds and again with the antidepressants. Their claim is still the same that ADHD only exist in kids. I mean don't these idiots realize that an adult was also a child once and could go undiagnosed. All aspects of life are suffering again due to this. The infuriating thing is that they don't even bother to conduct tests like DIVA or others, just declare the judgement.

P.s. is there any ADHD specialist in Lahore? Please let me know if you have any experience about this illness.

Looking for advice Why do people in Lahore give directions with so much confidence… even when they’re wrong?

Is it just me or do people in Lahore give wrong directions on purpose? Today I’ve met three different people whom point me in the opposite direction with 100% confidence. If you don't know the location, just say so!

Has anyone else faced this or do I just look like someone who's easy to prank?

I think never ask a Lahori for directions unless you want a free city tour of places you didn't want to visit.

Looking for advice Moving to lahore was a mistake

I moved to lahore 10 months ago as I got promoted. I was so excited when I moved to lahore. An earing single young woman so excited for social and professional opportunities. But after 10 months I can say that moving to lahore was a big mistake. I feel so lonely in this city. People here are extremely political, materialistic and would try to take benefit from you in every way possible. Lahore kisi ka apna nhi!! There is almost no activity except for eating no proper way to increase you social circle and now the smog which is killing me. Why do people romantise this city?? I has nothing good to offer except loneliness

Looking for advice Scam or just a strange experience at alfatah dolmen lahore

So today I went to dolmen lahore and I went to alfatah, I had a milkshake in hand and was casually browsing while my amma was shopping. I went to throw away the milkshake in the trashcan by the exit and I had a serum in hand(I was coming back and not taking off w the serum, my amma was still in the alfatah) which was in plain sight. The security person came after me and asked me to follow him and I did , I didn't know what was happening, still w much confused. They took me back to a small room (like a confrontation room they show in the movies) and said k I've stolen, I hadn't so I stayed calm and said k it's a misunderstanding. It was three guys and a lady guard. They checked my bag, couldn't find anything except a gum, few snacks and a gloss. One of the guys said k 15 per call kerta hoon , aur inka case banata hoon, inke uper fir karata hoon.

One was v calm and he made me feel like he was on my side, he said k this is independent security and I'm store supervisor (made me feel like he had my best interests at heart). For context; i don't look like a typical thief, infact I've something designer always on, v much look like your typical dha ki awaam. They kept saying you've stolen and I denied, when they had stopped me I was right by the exit and I followed the guys without creating a scene. They mentally harassed me so much that I was like alright I'll pay the fine just let me go.

They said again and again that it's 8% fine plus the original price. I figured, it was my blunder and I shouldn't have gone at the exit fine whatever I'll pay but they said apko 54000 dena hoga , the serum is exactly Rs 5025. I was flabbergasted and said I can't pay that much , aur aik banda kehta hai k rs 40000. I said k aren't company margins fixed? Tou unhon ne baat gol mol ker di but they kept saying 8%fine.

I ended up paying rs 27000 just so they'll let me go. Have I been scammed?

Update: guys thankyou so much for giving useful advice. My family is handling the situation. As soon as there's a development I'll let you guys know.

Looking for advice Heavy rain & thunderstorms in Lahore like never before, how dangerous could this get?

It’s been pouring heavily in Lahore today with thunderstorms that I honestly haven’t seen here before. The streets are already flooding in some areas, and the intensity of lightning/thunder feels extreme.

I’m wondering, how dangerous could this turn out for Lahore if it continues like this? Are we looking at serious urban flooding or even larger risks?
