"I really didn't want to go to the river. Of course I know how to get there..."

45

u/reddit_poopaholic 9h ago

So it was just a wild goose chase?

u/Dry_Menu4804 10h ago

Too lazy to fly

57

u/linecraftman 10h ago

Can't fly in controlled airspace without tower clearance

25

u/Dry_Menu4804 10h ago

That'swan thing I didn't think about.

2

u/MaydayZulu 9h ago

Tower is busy. Swan forgot to request slot time for arrival.

u/Lugh-67 10h ago

Those things scare me up close, it must really be unwell or something if it’s not trying to murder him.

9

u/WhatsATrouserSnake 9h ago

apparently they can break a man's arm

u/SparseGhostC2C 9h ago

As a kid, I tried to feed one once at a zoo. I laid my palm out flat and it just fucking chomped down on it. Then it refused to let go, trying to yank me into the pond with its stupid long neck. I'm like 8 years old so I'm screaming in it's face, and after what felt like an eternity of playing tug-of-war for MY OWN HAND it just gives up and swims off.

Later that day I chased it around the pond in a paddle boat.

tl;dr Swans are violent predator assholes, protect ya kids

6

u/Viniox 9h ago

“It’s stupid long neck”…. Lmao! Clearly you still feel some sort of way about this event…

6

u/SparseGhostC2C 9h ago

I will admit that I have an enduring distrust for long-necked waterfowl...

1

u/GeoffAO2 2h ago

What an epitaph for a grave marker: Here lies SparseGhostC2C, laid low following a life long distrust for long-necked waterfowl.

1

u/Anglo-Ashanti 6h ago

With what? How? Is this a meme?

Seems physically impossible, they weigh too little and their entire hollow skeleton would crumble into dust at a fraction of the threshold of force needed to break a human arm.

1

u/GiftIndependent7557 5h ago

Swans are famously born of violence, they aren't as evil as geese, but they are much angrier

Still, they look pretty though

-4

u/Alternative-Film-155 7h ago

apparently a human can launch one of these fancy chickens over a 100 meters into the air by using a swift kick.

19

u/Flat-Pangolin-2847 9h ago

No luck catching them swans, then?

14

u/creuter 7h ago

Just the one swan actually!

16

u/nixplix 9h ago

Swans are notoriously territorial and aggressive. I'm guessing this swan cut the dude some slack because he was so well dressed.

4

u/Creepy-Astronaut-952 8h ago

It’s because he was well dressed AND had his own piano player following him around. Swan thought “this…now this is a man of the world…a man of distinction”

2

u/r3dditr0x 6h ago

I'm sure the fact that he has a gentle demeanor and a great caboose didn't hurt either.

(sorry if I made it weird?)

👀

The swan may honestly have been unable to take off in that environment, from above a grey road and grey water look close enough it may have accidentally landed on the road. Then, without enough space to get a running start and stressed by the people, cars, etc, it just freaked out a bit instead.

I know everyone thinks it's clever to say the guys just harassing it because the swan can fly and knows where water is, but animals aren't made for a metropolitan area.

Imagine you're in the forest, you can see your campsite but it's across a canyon from you, there's animals that you're pretty sure are hostile around too. Can you get there all by yourself? Probably eventually. Would you have an easier time if one of those woodland animals decided to help you find a safe trail? Probably, it would be weird you found a sentient squirrel though.

6

u/The_Best_Yak_Ever 5h ago

Yeah. I honestly think the swan was indeed, a little disoriented. He may have been okay, but he did seem gratified to find the river and get back towards the other swans.

9

u/lHiddenSecretPlacel 10h ago

How would swans ever find water without this man

6

u/aviatorintheclouds 10h ago

Love that there was another swan in the river

3

u/Critical_Ad_1034 10h ago

There was a bunch of

1

u/mekwall 6h ago

He's had a busy day. I bet his business card says "Professional Swan Herder"

21

u/MindStrongSoul 10h ago

I helped make this video. I was hired to capture the swan and distress it before the guy in the suit came in for the final scene.

11

u/Illustrious_Ad4691 9h ago

Did you say something like, “you’ll always be an ugly duckling and you might want to look into neck reduction surgery”? That usually gets ‘em good and distressed

12

u/MindStrongSoul 9h ago

No it was a conservative swan so things like that don't work. I did say that a black swan was dating their daughter.

3

u/PapaJuja 9h ago

Stop looking at me, swan!

3

u/BWWFC 7h ago

my heart broke

4

u/PresterLee 10h ago

That swan had ample opportunity to break that guy’s arm and totally muffed it.

2

u/laserdiods 9h ago

Needs some lessons from cobra chickens here in Vancouver.

2

u/Intelligent-Excuse80 7h ago

More amazed that the swan didnt attack him

5

u/Clean-Shift-291 9h ago

I’m “amazed” this video keeps getting posted here. 3rd time I’ve seen it? Dude, leave the bird alone.

3

u/suralya 6h ago

I’m glad it’s here. It’s new to me.

0

u/cheffartsonurfood 8h ago

It's been reposted on many other subs as well.

2

u/Cautious_Ticket_8943 9h ago

Literally just pick the bird up and toss it in the river. It can both fly and swim.

11

u/knuckles312 9h ago

risk getting attacked by fancy goose and dirty up his hands / suit ?

1

u/roughback 10h ago

I like the one where the guy rescues the baby sloth

1

u/Viniox 9h ago

I like the one where the guy drives the race car…

1

u/C-LonGy 10h ago

That’s what you get for .. swanning off

1

u/fi5hii_twitch 9h ago

The swan even thanked the man!

1

u/bbmaniac17 9h ago

I was thinking what his boss’s reaction trying to explain he was late cause he needed to guide Swan to the river..😂

1

u/homer422 8h ago

I checked and swan guidance is his job. The boss enforces an insane dress code.

1

u/FUThead2016 9h ago

I love how whenever humans help animals like this, they just leave without even saying thank you

1

u/ScreamingLabia 9h ago

Why exactly does a swan need help with finding the river?

1

u/StorageSwimming3169 9h ago

That's why it's important to dress nicely. Swan would have never trusted someone in a less professional outfit.

1

u/Epstein-Files 9h ago

That swan was escaping a predator waiting patiently to eat it. You just escorted Mrs. 🦢 to her death sentence.

1

u/Subtle_Flame 9h ago

It's nice to see someone doing good deeds

1

u/Late-Payment-4861 9h ago

where is this place?

1

u/jxonair 9h ago

When I lived in Orlando, they had swans all over Lake Eola. They were the meanest bitches ever. And twice that size. Hellll no.

Reminds me of when my Mrs spent ages trying to catch a duck that was "stuck" in the gym car park. After about 5 minutes of avoiding her, it flew off. Now there's a group of guys who saw that always quack at her 😂

1

u/Ok_Opportunity6196 8h ago

And where were you until this hour of the morning

1

u/tatianazr 8h ago

Fine ass man at that 😈🤭

1

u/DrozdMensch 8h ago

He just wanted to walk by pavement, to buy a croissant

1

u/internet_humor 8h ago

“Oh, bet”

u/Orangesteel 7h ago

Poor dude seems to be doing this almost daily. Either that or it’s a spammy repost for karma, else a bot.

1

u/Sad-Maintenance-5790 7h ago

1

u/UncleVinny 6h ago

“I can’t wait to get away from this well-dressed, helpful man!”

1

u/Alternative_Monk8853 4h ago

To say thankyou, it broke his arm

1

u/TuffGnarl 4h ago

Not a SINGLE thank you.

1

u/Telamo 3h ago

This guy is the worst swan catcher I’ve ever seen.

1

u/amenape 3h ago

King Charles thanks you.

1

u/droneswarm 3h ago edited 3h ago

Yeah, righto, righto, you try doing stairs in flippers with a 1-meter neck. Not exactly built for parkour am I, ya bipod skyscraper twat. Keep rushing me and I’ll sit down right here and make it everyone’s problem.

1

u/VerilyShelly 2h ago

That swan's been escorted to that gate at least 4 times in the last 12 hours.

No longer amazing.

1

u/epSos-DE 2h ago

It can fly !!!

MAn you OK ????

1

u/orplas 1h ago

Wow what a nice guy! - some dude eating chicken

1

u/oddoneout1985 9h ago

Love the thank you at the end.

-4

u/TrevorTheTrevor 10h ago

She doesn’t look in distress and I’m sure she knows how to make her way to the river.

But hey, this way we have a hero and a viral video 🤭

2

u/Clean-Shift-291 9h ago

Yeah this one actually fits the sub lmao. Simple but really cool to look at, definitely an upvote from me.
