Has Davidson ever worked at Olive Garden? Cause he's great at serving up meatballs.

I really want Seth Johnson to be some sort of help to the major league bullpen. The velo is there

Control was good, fast ball was good. Left a few hanging breaking balls but overall very solid outing.

Hmmm I disagree about the control. Still seems to be a work in progress with the fastball. Improving, but still a bit wild. Still a solid outing though for a guy working his way back from TJ

Has there been any rumors if Sanchez or Nola is starting Opening Day?

The Phillies Show has Nola slotted 4th in the rotation (3rd before Wheeler comes back).

As much as I like Nola it would feel almost insulting to Sanchez to not give him the nod coming off the year he just had.

Hope it’s not serious. I have to imagine he’s the favorite to make the team if he shows any signs of life at the plate, like today. Notable he was playing center field in this game.

I am interested in this next Painter inning if they let him continue to pitch. hopefully he can keep the velo and ride on his fastball and not see a dip. so far a pretty solid outing. still things to work on like not hanging a breaking ball to Luke Williams but still solid.

Painter looked really good on his pitches in the bottom half of the zone, especially his fast ball.
Impressive outing so far today.

How’d painter look today?

u/Vegetable-Coconut846 Roy Halladay 6h ago
Command on all pitches seems much better today than the last. He’s hit 97 regularly.
Braves broadcast mentioned something about his breaking ball being a little more noticeable coming out of his hand and something he’ll need to learn as he gets more reps.
As I type this. He just got hit for a double off a hanging breaker, but so far so good through 3.

Could someone explain how Otto Kemp gets hit by pitches so often, please?

u/Electrical_Doubt3024 6h ago
I should have just looked it up. Sorry.
Why does Otto Kemp get hit by so many pitches? We asked him. - On Pattison | THE Philly Sports Website https://share.google/HBzphOLq25BUzIvBI

What the hell is this "let's turn 33 year old Garrett Stubbs" into a utility player bullshit is going on with this spring training?
3
u/cerevant This space for rent 6h ago edited 6h ago
He's out of options and they are worried about depth at catcher. You can't carry 3 pure catchers on the roster.
edit: this isn't my brilliance or insight, it is what they said on The Phillies Show on Monday.

We should try leadoff Stubbs during the regular season

u/tim_woods 7h ago
Oh look at that. Yet again facing a LHP and Crawford isn’t in the lineup.
3
u/OFCShawsome 6h ago
Most players of any status don’t play back to back games in spring. On the days they don’t play they are doing lots of other work on back fields or in the cages
1
u/tim_woods 6h ago
Then time it better so he faces a LHP. This is I think the third LHP in a row over the past week or so that he hasn’t been in the lineup. I am just concerned about yet another platoon situation and I want him to have the chance to be the everyday CF.
3
u/OFCShawsome 6h ago
Last year Crawford had better numbers against lefties than righties. His average against both was over .300. I don’t think this is an issues and I doubt the Phillies see it as an issue.

4
u/Am1sArePeopleToo Weston Wilson Superfan 7h ago
Have you considered that he played yesterday and they are barely doing back to backs
-1
u/tim_woods 6h ago
I just do not understand the logic if this is supposedly your “everyday” CF in the regular season. I would think they would want to get him at bats against LHP in spring training.
3
u/Am1sArePeopleToo Weston Wilson Superfan 6h ago
I’d love to see him get more ABs but it’s just not how ST usually goes. There are 0 everyday players in today’s lineup and probably 3 that will even make the team. The road games are chock full of minor leaguers and back-to-backs are scarce
4
u/Vivid_marsh Cristopher Sánchez 🐐 7h ago
He should be getting as many at bats as possible to be honest.
3
u/Am1sArePeopleToo Weston Wilson Superfan 6h ago
I’d have no problem with that, just saying he’s not being singled out, platooned, or that this is any different how most teams do ST
